1Trends and Projections for Aortic Stenosis and Hypertension-Related Mortality among Older Adults in the United States: A Retrospective Population-Based Analysis.
Muhammad Imaz Bhatti, Muhammad Safiullah, Kanza Farhan, Noor ul Ain Saleem, Omar Abdullah Gill, Muhammad Talha, Muhammad Nabeel Saddique, Atif Hussain Sarwar, Richard A. Krasuski

Aortic stenosis (AS) and hypertension (HTN) frequently co-exist in older adults, worsening disease progression and increasing mortality risk compared to either condition alone. To examine mortality trends and demographic-geographic disparities from comorbid AS and HTN in the U.S. from 1999–2020. Data were extracted from the CDC WONDER Multiple Cause of Death database. Crude and age-adjusted mortality rates (CMRs, AAMRs) per 100,000 were calculated. Joinpoint regression estimated annual (APC) and average annual percent change (AAPC). Trends were projected to 2030 using an autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model. Between 1999 and 2020, 100,507 deaths were attributed to comorbid AS and HTN. The overall AAMR significantly increased (AAPC: 5.01

2YouTube, Large Language Models (llms), or Textbooks? Usage Trends and Associations with Academic Performance and Learning Satisfaction among Medical Students in Pakistan: A Cross-Sectional Study
Muhammad Ahmed, Muhammad Usman, Insha Shafique, Amna Sabir, Ikram Ullah

Medical education is transitioning from traditional didactic teaching to an integrated, technology-enhanced, self-directed model. Studies report high student satisfaction with digital resources, especially YouTube and artificial intelligence–based large language models (LLMs). However, limited comparative evidence exists on resource utilization patterns and their associations with academic performance. This study aims to identify the resources preferred by medical students, assess their satisfaction, and correlate usage patterns with academic performance in Pakistan. This cross-sectional study recruited 380 undergraduate medical students across Pakistan via convenience sampling. The data included demographics, usage frequency, and satisfaction levels for textbooks, institutional lectures, YouTube, LLMs, and medical websites. The primary outcome was the self-reported score in the most recent annual professional examination. Data were analyzed via the Mann–Whitney U test, the Kruskal–Wallis H test, and hierarchical multiple linear regression, controlling for sex, institution type, and year of study. Textbooks (55.8

3Early-career Training in Neurosurgery Post-Covid: Simulation, Mentorship, and Minimal Case-Volume Concerns.
Tirath Patel, Ehtisham Haider, Fizza Zaheer, Muhammad Abbas, Bhumi Daishik Patel

Early-career neurosurgeon training has not yet fully recovered from the decrease in operative exposure that began during the early COVID era. Elective case cancellations, redeployment, and limited staff access to operating rooms reduced the chances of graduated responsibility across a variety of settings and widened existing gaps in the global workforce. Much of this was addressed by numerous programs that reinforced the application of simulation using inexpensive models and virtual environments, helping keep skills developing in the absence of practical experience. It was reported that simulator hours and trainee confidence improved, although practical surgery was needed to consolidate them. Online instruction, video-conferencing dissections, and organized mentoring also assisted learning, particularly in areas where training facilities are not evenly distributed. New interest in digital tools and early uses of artificial intelligence were indicative of a larger project to create flexible training systems. Developing a systematic roadmap that brings together case-log surveillance, simulation, video assessment, stratified mentorship, and partners in networks can help stabilize and modernize early career neurosurgical education.

4Triboelectric Metamaterial Stents: Self-Powered Motility Monitoring in Post-Esophagectomy Conduits
Zarqa Yasin, Maryam Nasir, Noor Ul Ain Saleem, Abdul Haseeb Hasan

Anastomotic leaks following esophagectomy remain a major source of morbidity and mortality, yet current postoperative surveillance relies on intermittent imaging and clinical assessment, which may delay recognition. There is a paucity of objective, ongoing gastric conduit function monitoring. We suggest a self-powered stent made of triboelectric metamaterials that produce electrical signals by capturing mechanical energy from peristaltic motion. The conduit’s cyclic deformation generates measurable intraluminal pressure data that is wirelessly delivered for analysis in real time. Motility profiles that deviate from expectations may be early signs of anastomotic compromise. While earlier research validates the accuracy of intraluminal pressure monitoring in the gastrointestinal tract, recent developments in triboelectric nanogenerators and implantable biodegradable devices support the viability of this strategy. A unique approach to ongoing postoperative surveillance is provided by integrating triboelectric energy harvesting with stent design, which may enable earlier leak detection and improve patient outcomes.

5Efficacy of Rituximab Plus Lenalidomide Regimens in Follicular Lymphoma: a Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

Follicular lymphoma (FL) is an incurable, indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma with a high relapse rate despite effective chemoimmunotherapy. Lenalidomide, an immunomodulatory agent, in combination with rituximab (R²), has been evaluated as an alternative to chemoimmunotherapy and to other standard regimens in FL. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of R² compared with standard regimens in FL. A PRISMA-guided search of PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library through May 2025 identified randomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing R² to rituximab monotherapy, chemoimmunotherapy, or lenalidomide alone. Four RCTs (n = 1315 patients) were included. Primary endpoints were overall response rate (ORR), complete response (CR) and partial response (PR). Secondary outcomes were 2-year progression-free survival (PFS), 3-year overall survival (OS) and adverse events. R² did not differ significantly from comparators in 2-year PFS in the primary analysis (RR = 1.53, 95
