1Evaluating the Impact of Eco-Innovations on Pro-Environmental Mentality among Students
    Jozef Ober,Anna Kochmanska,Charli Sitinjak

PurposeThe recently observed rapid deterioration of the natural environment and the associated negative consequences for human health have led to the need for significant changes in the pursuit of environmental policies at both national, local and regional levels. The promotion and implementation of a wide range of eco-innovations in every sphere of life can influence the public's interest in environmental issues in the broadest sense and motivate them to undertake diverse environmental activities. The purpose of this research is to assess the role of eco-innovation in shaping pro-environmental mentality among students. A visual overview is provided in the graphical abstract.Design/methodology/approachUsing a survey-based methodology with a sample of 1,000 students, the research identifies four types of eco-innovations and constructs a model linking these innovations to pro-environmental actions based on the type of study.FindingsThe research showed that the creation of environment pro-environmental mentality al awareness among tertiary students is mainly influenced by product innovations (mainly the reduction of toxic substances by using innovative resources) and process innovations (mainly innovative recycling methods). Organisational and marketing innovations are attributed less importance by students in the context of creating pro-environmental mentality.Originality/valueThe originality and novelty of the study lies in the identification of four types of eco-innovations depending on their impact on the creation of pro-environmental mentality among students, and the construction of a model of actions for the creation of pro-environmental mentality among students in relation to the type of study.

2Climate-driven Metabolic Reprogramming in Medicinal Plants: Implications for Phytochemical Composition, Therapeutic Efficacy, and Safety
Andri Frediansyah, Fahrul Nurkolis,Nurpudji Astuti Taslim, Mochamad Fikri Ali, Gioconda Millotti, Moira Buršić, Riza Arief Putranto,Bonglee Kim, Raymond Rubianto Tjandrawinata,Antonello Santini

Climate change profoundly affects the phytochemical profiles and therapeutic potentials of medicinal plants through environmental stressors such as rising temperatures, altered precipitation patterns, and increased atmospheric CO2 levels. This review critically examines the mechanisms underlying these impacts, focusing on physiological plant responses, shifts in primary and secondary metabolite biosynthesis, and the consequent effects on medicinal efficacy and toxicity. Our findings indicate that elevated CO2 often enhances biomass production but exerts variable effects on bioactive compound concentrations; temperature fluctuations disrupt phenological phases, thereby altering medicinal quality; and water stress significantly modulates secondary metabolite profiles. While these environmental challenges threaten plant-based healthcare, potential mitigation strategies—including sustainable agricultural practices, genetic engineering, and conservation approaches—are discussed as viable solutions. We recommend future research to emphasize metabolomics, interdisciplinary methodologies, and integration of traditional knowledge to bolster resilience and preserve the therapeutic efficacy of medicinal plants amid ongoing climatic uncertainties.

3A Psychosocial Analysis of Childhood Exposure to Domestic Violence in North Aceh Using Erikson’s Lens

Exposure to domestic violence profoundly disrupts child development. However, the specific psychosocial impacts of expeeriencing violence in rural, close-knit communities remain underexplored. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the psychosocial consequences on children aged 6–12 exposed to domestic violence in North Aceh, Indonesia, using Erikson Psychosocial Theory as an analytical framework. A qualitative descriptive design was used on 13 participants selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with children, supplemented by field observations and secondary data verification to ensure validity. The results showed three critical themes, namely (1) Internalized Emotional Trauma, where children manifest chronic fear and hopelessness; (2) Social Stigma and Shame, where the communal nature of village life leads to peer ridicule and severe social withdrawal, (3) Academic Disengagement, marked by a loss of motivation and focus. From the perspective of Erikson theory, the traumatic experiences actively obstruct the developmental stage of "Industry," trapping children in a state of "Inferiority." In communal cultures, the impact of domestic violence is worsened by social stigma. Therefore, interventions must extend beyond family counseling to include community-based anti-stigma programs and school support systems to restore children psychosocial well-being.

4ULTRA-CARE: a Pilot Study on Indonesia's for Wound Care Nurses

Objective: Ultrasonography (U/S) is a non-invasive and cost-effective tool for detecting soft tissue and bone abnormalities. However, its use among wound care nurses in Indonesia remains unexplored. This quasi-experimental study aimed to assess the effectiveness of the ULTRA-CARE training programme in enhancing the knowledge, skills and attitude of nurses in using U/S in wound care practice. Method: A pre-and post-test study (without control) was conducted with wound care nurses attending the ULTRA-CARE training programme. The curriculum consisted of a two-day training exercise: theoretical sessions (day 1) and practical sessions using two portable U/S devices (day 2). The Kirkpatrick model was used to assess training effectiveness across four levels: (1) satisfaction; (2) knowledge/skills; (3) behaviour; and (4) self-perceived clinical outcomes. Pre-and post-training assessments were analysed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Results: A total of nine wound care nurses were included. Significant improvement in post-test knowledge scores was observed (p=0.012). Participants reported >= 80% satisfaction (Level 1) and positive self-perceived behavioural changes (Level 3). For Levels 2 and 4, two participants reported confidence levels <80%, though overall improvements in perceived diagnostic capabilities were noted. Conclusion: The findings of this study showed that the ULTRA-CARE programme significantly enhanced participants' knowledge and attitudes toward U/S use in wound care. Scaling up similar programmes or future studies could enhance early osteomyelitis detection, reduce the number of amputations, and improve patient outcomes in resource-limited settings. Declaration of interest: This study was funded by The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendikti Saintek) of Indonesia. The authors have no conflicts of interest to declare.

5Digital Ethics, Cultural Values, and Self-Regulation of Social Media Activities in Indonesia and Malaysia
    Erman Anom,Saddam Rassanjani

The rapid expansion of social media in Indonesia and Malaysia has generated new ethical challenges that dominant digital ethics and self-regulation frameworks, grounded mainly in Western individualistic assumptions, cannot adequately explain. While existing studies focus on legal regulation, digital literacy, or normative prescriptions, they rarely examine how cultural values shape individual self-regulation in non-Western digital contexts. This study addresses this gap by critically analysing the relationships between digital ethics, cultural values, and self-regulation in social media practices in Indonesia and Malaysia. Drawing on a structured narrative literature review and thematic analysis of recent scholarly sources, the study demonstrates that digital ethical behaviour in both countries is deeply embedded in collectivist norms, religious morality, and culturally specific mechanisms such as shame, social harmony, and communal accountability. Based on this analysis, the article proposes a novel conceptual framework—Contextual Digital Self-Regulation—which conceptualises ethical digital behaviour as emerging from the interaction of three interconnected layers: the individual layer (moral reflection and personal agency), the social layer (culturally embedded norms and collective expectations), and the structural layer (policy frameworks, educational systems, and platform architectures). The study advances existing digital ethics and self-regulation theories by offering a culturally grounded, non-Western perspective that challenges Universalist and individual-centred models. The findings highlight the importance of developing digital ethics education and governance frameworks that are context-sensitive and rooted in local value systems, particularly in Southeast Asian societies.
