The University of Teramo (Italian: Università degli Studi di Teramo) is an Italian public research university located in Teramo, Italy. The academic institution was officially established in 1993 after having been a detached section of the D'Annunzio University of Chieti–Pescara for over 30 years..
Neoadjuvant therapy (NAT) in breast cancer enables tumor downstaging and response evaluation. Although magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is the gold standard, its limitations have prompted growing interest in alternatives such as contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM). This review was conducted according to PRISMA guidelines. We evaluated CEM accuracy in predicting pathological complete response after NAT, using surgery as reference standard. A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed/Medline, Embase, Cochrane, and Web of Science. Two reviewers screened studies, extracted data, and evaluated risk of bias with QUADAS-2 tool. A bivariate random-effects model estimated diagnostic odds ratio (DOR), sensitivity, specificity, and likelihood ratios. Summary receiver operating characteristic (sROC) curves were generated, and heterogeneity was quantified using Higgins’ I2. Publication bias was assessed via Deek’s funnel plot. Fifteen studies, including 793 patients, met inclusion criteria. The pooled analysis showed a DOR of 9.30 (95
This paper analyses the economic impact of tourism on the Italian economy through an integrated empirical application of Tourism Satellite Accounts (TSA) and Input–Output (IO) analysis. Rather than proposing a wholly new methodological framework, the study refines and applies established TSA-based IO integration techniques to the Italian case using official ISTAT data. Tourism is constructed as a composite sector by weighting economic branches according to TSA tourism coefficients and embedding them within the national IO system. This allows the estimation of output and value-added multipliers, as well as backward and forward linkages, in order to assess the sector’s intersectoral role within the Italian production structure. The findings indicate that tourism exhibits above-average dispersion effects and a solid capacity to activate production across the economy, although its forward integration within production chains remains comparatively limited. The contribution of the paper lies in providing a transparent and replicable empirical application for Italy, clarifying key assumptions underlying TSA–IO integration, and discussing the sensitivity of results to aggregation choices and tourism coefficients.
The essay deals with the conduct of the Congregation de Propaganda fide during two crises (1679-86 and 1794-95) provoked by four apostolic missionaries due to their anti-slavery positions: the four Capuchin missionaries doubted the doctrine of "just title servitude", preached, and acted-while giving no absolutions to slaves' owners-against the slave trade and against the exploitation of Native Americans and Africans in the Americas, the Antilles and on the coasts of West-Central Africa. The Capuchins were silenced by various players in the overseas empires and in Europe. Their questioning of slavery provoked divergent and opposing reactions in Rome, as the Congregation of the Holy Office, Propaganda fide, and the popes had different and uneven reactions, taking different decisions for or against slavery.
Software Ecosystem (SECO) has emerged as a crucial concept, which represents a collaborative and interconnected environment in which a variety of actors engage in developing software systems. SECOs play a key role in the development of Cyber-Physical Systems (CPSs), that present a myriad of challenges, primarily due to the need for real-time responsiveness, reliability, security, and interoperability. The implications of leveraging SECOs for developing CPSs are profound in both research and practice. This paper aims to understand the collaboration between industry and academia within SECOs for the development of CPSs, identifying potential challenges and providing insights and guidelines for the proper management of these collaborations. We conducted a systematic literature review (SLR), complemented by empirical evidence collected through an opinion survey administered to the partners of the European collaborative project AIDOaRt, a concrete example of a SECO, which worked on the development of CPSs. From these findings we discuss the identified challenges, and potential effects on collaboration, in addition to our lessons learned in the AIDOaRt project and SECO.
The growing focus on sustainability and safety in analytical laboratories has led to the development and adoption of new tools and approaches that can be traced back to the principles of green and white analytical chemistry. This review provides a critical overview of the main tools employed in analytical chemistry to reduce environmental impact, improve efficiency, and simultaneously ensure high analytical performance and operator health protection. Continuous updating and ongoing research have allowed us to increase, over the last two years, the number of tools present in the literature, focusing not only on green analytical chemistry, but also on performance and practicability. The latest tools, however, do not only concern these principles of green and/or white chemistry, but other parameters of analytical importance such as reliability, carbon footprint, stability and innovation. This manuscript focuses on the latest tools, analysing advantages and disadvantages, approaches, innovations, and ease of use.
