Dr. Teresa F. Mastropietro achieved her Master Degree (2003) and PhD (2006) in Chemistry at the University of Calabria under the supervision of prof. De Munno. She worked to the synthesis, characterization and establishment of structure-property relationship of transition metal-based MOF materials for the development of molecular–based magnets. In particular, she developed skills in the use of X-ray single crystal structural characterization techniques and structure solution. In 2006-2009, she was postdoc in the same research laboratory, at first within the project PROSICA (POR Calabria 2000/2006), then for the Centro di Eccellenza CEMIF.CAL, continuing her work in this field in strong collaboration with the research group of prof. Miguel Julve (Universidad de Valencia). During this period, she also worked to the synthesis and structural characterization of transition metal complexes with anticancer properties and of BIO-MOF, made up of transition metal complexes with DNA building units.
In 2011, she moved to the group of prof. Ghedini with a post-doctoral fellowship funded by the Italian MIUR through the Centro di Eccellenza CEMIF.CAL. Here, she worked to elaborate a crystal engineering approach to the development of photoactive transition metal complexes for application in OLED or LEEC devices, photovoltaic cells, photoconductors and photorefractive materials and/or sensing systems.
In 2013-2017, she was post-doc within the EU-FPT7 DEMCAMER Project, under the supervision of prof. Enrico Drioli. She worked to the synthesis and characterization of zeolite materials and membranes for application in gas separation and to the development of photocatalytic membranes. The research, carried out at the Chemical Engineering Department of the University of Calabria, was performed in strong collaboration with the ITM-CNR institute, where she was guest researcher for two yers.
Fom march 2017 to february 2019 she was Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the Institute on Membrane Technology (ITM-CNR) under the supervision of Dott. Gianluca Di Profio, whithin the AMECRYS project -Revolutionising Downstream Processing of Monoclonal Antibodies by Continuous Template-Assisted Membrane Crystallization-(Project ID: 712965 Funded under: H2020-EU.1.2.1. - FET Open). She worked to develop an innovative, continuous, downstream processing for mAbs purification based on a Template-Assisted Membrane Crystallization process, for the industrial application of protein crystallization in biopharmaceutics. In particular, she developed skills in protein crystallization and protein/membranes characterization techniques (Fluorescent microscopy, DLS measurements, TOC analyses, SEM, SEC, Native-page, contact angles, porosimetry) . This work was performed in strong collaboration with the IC-CNR of Bari, the CNRS of Bordeaux, the Imperial College of London and the University of Strathclyde of Glasgow. She spent brief visiting periods in both IC-CNR of Bari and CNRS of Bordeaux.
Since october she is researcher (RTD B) at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Technology of the University of Calabria. She works now on the development of new MOF and polymeric membranes for applications in gas and water treatment.
She was member of the Italian Association of Crystallography , the Italian Society of Chemistry and of the European Membrane Society .
She was invited Member of the ICheap12 International Scientific Committee.
She was professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Calabria, for the course of Inorganic and General Chemistry for the a.a. 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.
She was temporary assistant professor at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Calabria, of the course of Inorganic and General Chemistry for the a.a. 2009-2010 and 2010-2011.
She get the National Scientific Qualification as Associate Professor for Inorganic Chemistry and Chemistry Technologies (03/B1 and 03/B2).
She was invited Member of the ICheap12 International Scientific Committee.
She is author of 43 publications (h index =18, 858 citations) in international journals, and Proceeding in Books (ISSN, ISBN). She appears in 16 article as main author (first or corresponding author). Many publications appear in high-level journals relevant to her research field (JACS, Chemical Communication, Crystal Growth and Design, Inorganic Chemistry), whose Impact Factor range from 4.052 to 14.695.
She is also author of 35 contributions (poster or oral) to national and international Congresses and of 4 Conference Papers.
