个人简介
Dr. Macêdo was born in Teresina, PI, Brazil. She graduated in Medicine on the Federal University of Piauí – Brazil, in 2016. During graduation, she took part in scientific projects developed on the Laboratory of Immunogenetics and Molecular Biology, conducting researches on the area of HLA haplotyping, renal transplantation, and bioinformatics, which concurred to the development of the online platform EpHLA-Converter (http://ephlaconverter.ufpi.br/), an integrated database for histocompatibility analysis on kidney transplantation. Also, during graduation, she was the Scientific Director of the Academic League of Oncology, from 2013 until 2014.
She obtained a Master of Sciences degree in Immunology in 2017, on the Biomedical Sciences Institute of the University of São Paulo – Brazil. She developed her thesis on the area of immunometabolism of macrophages, within the scope of macrophage polarization in a murine model of tubulointerstitial kidney disease. From 2018 until 2020, she was Resident of Internal Medicine on the Federal University of São Paulo - Brazil, having also participated on the Academic League of Internal Medicine.
From 2020 until February 2022, she was Resident of Rheumatology on the Clinics Hospital of the University of São Paulo – Brazil. During her training in Rheumatology, she took part in a trial on the role of vitamin D supplementation in acute covid-19 (DOI: 10.1001/jama.2020.26848), and conducted a meta-analysis about the relationship between osteoarthritis and atherosclerosis (DOI: 10.1016/j.exger.2022.111734).
Dr. Macêdo is currently working as a Research Fellow in the Division of Rheumatology of the University of Washington - Seattle, WA, USA. Her project aims to further the understanding of the pathophysiology of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE), with a focus on the mitochondria role in thromboinflammation, and on anti-mitochondrial antibodies as biomarkers for thrombotic and arterial events in SLE patients.
