个人简介
Thomas H. Hand received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering and applied mathematics from the Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne, FL, USA, in 2005 and the M.S and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Duke University, Durham, NC, USA, in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
He spent 5 years with Northrop Grumman Electronic Systems, Baltimore, MD, USA, where he was an Antenna Design Engineer, gaining a broad range of experience in antenna and phased array system technologies for commercial, defense, and civil space applications. Supporting both production and development programs, he was involved in design and analysis tasks for numerous radar and phased array systems, including F-35 and the F-22, as well as dual-band millimeter wave reflector/reflect array system to support cloud profiling measurements for the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Upon joining Lockheed Martin Space Systems in 2014, he entered the RF Antenna Products Group, Newtown, PA, USA, before transitioning to the RF Center of Excellence, Littleton, CO, USA, in 2015. He currently supports a multitude of government production and programs, and most recently, ultrawideband phased array technology IRAD and CRAD initiatives within the Lockheed Martin Advanced Programs organization. His broad interests include applications of metamaterial technology applied to novel RF devices, notably an advanced short backfire antenna with ultrahigh aperture efficiency enabled by anisotropic metamaterials. Other professional interests include advanced wideband antenna phased array architectures, RF component and antenna design, modeling, and analysis. He is also interested in advanced manufacturing technologies, including additive manufacturing, and leveraging these technologies to realize novel antenna solutions in support of various programs across Lockheed Martin. He is the author/coauthor of more than 25 technical publications and conference presentations, including one in the journal of Nature Communications, three issued U.S. patents, and four pending U.S. patents.
