
This paper describes the first two Georissus species in the Philippines, namely G. fikaceki sp. n. from Luzon (Ilocos Norte, La Union) and G. tsokolate sp. n. from Bohol. The new species can be differentiated morphologically from their congeners due to the patterns of bulges and ridges near the frons, microsculptures on the pronotum, elevations formed by intervals in the elytra, and aedeagal details. Close examination of morphology suggests that the Philippine species cannot be assigned to any of the currently acknowledged Georissus subgenera, and thus this study suggests revisions and updating of the current subgeneric classification. Corroborating the morphological differences, COI-5′ DNA data shows a high interspecific genetic distance of 17.75% between the two new species and intraspecific distances <3% for both species. This paper also generates the first barcodes and a checklist of Georissus in Southeast Asia.
Two new genera and five new species of Psychodinae, namely Archipelomyia coronata gen. n. et sp. n., Neotelmatoscopus expectandus sp. n., Nototelmatoscopus cabayuganensis sp. n., Palawanmyia styltenaculata gen. n. et sp. n. and Paramormia serrata sp. n. are described based on male specimens collected from the island and intra-Philippine biogeographic region of Palawan. Brunettia ( Horobrunettia ) amoena Quate or a currently morphologically indistinguishable species is recorded for the first time from the island. Diagnostic characters are illustrated by line drawings. Problems with the generic assignment of the new species are discussed. Two Psychodinae larvae, Neotelmatoscopus sp. and an unidentified morph, are recorded from one of the collecting sites and illustrated using photomicrographs. Aspects of emergence trap collection and taxonomic impediments in Oriental Psychodidae are briefly elaborated upon. An updated checklist of Psychodidae recorded from the Philippines is provided.
Among insects, the description of the morphology of immature life stages is often less extensive than that of adults. This is also the case with the subfamily Cholevinae (Coleoptera: Leiodidae). Of the 39 species of Cholevinae known to occur in the Netherlands, only the larvae of 15 species are described in the literature, often insufficiently. To develop new descriptions and identification keys for the larvae, specimens from Germany and the Netherlands, mainly collected by Peter Zwick and Menno Schilthuizen respectively, were examined. In addition, an extensive inventory of the literature was carried out. From this, keys were constructed and descriptions were made covering all three larval stages of all four tribes occurring in the Netherlands, consisting of 28 Dutch species as well as five other species. For distinction of tribes, mandible shape and the relative length of urogomphomere I were primarily used, whereas for distinction of species, chaetotaxy of the mandible, maxilla, antenna, tergite, and urogomphus was primarily used. More specimens should be collected to confirm the characteristics used in the keys and the descriptions, as the existing specimens may not represent the full range of intraspecific variation, some specimens may be worn down, and some specimens appear to have been misidentified. Although the keys are currently not usable for the full identification to species, they do provide a scaffold for the further development of a key to the species of Northwestern Europe. Additionally, the morphological characteristics used in the keys may be related to the diets of the larvae and be used to further investigate the phylogeny of the group, such as the paraphyly of Catops Paykull, 1798 and the delineation of the Catops fuscus -group.
A collection of Laphriinae collected by Volkert van der Goot and Jan Lucassen in 1971 in Japan and deposited in the collection of Naturalis Biodiversity Centre, Leiden, including two new species, Choerades hirsuta sp. n. and C. obscura sp. n., is described below.
Four new species of the plant bug subfamily Phylinae are described from Taiwan, namely Atractotomoidea badiorubra sp. n. and A. elongata sp. n. (tribe Nasocorini); Compsidolon lini sp. n. (Phylini); and Decomioides luteoparva sp. n. (Decomiini). An annotated checklist, including updated distributional records for all Taiwanese phyline taxa, is also provided. Two species of the genus Moissonia Reuter, M. larutensis Yasunaga and M. takaii Yasunaga, are reported from Taiwan for the first time. A new combination, Atractotomoidea lanceus (Li & Liu, 2008) comb. n., is herein proposed.

Twenty-three species in six genera including a new genus are proposed herein: Apolygus China (14 spp.), Charagochilus Fieber (2 spp.) Exolygocoris gen. n. (1 sp.), Mermitelocerus Reuter (1 sp.), Neolygus Knight (3 spp.), Polymerus Hahn (1 sp.) and Proboscidocoris Reuter (1 sp.), are described as new to science. Apolygopsis miniacea (Yasunaga & Yasunaga) comb. n. and Argenis takahashii (Yasunaga) comb. n. are transferred from Apolygus and Tinginotum, respectively. Mermitelocerus prasinus Reuter stat. n. and Orientomiris nigripes Yasunaga stat. n., originally described as a subspecies of M. annulipes and O. yaeyamanus, respectively, are upgraded to the species level, based on reevaluation of morphological characters. Apolygus syringae (Kerzhner), which has been regarded as a junior synonym of A. hilaris (Horváth), is reinstated as valid and rediagnosed. A checklist and a key are provided for all known Japanese genera.
The first review of the Tomoderinae Bonadona, 1961 (Anthicidae Latreille, 1819) from the Philippine Islands is presented. Two genera, Macrotomoderus Pic, 1901 and Tomoderus LaFerté-Sénectère, 1849, are confirmed for the archipelago. Descriptions of the following 13 new species are provided: Macrotomoderus damaskai, M . davawenyo, M . hamiguitan, M . kirscheyi, M . maranao, M . subanen, M . unicus, Tomoderus agta, T . medinai, T . mindanaor, T . minor, T . penicillus, T . shavrini spp. nov. A new synonymy is proposed for Tomoderus longithorax Krekich-Strassoldo, 1929 = T. elegantithorax Telnov, 2001 (both from Luzon). Additional records and type material images are provided for the poorly known species. An annotated checklist of the Philippine Tomoderinae is provided. Biogeographical peculiarities are briefly discussed. The known Philippine fauna of Tomoderinae is comprised of 22 species: eight Macrotomoderus and 14 Tomoderus .
Taxonomy is a science whose roots go back to the dawn of human curiosity. Its evergrowing body of knowledge, laid down in the biological classification, provides the framework within which every biologist operates. Taxonomists have always used the oldest scientific tools for their research — their natural capabilities of observation, gestalt perception, categorization, and classification — as well as the most advanced technologies of the day. Today, taxonomy is firmly anchored in evolutionary theory, spearheading on topics such as the species problem and biodiversity and its development.
This paper describes Leptelmis kodadai sp. n., the first species of Leptelmis discovered from the Philippines in the last 50 years. Previously, Leptelmis Sharp, 1888 was represented in the Philippines with only one species, namely L. tawitawiensis Delève, 1973 documented from Tawi-Tawi, the southwestern tip of the country. Due to habitus and genital differences with L. tawitawiensis, L. kodadai sp. n. collected from Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, and Bukidnon from the island of Mindanao was deemed new to science. Additionally, using the generated COI-3ʹ gene sequences, the intraspecific distance of the L. kodadai sp. n. specimens was determined to be 0.72%. This paper generates the first barcodes of Philippine Leptelmis and provides an updated checklist for Southeast Asian species.

Corrections and additions to the Nearctic Haliplidae are presented. Haliplus variomaculatus Brigham & Sanderson, 1973 is synonymized with Haliplus deceptus Matheson, 1912. Some distributional data are added.
Five new species described in the genus Diplectrona from Southeast Asia were found to represent synonyms of D. fasciata and D. pseudofasciata. The male genitalia of D. fasciata are illustrated for the first time.
Abstract The genus Choeras Mason, 1981 is distributed with six species in Iran (western Asia), most of them recorded in the north. A total of 42 Choeras specimens from this country were re-examined, and some notes along with color photographs are provided. Additionally, the geographical distribution data of the known Iranian Choeras species are discussed and a distribution map is generated. Finally, a correction for the province name of the type locality is proposed for the species Choeras qazviniensis Fernandez-Triana & Talebi, 2019.
A new mayfly species, Potamanthellus panayensis sp. n. (Neoephemeridae) is described from Panay Island, Philippines, based on nymphs. Supplementary nymphal description of P. caenoides (Ulmer, 1939) and a provisional description of another Potamanthellus species from Mindanao Island, Philippines are provided. The potential underestimated diversity of Potamanthellus in Southeast Asia is discussed in line with the species delimitation in this study based on COI sequences.
Three new species of the genus Ancyrony x Erichson, 1847 from Greater Mindanao are described: A. kalasan sp. n., A. manobo sp. n., and A. zamboangaensis sp. n. Illustrations of habitus and line drawings of genitalia are presented. Molecular species delimitation using COI mtDNA barcodes supports the morphological species concept.
Donaciolagria Pic, 1914 is a small genus of colourful Lagriinae Latreille, 1825 (Tenebrionidae Latreille, 1802) restricted to the southern Himalayas and montane systems of China, northern Indochina, as well as present in Taiwan. In the present paper the following five new species are described and illustrated, in addition to the 13 previously known valid taxa: Donaciolagria cupreoaurata sp. n. (China: Yunnan), D. evanescens sp. n. (China: Yunnan), D. mimica sp. n. (China: Hubei, Shaanxi, Sichuan), D. regia sp. n. (India: Arunachal Pradesh), and D. weigeli sp. n. (China: Yunnan). One new synonymy is proposed: Donaciolagria longipennis Pic, 1914 = D. longipennis var. jeanvoinei Pic, 1927 syn. n. A lectotype is designated for Donaciolagria longipennis var. jeanvoinei Pic, 1927. Donaciolagria basipes Pic, 1927 and D. pici Borchmann, 1936 are redescribed. A key to and a checklist of Donaciolagria species are presented, supplemented with new records and habitus images of several known species.
