This work presents the results of seven offshore geotechnical boreholes drilled in 2023 on the Laptev Sea shelf. The Arctic Research Center of Rosneft conducted investigations as part of an innovative development program to study subsea permafrost in areas with promising geological structures. Based on these new data, in combination with previously obtained results, the widespread occurrence of frozen sediments on the Laptev Sea shelf has been reliably established for the first time. The study reveals distinctive features of their cryogenic structure and identifies high gas saturation in the upper part of the geological section.
The analysis of changes in the tax code regarding the specifics of the application of deductions on excise taxes for oil and petroleum products in the context of the impact on the accounting and analytical system of Belarusian refineries is carried out. A number of problems and significant aspects have been identified that complement the essence of excise duty as a tax and, accordingly, require improvement of existing approaches to their accounting. In particular, the issues of accounting for negative excise taxes, detailing the main and compensating component of tax deductions for petroleum products, the origin of oil and elements forming the excise tax rate for oil, problems of interaction and information exchange with government agencies are highlighted. As a basic way to solve these problems, the necessity of using a separate account for accounting for excise tax deductions is justified, which makes it possible to make changes in the accounting and analytical system of Belarusian refineries in terms of negative excise taxes more effective.
This paper covers the experience of upgrading cat-cracked gasoline (CCG) using the existing units at the Kuibyshev Refinery under export restrictions. We describe the quality of the feedstock and yield, along with the operating parameters for CCG hydrotreatment. The implementation of certain technological solutions made it possible to increase the load of catalytic reforming and isomerization units, thereby providing an additional volume of feedstock for the production of environmentally friendly high octane number motor gasolines.
The aim of the article is to identify current structural changes in the world energy system and their relation to geopolitical and economic processes. The research is based on the methods of systemic and economic analysis, the expert assessment system, and general research methods used to study economic phenomena, including analysis of historical records, time series, and the analogy method. The article demonstrates that the calls of proponents of an accelerated energy transition to abandon the use of fossil fuels are not scientifically sound and are practically unrealistic. The article also examines a number of ongoing processes of large-scale geopolitical transformation that affect the global energy system, such as declining global dominance of industrialized countries in economy, trade and technology, and the weakening role of the US dollar as an international reserve currency. A special emphasis is given to the strategic importance of Russia's hydrocarbon resource base and its contribution to the long-term energy security of Eurasia. The continued growth in global demand for fossil fuels is inevitable as rising living standards in developing countries, coupled with the development of data centers, will drive a steady increase in global energy consumption. With greater energy intensity, transportability and energy flow density, fossil fuels are far superior to renewables in terms of investment efficiency, and therefore hydrocarbons will continue to hold a central position in the global energy system. The research findings emphasize the need to give up utopian energy transition scenarios embedded in state policies and corporate strategies in favor of pragmatic solutions based on current technological and economic realities.
The East Barents Megabasin (EBM) is a system of sedimentary basins in the Russian sector of the Barents Sea. A large amount of new seismic data has been acquired in this region within recent years. In this work the evolution of the EBM is reconstructed based on new seismic data interpretation integrated with well data and data on major tectonic events on adjacent lands. Development of the EBM started as a result of Frasnian rifting at similar to 383 Ma. The subsequent postrift subsidence led to formation of a deep-water basin which was underfilled until Late Permian. In the Early Triassic, vast supply of clastic material from the North Kara Basin, Taimyr and Ural orogens resulted in final filling of the deep-water depression. The main stages of deformation during the evolution of the EBM were associated with orogenies in the Urals (Carboniferous-Permian), Novaya Zemlya (Middle Triassic-Early Jurassic), and, probably, the Verkhoyansk region (Berriasian-Barremian). In the Aptian, extensive basaltic magmatism and emplacement of intrusions took place in relation with High Arctic Large Igneous Province formation. In the Cenozoic, the final stage of deformation and erosion is identified. A new model of mechanism and onset of the EBM evolution is proposed.
