    1El Ciberespacio Como Entresijo Virtual

2Physical Activity As an Alternative or Adjunct to Menopausal Hormone Therapy for Symptom Management in Women with Primary Ovarian Insufficiency.
    Félix Ayala, Juan E Blümel, María S Vallejo,Peter Chedraui,Hugo Gutiérrez-Crespo, Marcela López, Juan Matzumura-Kasana, Paolo Meza,Álvaro Monterrosa-Castro, Mónica Ñañez,Eliana Ojeda, Claudia Rey,

BACKGROUND:Physical activity alleviates menopausal symptoms in women whose menopause occurs after the age of 45; however, its effect in primary ovarian insufficiency, which occurs before the age of 40, remains unknown. OBJECTIVE:To examine the association between physical activity, menopausal symptoms, and the use of menopausal hormone therapy in women with primary ovarian insufficiency. METHODS:We analysed data from 4708 participants from two studies conducted in 12 Latin American countries. After applying eligibility criteria, 564 women with primary ovarian insufficiency (351 idiopathic and 213 surgical) were included. Menopausal symptoms were assessed using a validated scale, and severe symptoms were defined according to established cut-offs. Physical activity was classified according to international recommendations for moderate-intensity activity. Logistic regression models were adjusted for sociodemographic, clinical, and lifestyle variables. RESULTS:The prevalence of severe menopausal symptoms was 39.2%, with no significant difference between idiopathic and surgical primary ovarian insufficiency. Women with severe symptoms were less likely to meet recommended levels of physical activity or to be current users of menopausal hormone therapy. In adjusted models, regular physical activity (OR 0.65; 95% CI 0.45-0.94) and current use of menopausal hormone therapy (OR 0.27; 0.17-0.42) were associated with a lower likelihood of severe symptoms, whereas obesity and use of psychotropic medication were associated with a higher likelihood. CONCLUSIONS:Women with primary ovarian insufficiency who engage in regular physical activity or currently use menopausal hormone therapy report less severe menopausal symptoms. Regular exercise may be an important non-hormonal option for women who cannot or prefer not to use hormone therapy.

3Comparative Efficacy of Insulin and Alternative Therapies for Hypertriglyceridemia-Associated Acute Pancreatitis: A Systematic Review and Network Meta-Analysis
Alejandro Chen Liang, Yeison Cruz Castillo, Lorena M. Murrieta Bruciaga, Olivia Murga, Arti A. Patel, Gabriela Flores Monar, José García-Corella, Hector Jonan Flores Uribe, Supritha Chintamaneni, Sushovan Guha, Seyedehsan Navabi, Ernesto Calderón-Martinez

Hypertriglyceridemia-induced acute pancreatitis is associated with high triglyceride levels and may lead to significant clinical complications. Rapid TG-lowering strategies, including insulin, therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE), heparin, hemofiltration, and conservative management, are used in clinical practice; however, their comparative efficacy and impact on clinical outcomes remain uncertain. Following preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines and International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) registration (CRD420251239674), we searched PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Scopus, CINAHL, Google Scholar, and Cochrane. Primary outcomes included TG reduction, C-reactive protein (CRP), length of stay, mortality, and organ failure. Secondary outcomes included renal and respiratory failure. Random-effects network meta-analyses estimated mean differences or relative risks with 95

4Manifestaciones Clínicas Del Síndrome Multisistémico Inflamatorio Asociado a COVID-19 En Pacientes Del Hospital Pediátrico Dr. Robert Reíd Cabral, Santo Domingo, República Dominicana 2021 – 2022

5Biogeografía, Sistemas Sexuales Y Diversidad Genética En Los Cactus Foliosos Del Caribe (leuenbergeria: Cactaceae): Implicaciones Para La Conservación
Yuley Encarnación-Piñeyro, Angela E. Guerrero, Monique Brito-Romeiro, Fabian Romero, Lucas C. Majure, Gordon Burleigh

his study examines the biogeography, sexual systems, and genetic diversity of Leuenbergeria, a lineage of leafy cacti, which includes the national flower of the Dominican Republic, L. quisqueyana. Based on a time-calibrated nuclear phylogeny using 355 single-copy or low-copy loci, divergence times were estimated, and the evolutionary history of the group was reconstructed. The results indicate an origin in northern South America during the late Oligocene–early Miocene, with internal diversification primarily occurring during the Miocene. Colonization of the Greater Antilles occurred through an eastward dispersal event from Hispaniola in the mid–late Miocene, followed by secondary dispersal to Cuba. Individual heterozygosity estimates were low and showed no statistically significant relationship with insularity, sexual system, or lineage age, suggesting that genetic variation primarily reflects recent demographic processes. The combination of endemism, population fragmentation, and low genetic diversity highlights the vulnerability of several island species and provides an evolutionary and genetic framework relevant to their conservation.
