个人简介
S. Girard(M’05–SM’11) got his Master's degree, his PhD degree and his Accreditation for Research Direction (HDR Diploma) from Saint-Etienne University, France, in 2000, 2003 and 2010 respectively. He joined the Commissariat à l'Energie Atomique (CEA) in Arpajon, France as a post-doctoral fellow, was recruited in 2004 and became a senior member of the technical staff. He was directly in charge of studies regarding the vulnerability and radiation hardening of optical components, more specifically fiber optics and image sensors for the French Laser Mégajoule project devoted to fusion studies by inertial confinement. In 2012, Sylvain joined the Saint-Etienne University as Full Professor at Laboratoire Hubert Curien, UMR CNRS 5516, France. His main research axis deals with the development of a coupled simulation/experiments approach to build predictive models for the behavior of optical materials, photonic devices and systems in the harsh environments associated with space, nuclear industry, high energy physics, fusion facilities or nuclear waste storages. He has authored or co-authored five patents, more than 170 journal papers and two book chapters. He received the 2013 IEEE/NPSS Early Achievement Award and the 2014 IEEE/SEE Léon Nicolas Brillouin Award. Sylvain is Senior Member of IEEE and member of IEEE NPSS.
