个人简介
Dr Ellison was awarded a Bachelors degree in Biochemistry with Molecular Biology from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in 2004. His PhD was conducted in the Cardiovascular Sciences Group at the University of Birmingham, where he worked with Professor Yotis Senis investigating the role of a novel protein tyrosine phosphate in the regulation of platelet receptor signalling. On completion of his PhD in 2009, Dr Ellison joined Professor Nicholas Mazarakis in the Gene Therapy group at Imperial College London to work on an ERC funded project developing novel CNS targeting lenitiviral vectors designed for delivery to the neuromuscular junction for the treatment of ALS. He then led his own research project investigating neuroprotective therapeutics delivered by bi-cistronic lentiviral vectors in models of Huntington’s disease. In 2013 he joined Professor Brian Bigger’s Stem Cell and Neurotherapies group at the University of Manchester to develop ex-vivo stem cell gene therapies for Mucopolysaccharidosis, conducting proof-of-concept studies and pre-clinical development.
