Dr. Sabrina Racine- Brzostek received her bachelor of science degree from Boston College in 2000, and her M.D. and PhD from Stony Brook University School of Medicine in Stony Brook, New York in 2013. She did an anatomic and clinical pathology residency program at Montefiore Medical Center at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, New York Moreover, she became their chief resident and then moved on to the New York Blood Center and Weill Cornell Medicine to serve as a transient transfusion medicine fellow in 2018. She also served as a research assistant with Dr. Anthony Hollenberg at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center from 2000 to 2001. At Stony Brook, she was involved in the medical scientist training program and has given many didactic lectures there as well as here at Weill Cornell.
Dr. Racine- Brzostek has a broad range of research experience, from the study of cellular and molecular biology to the study of public health policy. She is displays a strong commitment to providing patient care based on her broad knowledge base in transfusion medicine, immunohematology as well as lab management. She was a key player in an inter-disciplinary clinical team that has provided care for hemophilia patients, and she has distinguished herself in the field of transfusion medicine. She has embarked on a quality improvement project regarding the reconstitution of whole blood for neonatal whole blood exchange, which is a critical provision in the blood bank. Her main research project is focused on solving detergent plasma and it’s extended time efficiency.
