Azerbaijan Medical University named after Nariman Narimanov (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Tibb Universiteti) is the formal name of the public medical school located in Baku, Azerbaijan. Due to difficulties with translation, the school is sometimes called: Azerbaijan Medical University, Azerbaijan State Medical University, Azerbaijan State Medical Institute, or simply Medical University, with any of the preceding including the "named after N. Narimanov" or full "Nariman Narimanov". The school is named after Nariman Narimanov, a famous Azeri in Soviet politics, notably party chairman of the Central Executive Committee of the Soviet Union.
Cryptosporidium spp. is a globally significant protozoan parasite with profound implications for animals, humans, and environmental health. Despite extensive research, its distribution, prevalence, and diversity across Asia remain fragmented. A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted on studies published between 2015 and 2025, incorporating 329 investigations from 29 Asian countries and analyzing 142,484 animal specimens. Pooled prevalence was calculated, and molecular epidemiological data were synthesized to characterize species distribution and subtype diversity. The overall pooled prevalence of Cryptosporidium among animals across Asia was 12
Soil salinity significantly limits wheat productivity by impairing key processes such as photosynthesis, ion homeostasis, and antioxidant defense mechanisms. This study evaluated the effectiveness of foliar-applied chitosan selenium nanoparticles in improving wheat performance under saline conditions, using two contrasting cultivars: the salt-tolerant LU 26 S and the salt-sensitive NIAB 6. Plants were treated with different concentrations of chitosan selenium nanoparticles (10, 20, 30, and 40 mg L− 1). The optimal dosage was found to be 20 mg L− 1 for LU 26 S and 30 mg L− 1 for NIAB 6. In LU 26 S, 20 mg L− 1 increased grain yield per pot from 25.99 g to 29.10 g, while in NIAB 6, 30 mg L− 1 increased the yield from 20.67 g to 25.10 g. Foliar application enhanced several physiological parameters, including canopy persistence, biomass accumulation, and the remobilization of dry matter to the grains. In LU 26 S, 20 mg L− 1 increased transpiration rate by 35.60
INTRODUCTION:Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis (LMC) is a rare and highly fatal complication of solid malignancies and is extremely uncommon in gastric cancer, particularly as an isolated metastatic lesion. This study presents a rare case of LMC in a patient diagnosed with gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma and reviews cases reported in PubMed over the last 10 years. n METHOD: We present a 43-year-old male patient diagnosed with poorly differentiated gastric signet-ring cell carcinoma and elevated CA19-9 levels. His initial staging was consistent with locally advanced disease (CT4aN2M0). The patient received neoadjuvant FLOT chemotherapy, followed by total gastrectomy. In addition, articles published in PubMed over the last 10 years were systematically reviewed to identify cases of LMC associated with gastric cancer. RESULT:The final pathology from the gastrectomy revealed ypT3N3 disease. Three weeks after surgery, the patient developed new-onset headaches and progressive confusion, with a Mini-Mental State Examination score of 23/30. Contrast-enhanced brain MRI did not reveal any mass lesion but showed subtle hyperintensity in the cerebral peduncle region. CSF cytology confirmed LMC, demonstrating malignant signet-ring cells. After detailed consultation, the patient declined targeted therapy and transitioned to home palliative care, passing away two weeks after the diagnosis. The literature review identified 18 cases of LMC associated with gastric cancer. Clinical presentations were largely non-specific, including headache, nausea/vomiting, and confusion. Outcomes were uniformly poor, with survival typically measured in weeks. CONCLUSION:In patients with gastric cancer, clinicians should maintain a high index of suspicion for LMC when new neurological symptoms are detected, even in the absence of other metastatic disease on systemic workup. Cerebrospinal fluid cytology remains as an important test for confirming the diagnosis.
Magnetic nanoparticles (NPs), particularly magnetite (Fe₃O₄), are of increasing interest for biomedical and nanotechnological applications due to their unique magnetic and biocompatible properties. This study presents the gamma radiation-induced biomineralization of Fe₃O₄ NPs in the thermophilic bacterium, Bacillus sp. KA2, isolated from the “Ashagi Istisu” hot spring (Kelbajar, Azerbaijan). The bacterium was exposed to gamma radiation at doses of 500 Gy and 2000 Gy, with non-irradiated cells serving as controls. Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) spectroscopy revealed Fe₃O₄-specific signatures (g = 2.32, ∆H = 320 G) exclusively in irradiated samples, indicating radiation-assisted nanoparticle formation. To evaluate parental satisfaction with telemedicine follow-up after EA repair and identify key technical and clinical predictors of high satisfaction. Cross-sectional survey of 151 parent–child dyads who received telemedicine follow-up (video or telephone) within 30 days after EA repair between April 2022 and April 2025. Satisfaction was measured using an adapted Telehealth Usability Questionnaire (TUQ), and multivariable logistic regression identified independent predictors of high satisfaction (TUQ ≥ 4.0). Secondary outcomes included technical difficulties, unscheduled in-person clinic visits, emergency department presentations, and perceived reduction in healthcare burden. Mean TUQ satisfaction score was 4.28 ± 0.51, with 78.0
