Homoeopathy University is a private university located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. It was founded in 2010.
Background: A transient increase in intraabdominal pressure as in coughing, laughing and sneezing leads to involuntary escape of urine especially in women after parturition, because of weakening of pelvic floor muscles. This is called as Stress Urinary Incontinence (SUI). Urinary leakage hampers the normal life of a female specially when she works outdoor. This case series is exploring the usefulness of homoeopathic medicine Sepia officinalis for cases of stress urinary incontinence in parous females of reproductive age group along with pelvic floor exercise (PFE). Methodology: The study subjects were parous females of reproductive age. The confirmation of the presence of stress urinary incontinence (SUI) was done through questionnaire for Urinary Incontinence Diagnosis (QUID). Symptoms were leakage of some or more amount of urine on physical activities which are responsible for increased intra-abdominal pressure like coughing, sneezing, laughing or lifting weight etc. A baseline one-hour pad weight test done (1-hour PWT). Sepia officinalis was the individualised homoeopathic medicine for all females included in this study along with initiation of a standard regime of pelvic floor exercise. The cases were followed up for a median period of six months. 1-hour PWT repeated after three and six months and compared for the improvements. Descriptive statistics was used for analysis. Results: The baseline and post treatment readings of 1-hour PWT showed tremendous differences and the females became free from urinary leakage on physical activities. No side effects or adverse drug reactions encountered. Conclusion: The individualised Homoeopathic medicine Sepia officinalis along with pelvic floor exercise produced promising outcomes in the treatment of cases of stress urinary incontinence in parous females of reproductive age group; further comparative and evidence- based studies can be taken using biofeedback and perineometer on larger sample size.
Background & Objectives: Mental disorders are a major threat to public health, posing a challenge to the medical fraternity. The sweep of Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) had a major psychological impact on the community. A survey of the Indian population showed a prevalence of 28.2% suffering from Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) during the pandemic. The homoeopathic system offers a wide range of medicines for mental illnesses with the uniqueness of its holistic approach, and this study aims to explore the usefulness of homoeopathic medicines in PTSD. Materials & Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study (RCS) of 50 PTSD cases screened from the OPD case records (2020-2022) treated with homoeopathic medicines. Out of which 30 cases, those that fulfilled the predefined inclusion criteria were taken for analysis. The cases assessed by the Clinician-administered PTSD scale 5 (CAPS-5) before & after treatment, and completed at least six months of follow-up, were considered. Further, for evaluating the causal attribution of the outcome to homeopathic medicine, the Modified Naranjo Criteria evaluation tool was administered for all the cases. The study was registered in the Clinical Trial Registry of India (CTRI) with the number CTRI/2022/08/044948 before initiating the retrospective data collection. Results: The statistical analysis of the retrospectively collected data from 30 PTSD cases treated with homoeopathic medicines showed a statistically significant reduction in the CAPS-5 score (p < .0001) after treatment. 93% (n=28) of cases showed complete resolution of symptoms within six months, as the Modified Naranjo Criteria evaluation tool showed +9, and the rest of the cases (n=2) showed +7. Conclusion: The Retrospective Cohort Study (RCS) showed a beneficial role of homoeopathy in the effective management of PTSD cases. Further validation through well-designed RCTs is warranted.
A bstract Dr. B. K. Sarkar started his medical career as an allopathic physician, but after witnessing miraculous cures by homoeopathic treatment, he became a converted homoeopath. He achieved excellence in different domains of homoeopathy, like education, research, practice, organizational set-up, legislature, and publications. Under his dynamic leadership, many state and national-level seminars and conferences were organized to popularize homoeopathy. His writings in the form of books and articles will keep him immortal among the future generations of homoeopathy.
Homoeopathy discovered by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann is the safest form of treatment to the humankind. He focussed on the treatment without any ill-effects or harming the sufferer. Abortion, having many worse effect on the human body can be managed by sophistical use of Homoeopathy. In this case, of induced abortion, from 4 months was managed by the homoeopathic medicine Sulphur as per the portrait of the case. Homoeopathic prescription is incomplete without the use of repertory. The case result showed the power of prescription through the correct similimum that someone could expect with the surgical interference; whilst this case overpowers such notion.
Palmar/hand dermatitis is a common, chronic and multifactorial disease. It is usually related to occupational or routine household activities. Its aetiology is difficult to determine in most cases and its treatment is challenging. It may become severe and disabling to many patients over time. We report the case of a 50-year-old woman who presented with palmar dermatitis, dryness and cracking of the skin of hands and itchy eruption on palms for 2 years. Based on individualisation according to the presenting totality (grief, despair, restlessness, sadness and aversion for bathing) and pathological diagnosis (dry and cracked skin of palm), Sulphur was prescribed in increasing potencies. The symptoms disappeared within 3 months and the patient reported that she felt relaxed, which had eluded her for 2 years. This case provides evidence supporting the effectiveness of individualised homoeopathic medicine in cases of palmar dermatitis.
