Research Interests
The overarching goal of my research is to use the climate and carbon cycle variability of the past to inform projections of the future. I reconstruct past changes in the carbon cycle by measuring the concentration and isotopic composition of greenhouse gases trapped in polar ice cores. More recently, I have been working on developing new methods for measuring the δ18O, δ17O and δD of water in hydrated minerals and fluid inclusions to understand past changes in the hydrological cycle.
