Telstra Corporation Limited is an Australian telecommunications company which builds and operates telecommunications networks and markets voice, mobile, internet access, pay television and other products and services. It is a member of the S&P/ASX 20 and Australia's largest telecommunications company by market share. Telstra is the largest wireless carrier in Australia, with 18.8 million subscribers as of 2020.Telstra has a long history in Australia, originating together with Australia Post as the Postmaster-General's Department upon federation in 1901. Telstra has transitioned from a state-owned enterprise to a fully privatised company and has recently focused on diversified products and emerging technologies..
This paper examines the pricing of options on ninety-day bank accepted bill futures contracts traded on the Sydney Futures Exchange. Pricing models are compared in two situations. The first assumes log-normally distributed prices and the second assumes log-normally distributed yields. It is found that log-normal yield-based pricing models generally outperform log-normal price-based models in terms of two error metrics, mean absolute error and mean percentage error. The comparison is based on time-matched data over the period January 1993 to June 1994. Two institutional characteristics of interest are physical delivery of bills at maturity of the futures contract and margining of the option premium. Lasing has been observed in the blue (488 nm) and red (635 nm, 717 nm) bands in a new Nd3+:Pr3+ co-doped fluorozirconate (ZBLANP) glass fiber with 796 nm pump. An upconversion and resonant energy transfer mechanism is proposed to explain the visible transitions.
This paper describes a new IM/DD optical transmission system simulation which incorporates the impact of laser diode stochastic turn-on effects on system performance. Using this simulation, experimentally observed error rate floors, due to inappropriate laser diode biasing, can be theoretically modelled and predicted, for the first time.<>
Two unrelated fields are compared within which fault diagnosis plays a significant role: medical and process control. It is argued that the diagnostic process may be seen to be very similar regardless of the domain of application, and that characteristics of human problem solving are common to all domains, including medicine and process control. However, it is shown that the kind of computer support needed to enhance diagnostic activities varies considerably between these domains. Judgemental biases and application of inappropriate heuristics are shown to be as prevalent among expert diagnosticians in both domains as among non-experts, and the complex concept of diagnosticity is apparently poorly understood. For that reason, medical experts need assistance in generating a wider range of hypotheses than they habitually consider and also in generating probabilistic information to supplement diagnostic performance. By contrast, multilevel displays that emphasize the relationship between critical variables in perceptually salient ways are needed to support process control operators.
The parameter known as the modified sheet resistance Rsk has been used in the modeling of ohmic contacts to define the region of alloying/reaction immediately below the metallization. In this study, the value of Rsk has been measured for Pd/Zn/Pd/Au, Pd/Au, Zn/Pd/Au, Au/Zn/Au, Ni/Zn/Ni/Au, Cr/Au, and Pd/Mn/Sb/Pd/Au contacts to In0.47Ga0.53As/InP as a function of the annealing temperature to 500 °C. In the as-deposited contacts, the measured value of Rsk was lower than the sheet resistance outside of the contact, Rsh, by a factor of ∼2 to 3. This reduction in Rsk from Rsh has been attributed to (a) the formation of low-resistivity phases at the interface and (b) the creation of a doped region by indiffusion of the Zn. In addition, in the Pd/Zn/Pd/Au contacts, the effect of varying the thickness of the layer of Zn between 0 and 400 Å on Rsk was examined. A thickness of Zn≥50 Å was required in order to produce a significant reduction in Rsk from the value for the Pd/Au (Zn=0 Å) contacts. This effect was enhanced by annealing at 500 °C, which produced a value of Rsk lower than Rsh by a factor of ∼10. The reduction in Rsk by annealing treatment was consistent with an enhanced formation of the interfacial phases and an increase in the rate of indiffusion of the Zn. The exceptions to these trends were in the Pd/Mn/Sb/Pd/Au contacts which showed an approximately constant value of Rsk and Pd/Au which showed a minor reduction in Rsk with increase in annealing temperature.
