Bio
Nader Saffari was born in Tehran, Iran. He received his B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Leeds, Leeds, U.K., in 1978, and a M.Sc. degree in microwaves and his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from University College London (UCL), London, U.K., in 1980 and 1986, respectively.
He has been working with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, UCL, since 1992, where he set up the Ultrasonics Group. He is currently the Professor of ultrasonics at UCL. He is also a member of the Institute of Physics, London. His research interests include high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) for the ablation of tumors, mathematical modeling of ultrasound (US) propagation and scattering in inhomogeneous tissues, histotripsy for intrahepatic cell delivery, US-mediated neuromodulation, US-mediated drug delivery, and shear wave tumor detection in the prostate.
