Sorbonne Paris Cité Alliance (Alliance Sorbonne Paris Cité) is a university alliance since 2019 and a former association of universities and higher education institutions (ComUE) for institutions of higher education and research in the city of Paris and the French department of Seine-Saint-Denis.The university was organized as a ComUE according to the 2013 Law on Higher Education and Research (France), effective December 30, 2014. The ComUE succeeded a similar association that had previously been effect for a few years as a Pôle de recherche et d'enseignement supérieur (PRES) with the same name, "Sorbonne Paris Cité" .
In this paper we study the convergence of a power-law model for dilatant compressible fluids to a class of models exhibiting a maximum admissible shear rate, called thick compressible fluids. These kinds of problems were studied previously for elliptic equations, starting with the work of Bhattacharya et al (1989 Rend. Sem. Mat. Univ. Politec. Torino 47 15-68), and more recently for incompressible fluids by Rodrigues (2015 J. Math. Sci. 210 11). Our result may be seen as an extension to the compressible setting of these previous works. Physically, this is motivated by the fact that the pressures generated during a squeezing flow are often large, potentially requiring the consideration of compressibility, see Fang and Gilbert (2004 Z. Anal. Anwend. 23 783-807). Mathematically, the main difficulty in the compressible setting concerns the strong hyperbolic-parabolic coupling between the density and velocity field. We obtain two main results, the first concerning the one-dimensional non-stationary compressible power-law system while the second one concerns the semi-stationary multi-dimensional case. Finally, we present an extension in one-dimension for a viscous Cauchy stress with singular dependence on the shear rate.
Telomere-related gene (TRG) pathogenic variants are detected in ∼30% of familial pulmonary fibrosis (PF) cases. Danazol, a synthetic sex hormone with androgenic properties, has been found associated with telomere elongation and hematologic response in patients with short telomeres. The objective of the ANDROTELO multicenter, prospective, open-label single-arm phase II clinical trial ( NCT03710356 ) was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of danazol in carriers of TRG mutations with PF or bone-marrow failure (BMF).Included patients were carriers of a pathogenic or likely pathogenic TRG variant and presented a PF lung involving ≥10% parenchymal involvement on chest CT (PF group) and/or severe BMF (BMF group). Treatment was danazol 400 mg twice a day for 12 months. We included 25 patients with PF (16 males) and 5 with BMF (2 males). One PF patient withdrew consent. At inclusion, the median age in the PF group was 62.5 years, FVC 69% (interquartile range 40;120) and DLCO 44% (29;84). Ten of 24 PF patients (42%) completed the 12-month treatment. Causes of premature treatment discontinuation were side effects (n=9), death (n=3), lung transplantation (n=1), and disease progression (n=1). Fourteen PF patients were evaluated at month 12: 8 showed a relative decline of FVC of <5%. The median relative decrease in FVC and DLCO was −10% (interquartile range −14;−2) and −10.3% (−22.7;4.2). The 5 patients in the BMF group completed the 12-month treatment and exhibited at least partial response. Danazol was poorly tolerated in patients with TRG-related PF in this study, thus precluding efficacy assessment.
We consider a discrete coagulation-fragmentation-diffusion system on a bounded domain of ℝ^d. In dimension d≤ 2, we prove mass conservation (that is absence of gelation) when the coagulation coefficient satisfies the critical additive bound a_i, j≤ C(i + j) for some constant C > 0. We thereby close the remaining gap between the spatially homogeneous setting and the spatially inhomogeneous diffusive setting. In dimension d≤ 4, we impose a higher decay rate on the coagulation and fragmentation coefficients, but we nonetheless prove regularity and absence of gelation under mild assumptions on the diffusion rates.
We review Hom -infinite Frobenius categorification of cluster algebras with coefficients and use it to give two applications of Jensen–King–Su’s Frobenius categorification of the Grassmannian: (1) we determine the g-vectors of the Plücker coordinates with respect to the triangular initial seed and (2) we express the F-polynomials associated with the Donaldson–Thomas transformation in terms of 3-dimensional Young diagrams thus providing a new proof for a theorem of Daping Weng.
