Bio
Martin van Maarseveen received the Ph.D. degree in applied
mathematics from the University of Twente (ITC), Enschede, Netherlands, in 1982.
He is currently a Full Professor in management of urban-regional dynamics and the Head of the Department of Urban
and Regional Planning and Geo-Information Management, ITC. Previously, he was one of the Founding Fathers of the
School of Civil Engineering and Management and a Professor in strategic transport planning and sustainable
development. His main research interests include integrated land use and transport planning, accessibility studies,
sustainable urban planning, and dynamic modeling of spatial processes. He has been involved in many research projects
and capacity building activities in Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
