Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in Argentina, underscoring the importance of strengthening preventive strategies grounded on healthy lifestyle habits. In parallel, the use of dietary supplements has increased significantly, driven by social media, mar-keting claims, and the widespread availability of over-the-counter products, despite the lack of rigorous control over their composition. Although many supplements are promoted as benefi-cial for cardiovascular health or physical performance, the scientific evidence supporting these claims is limited, and in some cases, their effects in patients with established cardiovascular disease or those receiving specific treatments remain unknown. In this context, the Committee of Young Cardiologists of the Argentine Federation of Cardiology considers it necessary to issue a position statement to promote evidence-based prescribing.
Introduction: cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death among women worldwide. However, awareness of this condition, even within the healthcare sector itself, appears to be insufficient. The main objective of this study was to identify the perception of cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of death among female healthcare professionals. Methods: descriptive, cross-sectional study conducted between 2020 and 2021. Argentine female health care professionals with access to electronic devices and the internet were included. Results: the final sample consisted of 1,089 surveys. The mean age was 43.1 +/- 10.8 years, and the mean time since graduation was 16.2 +/- 10.7 years. A total of 58.7% were involved in teaching activities, and 1.2% were retired. Cardiovascular disease was not identified as the leading cause of death in women by 62.5% of participants. Only 25.9% had primary care physicians. Moreover, 59.3% reported not having undergone a clinical check-up in the previous year, and 59.9% indicated seeking informal consultations with colleagues to address health concerns. Blood pressure measurement was reported in 18.6% of gynecological visits and 62.7% of clinical check-ups. Conclusions: six out of ten health care professionals did not recognize cardiovascular disease as the leading cause of death among women. Self-care practice was low. Blood pressure measurement during medical check-ups was infrequently reported.
The effect of NO3- on crevice corrosion and subsequent stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of AA7075-T651 aluminum alloy in acidic chloride solution was investigated. In the absence of crevice, NO3- promoted passivation and suppressed localized corrosion, reducing SCC susceptibility. Conversely, in the presence of a crevice, NO3- triggered severe intergranular and exfoliation corrosion inside the crevice, substantially increasing SCC susceptibility. Mechanistic analysis revealed that NH3 generated from NO3- reduction induced selective dissolution of Cu-containing particles, forming occluded micro-gaps that initiated stable crevice corrosion. These defects acted as preferential sites for crack nucleation and accelerated SCC via anodic dissolution and hydrogen embrittlement. This study highlights the dual role of NO3- and the critical risk of crevice structures in nitratecontaining acidic environments.
Background: For the bursty and heterogeneous cloud-edge continuum, traditional threshold or single prediction/feedback scaling easily becomes unstable when crossdomain network fluctuations occur, making it difficult to optimize tail latency and cost simultaneously. Methods: Build the LB-ESPO framework, a load balancing framework, to integrate short-term arrival rate and resource demand forecasting, dual-objective optimization of SLA risk and cost, and rolling time domain control of PI feedback; and implement the engineering implementation based on Kubernetes, Knative, Service Mesh/GSLB. Results: In empirical studies across multiple data domains and three load models, LB-ESPO reduced p95 latency by 27.8% compared to leading methods, increased SLA compliance to 12.3%, and reduced costs by 18.7%. Paired testing demonstrated near-linear scalability to 32 nodes, with the incremental cost range for cross-domain migration being 0.01-0.03. Conclusion: The spatiotemporal coupling of the load balancing matrix and elasticity decisions is key to simultaneously reducing tail latency and costs in cloudedge collaboration. This framework, with its reusable implementation paths and tuning criteria, still needs to be further enhanced for robustness in the face of extreme network anomalies and multi-tenant interference.
The hydrogen permeation induced by crevice corrosion and its role in stress corrosion cracking (SCC) of PSB830 steel were investigated in chloride-containing simulated concrete pore solutions. No significant hydrogen permeation flux was detected for the specimen without a crevice, whereas the introduction of a crevice geometry triggered a sustained and spatially non-uniform hydrogen permeation process. Hydrogen permeation initiated preferentially at the crevice mouth and progressively propagated toward the interior, with its distribution strongly correlated to regions of severe localized corrosion. Crevice corrosion significantly enhanced the SCC susceptibility of PSB830 steel. This is attributed to the localized acidified environment within the crevice, which provides a continuous hydrogen source. The synergistic interaction between hydrogen ingress and stress concentration arising from corrosion damage collectively exacerbates the SCC risk in this steel grade.
