Bio
Xuezhe Zheng (M'03–SM'03) received the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in optical instruments from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China in 1993 and 1997, respectively. His Ph.D. thesis work involved binary optics and diffractive beam shaping technologies for uniform illumination in inertial confinement fusion (ICF).
Subsequently, he joined the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, the University of California, San Diego, as a Researcher, investigating high-speed, high-density free-space optical interconnects. In 1999, he joined Call/Recall Inc., San Diego, where he worked on fast read/write optical data storage technology with two-photon material. He is currently an Optical Designer with Calient Networks, Goleta, CA. His research interests include free-space optical interconnects, optical switching, and dense wavelength division multiplexing transparent networks.
Dr. Zheng is a recipient of the Science and Technology Development Award from the National Education Committee of China.
