A new set of quinazolin-4-one–based chalcones was prepared from 3-(4-acetylphenyl)-2- methylquinazolin-4(3H)-one (1) via a base-catalyzed Claisen–Schmidt condensation with substituted aromatic aldehydes. Synthesis was conducted using either a conventional NaOH/EtOH protocol or a solvent-minimized mechanochemical grinding approach. The grinding method delivered chalcones 3a–j and 5 in improved yields (85–94
This study explores how inclusive leadership shapes attitudes toward multicultural education, with particular attention to the mediating role of psychological empowerment. A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a stratified random sample of 605 teachers working in public schools across a culturally diverse region of southeastern T & uuml;rkiye. Data were collected via standardized self-report instruments and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling. The results showed that inclusive leadership positively predicted psychological empowerment and attitudes toward multicultural education, while psychological empowerment partially mediated this relationship. The final model explained 48.5% of the variance in psychological empowerment and 51.7% in multicultural education attitudes. These findings highlight that inclusive leadership fosters interpersonal inclusion and cultivates internal psychological conditions that make teachers more receptive to equity-driven and culturally sustaining practices. The study underscores the importance of leadership development and teacher empowerment initiatives in advancing school multicultural responsiveness. Strengthening inclusive leadership can catalyze inclusive pedagogy and systemic equity in diverse educational contexts. However, the findings should be interpreted in light of inherent limitations, including the cross-sectional design and reliance on self-report measures. Nonetheless, the study extends existing leadership and empowerment models by situating them within multicultural education in a centralized system such as T & uuml;rkiye.
Accurate power prediction and fault detection in photovoltaic (PV) systems are essential for improving energy efficiency and enabling predictive maintenance. This study proposes a novel hybrid regression model based on a stacking ensemble architecture, which integrates multiple machine learning algorithms: histogram-based gradient boosting (HGB), k-nearest neighbors (k-NN), decision tree (DT), random forest (RF), and LightGBM as base learners and employs Ridge regression as the meta-learner. The model was designed to detect complex fault conditions such as partial shading and module-level failures using SCADA-type input features. The performance of the proposed model was evaluated using standard regression metrics (R-2,R- RMSE, MAE), achieving superior results with an R(2 )of 0.9939, RMSE of 12.0184, and MAE of 8.0544. Paired t-tests confirmed the statistical significance of performance improvements over baseline models (p < 0.05). To ensure transparency, explainability analyses were conducted using SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) and local interpretable model-agnostic explanations (LIME), which revealed that fault-related features had the greatest influence on model predictions. Comparative evaluation with recent state-of-the-art approaches demonstrated that the proposed hybrid model is scalable, computationally efficient, and robust under varying environmental and operational conditions. The findings suggest that the model can serve as a reliable and interpretable solution for real-time power forecasting and fault detection in PV systems.
This paper aimed to fill a gap in the literature on autobiographical memory-sharing and family narrative. It explores the functions of memory-sharing and the perceived characteristics of preferred/unpreferred listeners. The study designated parents as listeners and children as narrators, focusing on sharing negative memories of guilt. The method involved semi-structured interviews, analyzed using Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis, with 11 Turkish male and female participants. Regardless of parents’ gender, participants identified directive and emotion regulation as the primary functions of memory sharing. When adolescents selected their mothers as preferred listeners, the characteristics of availability and empathy were mainly reported. In contrast, fathers were preferred as listeners for their good listening skills and logical advice. Fathers may be less preferred as listeners, mainly due to their unavailability and a tendency towards harsh criticism. Meanwhile, mothers were deemed unpreferred listeners due to poor listening skills and a tendency towards dramatization.
Cadmium (Cd) is a widespread environmental pollutant that accumulates primarily in the kidneys and induces nephrotoxicity through oxidative stress, inflammation, and structural damage. Visnagin, has been reported to exhibit antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. This study aimed to investigate the protective effects of visnagin against cadmium-induced renal toxicity in rats. Twenty-eight adult Wistar albino rats were randomly assigned into four groups (n = 7): Control, Cadmium (Cd; 3 mg/kg CdCl₂, i.p.), Visnagin + Cadmium (Vis + Cd; 60 mg/kg visnagin orally + CdCl₂), and Visnagin (Vis;60 mg/kg visnagin orally). Treatments were administered daily for 15 days. Renal tissues were collected for histopathological examination using H E and PAS staining. To determine anti-Bax and anti-Bcl-2 immunreactivity were applied immunohistochemistry. Oxidative stress parameters (MDA, SOD, GPX1) and inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, IL-6) were analyzed in kidney tissue by ELISA. Serum BUN and creatinine levels were measured to evaluate renal function. Data were statistically analyzed using appropriate parametric and nonparametric tests. Cadmium exposure caused significant renal damage, characterized by tubular dilation, glomerular atrophy, basement membrane thickening, increased inflammatory infiltration, elevated MDA, IL-1β, and IL-6 levels, reduced SOD and GPX1 activities, and increased serum BUN and creatinine levels (p < 0.05). Visnagin treatment significantly attenuated Cd-induced histopathological alterations, suppressed oxidative stress and inflammatory responses, and improved renal function parameters. Visnagin reduced apoptotic damage by reversing CD-induced Bax increase and Bcl-2 loss. In conclusion, visnagin exerts a significant nephroprotective effect against cadmium-induced kidney injury through antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and functional preservation mechanisms.
