He graduated from UWA with a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering with first class honours in 1993, followed by a Ph.D in the field of applied acoustics and control in 1998. Dr. Paurobally focusses on research in acoustics, dynamics, vibration, control as well as condition monitoring and has received several research grants with colleagues from Australia. His primary research interest lies in the field of active control of noise and vibration. He has supervised several postgraduate students as well as many undergraduate project students during his career.
Dr. Paurobally has published over 35 papers in leading International Journals and Conference Proceedings, worked on several industry projects in his field and has an international patent. With his colleagues he received the “Best Paper Award” at the 2002 International Symposium on Active Control of Sound and Vibration, ACTIVE 2002 in Southampton, UK. He is a regular speaker at the International Congress on Sound and Vibration held every year and has been an organising committee member for several conferences. Dr. Paurobally reviews papers for several International Journals on a regular basis. He also has collaborative research with colleagues around the world.
Dr. Paurobally’s interest in teaching spans dynamics, acoustics, vibration, control and mechatronics. He has taught acoustics, dynamics, vibration and control systems for many years and has been nominated for several Teaching Awards. He has also participated in curriculum development and accreditation of courses. He is passionate about student learning and improving Engineering Education.
He is a graduate member of Engineers Australia (EA) and the International Institute of Acoustics and Vibration (IIAV).
