个人简介
Michelle has varied experience in medical- surgical and critical care nursing across clinical and educational roles. Made the move to higher education in 2000. Since 2006, teaching and learning focus has moved to the use of simulation strategies in health care education. Michelle has been appointed in lead roles to develop and integrate simulation-based education techniques into a variety of health curricula. Michelle has been integral to the design, planning and operationalisation of 6 builds for simulation learning spaces and has also advised external groups in these areas of contemporary learning approaches and spaces.
Areas of research include but are not exclusive to:
Using simulation experiences as/ for: Preparation for clinical practice; Workforce development; Improving engagement and communication; Managing deteriorating patients; mental health – to enhance therapeutic communication; Interdisciplinary team-based learning; Enhancing communication with 'relatives' (actors) during conversations about organ and tissue donation.
Other areas of research: exploring personal and professional factors that influence pain assessment; patient discharge conversations.
