This paper provides an in-depth introduction to research methods and discusses numerous aspects related to the research process. It begins with an overview of research—what it is, why it is important, what forms it might take, and what its fundamental components are—before shifting its attention to the design of research and the benefits and drawbacks of various approaches. In addition, the article details the purpose of and procedures for a literature review. Data collection, its varieties, technique selection, validity, and reliability are then addressed. Ethics in research and guidelines for research are also discussed, along with the various types of data analysis, and how results should be obtained. In addition, the paper covers topics such as reference and citation management. This paper takes a narrative approach to summarising the scholarly resources useful for introductory-level coursework in research method. Both research and writing are never-ending processes, with endless opportunities for improvement. However, the compilation of essential academic resources might help university students, researchers and research method instructors.
Patient safety in hospitals cannot be separated from the role of nurses in providing nursing care. Nursing students who practice in the room are part of the system and are required to have patient safety competencies. Therefore, increasing safety competence is needed to support the quality of service by students during clinical practice. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of the Nursing Student Patient Safety Course (Nurse-PSC) on safety competence (knowledge, skills and attitudes) before and after the course. The study was a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design approach. The number of respondents was 46 students who attended the course for eight weeks using e-learning collaboration and face-to-face meetings. Student competence was measured by Quality and Safety Competence (QSC) for bachelor nursing students (QSC-BNS) with 42 questions. The results showed that the respondents' patient safety competence increased significantly after the intervention (ρ < 0.001), all sub-variables of knowledge, skills, and attitude also showed significant improvement (p < 0.001). Therefore, the patient safety course model can be used as an effective form of learning to improve safety competence in nursing students.
Introduction: Diseases commonly observed in the elderly population are attributed to the decline in vascular functionality, with hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, being one such condition. The objective of this community service initiative is to assist senior citizens and elderly individuals in enhancing their knowledge regarding methods to reduce blood pressure levels. Additionally, it aims to enhance their proficiency in performing yoga exercises that have a positive influence on blood pressure. Method: The population in this community service activity is elderly people who are active in participating in activities organized by Posyandu Kromolio Pos 3 or Usila Mandiri Elderly School in Senggreng Village, Malang Regency. The sampling technique used is saturated sample technique or non-probability sampling. The older individuals will monitor their blood pressure during each gathering. The blood pressure assessment is conducted both prior to and following the implementation of yoga activities in order to ascertain the impact of those exercises on the blood pressure levels of older individuals. Results: At the first meeting, 58% of the elderly who attended experienced a decrease in blood pressure after doing yoga exercises. At the second meeting, 73% of the elderly who came experienced a decrease in blood pressure and 12% of the elderly did not experience changes in blood pressure before and after yoga exercises. Conclusion: Following the implementation of yoga activities as a form of treatment, a significant reduction in blood pressure was observed among the majority of senior individuals. Consequently, empirical evidence supports the assertion that yoga workouts yield beneficial effects in reducing hypertension among older individuals. Patients with chronic kidney disease during their treatment or during hemodialysis therapy will experience various health problems in their lives, especially in their quality of life. Hemodialysis therapy is the last form of therapy for patients with stage 5 chronic kidney disease. Setting and monitoring the Quick of Blood (QB) in accordance with the vascular access capability used, as well as the patient’s hemodynamic condition and comfort, is expected to affect the quality of life of chronic kidney disease patients. This research aimed to find the correlation between Quick of Blood (QB) and patient quality of life. The research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational study, and the data was taken at Hemodialysis Unit at Wava Husada Hospital Kepanjen Malang. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling, with a total of 105 respondents. The instrument used was SF 36 questionnaire. The analysis of the data used the Pearson test. The result of the analysis shows a p-value of 0.037, so there is a significant correlation between quick of blood (QB) and the quality of life of hemodialysis patients. Most of the respondents were discovered to have a moderate quality of life. Keywords: hemodialysis, quality of life, quick of blood
