This study evaluated the behavioral and productive responses of European quails (Coturnix coturnix) to environmental enrichments designed to mitigate monotonous confinement conditions. A total of 192 quails (96 females and 96 males) were distributed in a completely randomized 2 × 2 × 4 factorial design, comprising two lineages (LF1 and LF2), two sexes, and four enrichment treatments (control, beads, red wool, and beads + red wool), with 12 replicates per treatment combination. Behavior was recorded by eight cameras and assessed at five-minute intervals using an ethogram comprising 11 predefined behaviors. Behavioral diversity was evaluated using the Shannon index. Females had higher body weight, weight gain, and tissue mass than males, while lineage 2 showed higher body weight and tissue values than lineage 1. Enrichment did not affect surface body temperature, feed intake, or performance. A significant treatment × sex interaction indicated sex-dependent behavioral responses, with differences in behavioral diversity among male treatment groups. Overall, low-cost environmental enrichment promoted behavioral variation without impairing productive performance, although physiological stress indicators are needed for a more definitive welfare assessment.
Contemporary medical education faces the challenge of integrating technical and humanistic competencies, overcoming the predominance of the traditional biomedical model. Among the practices that facilitate this integration, theater has proven to be a privileged space for developing sensitivity, ethical reflection, and relational skills. This qualitative study analyzed the experiences of 33 medical students and alumni participating in a university theater group, seeking to understand how this experience influences their personal, social, and professional trajectories. Semi-structured interviews conducted between January and February 2025 were examined through thematic content analysis, ensuring rigor by theoretical saturation and triangulation. Four interrelated formative areas emerged: personal transformations, relational competencies, professional impacts, and belonging. Theater proved to be an aesthetic-affective formative methodology, reinforcing the pertinence of artistic practices in medical education as strategies for comprehensive training and the humanization of care.
Coffee farming is crucial for Brazil, the world leader in coffee production and export. Strategies like the "safra zero”, which involve practices such as skeleton pruning, have been adopted to rejuvenate coffee plants and optimize production in alternate years. This contributes to reducing costs and labor demand. Faced with the environmental and economic challenges of coffee cultivation, bio-inputs stand out as a sustainable alternative in crop management, especially during vegetative recovery phases. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the effects of applying bio-inputs to coffee plants subjected to skeleton pruning. The experiment was conducted using a randomized block design, in split plots, with eight treatments: five bacterial strains (UNIFENAS 100-94, Azospirillum brasilense, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Bacillus megaterium, and Bacillus subtilis), organized into six combinations, plus a treatment with A. brasilense isolated and a control, with four replicates. Applications occurred in March, April, August, and September. Plant height, plagiotropic branch length, and the number of buds were evaluated every 30 days. At the end, soil and leaf chemical analyses were also performed. Plant height and branch length did not differ significantly between treatments, but the number of buds showed a difference at 210 days when the UNIFENAS 100-94 and P. fluorescens strains were used. All analyzed variables evolved over time. Nutrient levels increased with the use of bio-inputs. It is concluded that these inputs show potential in the post-pruning management of coffee plants.
