The Universidad Experimental del Táchira, also known as Universidad del Táchira or UNET, is a public university founded on February 27, 1974 in San Cristóbal, Táchira, Venezuela. Recently, the university counts with 8,240 students among undergraduate and graduate students and 686 professors. The UNET is an institution of high academic level for undergraduate and graduate students who seek for a Bachelor's degree, Master's degree, and PhD. Committed to the positive transformation of the Tachira state and the country, and whose ideal is to increase and develop the social capital area of the university and the state to increase and develop their popularity and credibility among Venezuela and Latin America. Also, to improve the development of the intellectual capital of the university in order to achieve its basic functions: teaching, extension, and research. As well as its employees and students' credibility to guarantee the quality of its educational services as academic institution.
Measuring academic performance is vital in higher education, where it plays a fundamental role beyond simple grading. Therefore, this article on student performance in Mathematics II at the Universidad Nacional Experimental del Táchira (UNET) is of great relevance, since it is considered a key indicator of academic success for a university student. Performance should be analyzed from various perspectives, including systemic and operational factors affecting the quality of education. Where evaluation, as a methodical and scientific process, provides the data required for the study of it and plays a fundamental role in understanding mathematical learning. The research has a quantitative and descriptive approach, using data from grades obtained by students in four academic periods in 2024. A statistical analysis is performed that includes central trend and scatter measures, as well as an analysis of variance (ANOVA) to compare ratings between periods. In addition, performance, dropout and failure indicators are calculated to assess students' academic performance. The results show that the average grade is close to the minimum pass mark of five points, indicating a performance which is hardly acceptable. The rate of return was above 62% in all periods, but dropout and reprobate rates were worrying, especially in 2024-0, where reprobates reached 29%. The variance analysis shows significant differences in average ratings between periods, highlighting 2024-3 as the most successful with an average of 5.26 points. In conclusion, the study underlines the need to identify areas of improvement in the teaching processes of learning in mathematics II, considering the regular average as well as high drop-out and failure rates; to promote the efficiency and quality of education at UNET.
Since antiquity, human beings have strived to access water by constructing structures to transport it from distant sources to central locations. Today, this remains a challenge, especially when it comes to supplying small, remote communities outside large centralized systems. In developing countries in particular, rural aqueducts are fundamental elements in water management. However, most of these systems are managed by communities with limited access to technical training, materials, technology, and resources in general, which hinders sound decision-making and prevents the establishment of sustainable processes. In this context, sustainability is linked to the ability of these systems to maintain certain quality conditions in technical, environmental, social, institutional, and economic aspects over time. This qualitative research focuses on the technical dimension of the service level in rural aqueducts and its impact on their sustainability. To this end, a documentary review was carried out to establish the components inherent to the mentioned dimension and their corresponding indicators. The selected components were: water source, intake structure, screening unit, adduction and conduction line, grit chamber, disinfection unit, storage tank, and distribution network. The selection principle was based on the structural units typically present in these systems. The technical components allow for the consolidation of an efficient and high-quality water supply. Proper design, the use of appropriate materials, and continuous maintenance ensure that the aqueduct operates safely and efficiently. This clearly contributes to the sustainability of the systems, as their integrity fundamentally depends on the physical components, which have a decisive influence on all dimensions of the system and constitute the essence of its operation.
Nowadays, the combination of information technologies and artificial intelligence (AI) has become a fundamental element for the transformation and competitiveness of organizations, especially in the telecommunications sector. These technologies not only optimize internal processes but also enable organizations to quickly adapt to current market demands and improve the customer experience within the telecommunications field. In this regard, this study analyzed the impact of information technologies on artificial intelligence (AI) within the company Digitel, Authorized Agent Espacio Digital, C.A., located in Acarigua, Portuguesa state. It was also possible to measure how these technologies improve operational efficiency and customer service. To this end, a quantitative approach was used through a non-experimental and descriptive design, applying surveys to 15 employees of the company. The results indicated that 87% of the respondents stated that software platforms and AI tools are used, which has contributed to an 80% decrease in response time to customer requests and a 67% increase in customer satisfaction. However, 60% of employees considered that the company lacks the necessary resources to implement new AI tools, which could limit its potential. Additionally, 67% of the workers reported that improvements in AI-related processes have been suggested in the past six months. In conclusion, the research showed that, although Digitel has integrated advanced technologies that have optimized its operations and improved customer service, it still faces challenges in maximizing its impact, suggesting the need to invest in resources and staff training to strengthen the use of AI in the future.
