Bio
U. Snekhalatha (Member, IEEE) received the bachelor’s degree in electronics and communication engineering from Madras University, in 2002, the master’s degree in medical electronics from Anna University, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree in biomedical engineering from SRMIST, in 2015. She is currently a Professor with the Department of Biomedical Engineering, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Tamil Nadu, India. She has made significant contributions to her field, with 20 years of teaching experience and 14 years of research experience. She has an impressive publication record, with 115 research articles in reputed peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. She has authored a book entitled Artificial Intelligence-Based Infrared Thermal Image Processing and its Applications in collaboration with Prof. Kurt Ammer from the University of South Wales. Furthermore, she has filed seven Indian patents, with two patents granted and five in the published stage. Her research interests include biomedical signal processing, medical image processing, machine learning, and deep learning techniques. She is a member of various professional societies, such as the IEEE EMBS Society, the Biomedical Society of India, IEI, IEANG, IRED, ISTE, and ISCA. She received the Best Researcher Award for publications in a Nature indexed journal during the Research Day Function, SRMIST, March 2021; and the best paper awards for some of her research paper publications.
