The Pontifical Catholic University of Goiás (Portuguese: Pontifícia Universidade Católica de Goiás, PUC-Goiás) is a private and non-profit Pontifical catholic university, located in Goiânia (headquarters) and Ipameri, is the first university of the State of Goiás. It is maintained by the Catholic Archdiocese of Goiânia.Founded on October 19, 1961, by the Sociedade Goiana de Cultura, a non-profit foundation maintained by the Catholic Archdiocese of Goiânia, PUC Goiás is the oldest higher education institution of the state and of the Central-Western region, preceding by two months the foundation of UFG. According to INEP.In 2009, Polish Cardinal Zenon Grocholewski, 69, prefect of the Congregation for Catholic Education of the Vatican visited the university. The visit is in honor of 50 years existence of the university. Renowned University of Pontifical Right, the UCG will be the seventh institution in Brazil with a similar title and 31st in the world. Five years ago the university began the process to become PUC, which will cause the institution now has an ecclesiastic bond not only with the local bishop, but also with the Vatican. Thus, all decisions must come from the pope, who appointed and qualified, including the Grand Chancellor and Provost of the institution. "The university, of course, gained international prestige," stresses the dean of the UCG, Wolmir Amado.
Background Triazole fungicides, such as triadimefon (TF) and its stereoisomeric metabolite, triadimenol (TN), remain cornerstone agrochemicals. However, their stereochemistry may affect shape reactivity, intermolecular recognition, and ecotoxicity in different ways, with potential impacts on non-target species. Objective: This study employs computational methods to describe structural and electronic descriptors, quantify supramolecular interactions, and predict toxicological endpoints in silico for TF and its individual stereoisomer, TN. Methods: Density functional theory calculations were employed to optimize the molecular geometries and calculate reactivity descriptors at the M06-2×/6–311++G(d,p) level of theory. The intermolecular interactions were compared using Hirshfeld surface analysis, quantum theory of atoms in molecules, and natural bond orbital analysis. Chemical reactivity descriptors were calculated to assess reactive sites. Pharmacophore modeling was performed to verify the potential of the six isomers to interact with the lanosterol 14α-demethylase target. Toxicity was predicted using computational models available online. Results: Differences were found between the electronic properties and intermolecular interactions of TF and TN, due to the presence of –OH or –CO– functional groups. These variations influence the molecular electrostatic potential, reactivity descriptors, and interaction energies, affecting their biological behavior. The results of the pharmacophore modeling suggest that only the 1R-TF, 1S,2R-TN, and 1S,2S-TN isomers demonstrated potential for interaction with the lanosterol 14α-demethylase target. Toxicity predictions revealed that some triadimenol stereoisomers exhibit a greater potential for adverse effects on non-target organisms when compared to TF. Conclusion: The findings highlight the crucial role of stereochemistry in modulating the chemical behavior and toxicity of triazole fungicides. Additionally, the use of in silico methods proves effective in predicting the ecotoxicological profiles of such compounds and supports the development of safer and more sustainable agrochemical practices.
Parkinson's Disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative condition that affects the motor system, causing tremor, muscular rigidity, and bradykinesia. Early detection is essential to improve patients' quality of life. In this work, the potential of keystroke dynamics was investigated as a noninvasive approach to assist in the detection of PD using machine learning techniques. Additionally, SHAP-based explainability methods were employed to analyze the contribution of features to the models' decisions. The results reinforce the potential of keystroke dynamics as a low-cost tool to support the detection of neuromotor alterations associated with Parkinson's Disease.
Background:The optimal venous access route for cardiac implantable electronic device implantation remains debated. Objective:We compared the efficacy and safety of subclavian vein puncture (SVP), cephalic vein cutdown (CVP), and axillary vein puncture guided by fluoroscopy (FL-AVP) and ultrasound (US-AVP). Methods:A systematic search of PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Central, and Web of Science (until September 24, 2025) identified randomized and observational studies comparing ≥2 venous access techniques for cardiac implantable electronic device implantation in adults. A frequentist random-effects network meta-analysis estimated odds ratios (ORs) or standardized mean differences with 95% confidence intervals. Heterogeneity, network consistency, and ranking probabilities were assessed using P scores. Results:Of the 4316 records screened, 25 studies (130,831 patients) were included. CVP was significantly less successful than FL-AVP (OR 0.18), SVP (OR 0.14), and US-AVP (OR 0.17). SVP carried a higher risk of overall complications than US-AVP (OR 2.21). Procedure time was longer for CVP than for FL-AVP or US-AVP. FL-AVP entailed greater fluoroscopy time and radiation exposure than US-AVP. Pneumothorax occurred less frequently with CVP and FL-AVP than with SVP, whereas lead dislodgement and pericardial effusion were less common with CVP than with SVP. Network ranking favored SVP for procedural success and US-AVP for safety and radiation reduction. Conclusion:Axillary (ultrasound- or fluoroscopy-guided) and cephalic approaches outperform subclavian puncture in risk-benefit. US-AVP is considered the first-line technique, FL-AVP is a valid alternative when ultrasound is unavailable, and CVP is preferred for selected anatomies. In contrast, SVP should be reserved for bailout cases.PROSPERO CRD420251017329.
