Michelle T. Scharer completed a PhD in Biological Oceanography at the Department of Marine Sciences of the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. Current research is through a private consultancy that includes research projects in fisheries, marine biology, coral reef ecology, Passive acoustics, and animal Communications. The current projects focus on fish spawning aggregations research and monitoring with passive acoustic methods.
