Aleksandër Moisiu University of Durrës (Albanian: Universiteti "Aleksandër Moisiu" Durrës; initialism: UAMD), also Aleksandër Moisiu University or University of Durrës, is the newest public academic institution of the Republic of Albania. The University is located in the ancient city of Durrës. The university was founded on 20 December 2005 by the Albanian Government. It was inaugurated in 2006 and is using the American system of education, unlike the rest of the public universities in the country. More than 1,300 students started classes as of 2 October 2006. University of Durrës took its name from Austrian-Italian actor Aleksandër Moisiu, who was of Albanian descent. The rector is Kseanela Sotirofski.
This study presents the results of indoor radon measurements collected during three survey campaigns, accumulating around 450 data taken in dwellings, public buildings, and workplaces. The first stage of the study focused on refining the database, which included only 220 measurements taken on the ground floors of dwellings. The information collected from the largest cities in twelve administrative areas of Albania showed that approximately 30
The tourism industry is highly competitive, and sustaining customer loyalty is crucial for the success of businesses within this sector. In the dynamic and competitive landscape of the tourism industry, understanding the factors that influence customer loyalty is crucial for sustainable business success. This study explores the interplay between perceived value, customer expectations, trust, and their collective impact on customer loyalty within the context of the tourism industry. This reserch is focused on the Albanian tourism industry, especially in 3- and 4-stars hotels that operate in the city of Durres. Statistical tests included descriptive statistics, internal consistency, reliability, validity, correlation, and regression were conducted to determine the relationship and to validate the study. The survey for this study has been applied to 580 tourist that has been accommodated in different hotels of 3 and 4 stars in Durres, from May to September 2023. The study found that there is a positive relationship between perceived value and customer loyalty, customer expectation and customer loyalty, trust and customer loyalty. All those variables are considered predecessors of customer loyalty. By examining these interrelationships, this research contributes valuable insights to the tourism industry, helping hotels in Durres to understand the dynamics that drive customer loyalty in the development of long-term loyalty to contribute to the sustainability and success of their businesses in this competitive industry.
Albania has 270 certified agrotourism establishments generating over €12 million annually. Operators face long waiting times, underutilized capacity, and supply chain delays. We propose an integrated framework combining Graph theory for structural network analysis with Timed Petri Nets for dynamic process modeling, applied to the Shkodra region. Using road distances from GIS and OpenStreetMap, we construct a weighted network of 40+ centers. Structural analysis identifies Harapi (degree 4, betweenness 0.35) and Faqedol (degree 3) as the most central nodes. Accessibility analysis reveals high spatial inequality (CV = 0.52). We build and simulate a Timed Petri Net model in CPN Tools, parameterized with site visit data. The tourist flow model identifies the activity stage as the primary bottleneck (90% utilization). The supply chain model shows processing as the main constraint (4 hours average). We propose a practical step-by-step implementation framework for applying Petri Nets in agrotourism. Combined structural and dynamic analysis shows that targeted interventions can increase throughput by 30%, from 45 to 60 tourists per day.
Aim: The purpose of the paper is to explore the importance of synonymy in the acquisition of second languages and the influence of literary texts (the language of literature) in enriching vocabularies, new meanings of words and their synonymous forms, within the same type, the type of artistic literature. In general, we have analyzed the influence of synonymous forms in the second language acquisition as well as native language acquisition. Methods: The research employs a mixed-methods approach, integrating both quantitative and qualitative analyses. Data was collected through a Google Forms questionnaire completed by 71 students from two universities in Albania, assessing their linguistic formation and comprehension of synonymy. Additionally, 15 literary texts from English language textbooks were analyzed at the word level, free phrase level, and within phraseological expressions. The collected data was processed using statistical analysis to interpret the research questions. Results: The analysis of literary texts indicates that exposure to figurative language enhances students' imaginative perception. However, questionnaire results suggest that many students struggle with abstraction and tend to replace figurative expressions with more concrete and general terms. A significant portion of participants demonstrated a limited ability to incorporate figurative language into their writing. Conclusions: Cognitive interconnections between languages play a crucial role in developing fundamental linguistic competencies. The findings highlight that a lack of embedded English writing conventions hinders spelling acquisition. Additionally, the study underscores the importance of synonymous variations in SLA, reinforcing the hypothesis that students who engage more with artistic literature develop stronger expressive skills in both their native and second languages. These results suggest the need for greater emphasis on literary exposure in pre-university and university curricula to enhance linguistic competence.
