Information is given about construction of Subansiri Lower Hydro Power—that is one of the most powerful Hydro Powers in India, is given analysis of construction of the main structures, in particular information about construction of diversion tunnels.
This article provides information on the prerequisites for the implementation of work on the development of an arrangement of pumped storage power plants (PSPP) in the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This article also describes the procedure for determining potential locations for PSPP, the criteria for assessing the suitability and priority of sites, the main parameters of PSPP for the identified sites, the results of a reconnaissance survey, and the information on the main design and planning solutions for river and lake PSPP.
The article considers the feasibility of increasing the heterogeneity of an underwater landscape attractive for hydrobionts’ sedentary habitation through equipping it with reef modules. The following common reef modular parts are proposed: the supporting bowl and the L-shaped beam. Various constructions of landmarks-substrates, shelters, and hunting ambushes can be assembled from them, thus promoting habitable lotic development of the bottom relief into the water column. Moreover, using different height modifications of reef modules and retrofitting them with both imitators and annually regenerating natural aquatic vegetation enables placing such modules not only in deep-water reservoir areas, but also in shallow waters drained for the winter.
The article presents an enhanced approach proposed by the authors for calculation of turbine blocks with a steel-lined reinforced concrete spiral case of high-head hydraulic power plants that allows to perform calculations of such complex structures more efficiently. Domestic and foreign experience in numerical and experimental studies of such structures was considered during the development of the approach. The approach was validated by comparing it with the results of an experiment on a large-scale model of the Rogun HPP turbine block.
Jiali Fault plays a key role in the dextral fault system in the southeastern Tibetan Plateau. Although it forms a striking topographic lineament the Yigong and Parlung Rivers, evidence for faulting in the Holocene has been equivocal. In this study, Holocene sediment deformation caused by the Jiali Fault was discovered in the debris flow fan near the Guxiang barrier lake. A palaeo-earthquake event that occurred between 3494 and 2865 cal B.P. was revealed, as evidenced by geological, seismic, and radiocarbon dating investigations. On the basis of a compilation of dating results, the middle segment of the Jiali Fault was proposed to belong to a Holocene active fault. This was attributed to the strong influence of the continued north eastwards compression of the Indian Plate and the clockwise rotation of the eastern Himalayan syntaxis. These findings provide new insights into the tectonic implications and earthquake activity of the southeastern Tibetan Plateau.
