We present a genome assembly from an individual male Limonius poneli (click beetle; Arthropoda; Insecta; Coleoptera; Elateridae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 1 351.61 megabases and 1 247.44 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (99.07%) is scaffolded into 10 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the X sex chromosome, while 98.81% of the haplotype 2 assembly is scaffolded into 9 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.69 kilobases. This assembly was generated as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project, which produces reference genomes for eukaryotic species found in Britain and Ireland.
The first representative of the long-jointed beetle genus Sora Walker, 1859 (Lagriinae: Lagriini Latreille, 1825) from Eocene is described and illustrated. The taxon represents the first Tenebrionidae Latreille, 1802 known from Danish amber.
Pelecotoides kadazandusun sp. nov., a new ripiphorid species from Malaysian Borneo, is described and illustrated. This represents the second species of Pelecotoides Laporte, 1833 documented from Borneo. We briefly discuss the Ripiphoridae Laporte, 1840 fauna of Borneo and present new records of Micropelecotoides Pic, 1910 from the island. A new combination is made for Pelecotomoides nigrolateralis var. fulvonotata Pic, 1924-Pelecotoides nigrolateralis ssp. fulvonotatus comb. nov.

In this study, a remarkable new species of the genus Byrsax Pascoe, 1860 (Tenebrionidae: Tenebrioninae: Bolitophagini), Byrsax titanus sp. nov. from the rainforests of Batanta Island, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, is described and illustrated. Additionally, a checklist and a key of Byrsax species of the Papuan Region is provided.
Serropalpus (Sundaserropalpus subgen. nov.) nigrovittatus sp. nov., the first new representative of Melandryidae Leach, 1815 from Singapore in more than a century, is described and illustrated. Morphological features and taxonomy of the genera of Serropalpini Latreille, 1829 are discussed.
Eulagius acernus Motschulsky, 1845 (Coleoptera, Mycetophagidae) is a sapromycetophagous species that was previously only known to be present in the Caucasus and north-eastern Turkey. It has now been discovered for the first time in France in several departments in the north-west of the country. Its presence in some isolated localities, as well as its records in woods and forests from traps or from under bark suggests that this species is established in France. This work presents images of E. acernus individuals from France and Georgia, as well as images of holotypes and syntypes of other Eulagius species from the same species group, when original descriptions do not include any photos.

Abstract Human‐driven changes in European forests have reduced habitat quality and connectivity, threatening specialist species. We assessed 32 saproxylic beetle species in Latvia based on 2668 observations to evaluate how conservation of EU forest habitats of importance supports species persistence. Species assigned to higher International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) threat categories (Vulnerable, Endangered) were significantly more likely to occur within these habitats, were found closer to forest patches and were significantly concentrated in areas with high habitat density and good to excellent habitat quality. Scenario‐based projections of forest management over 25 years indicated contrasting outcomes: under business‐as‐usual, continued habitat loss led to increased extinction risk for all species; moderate protection within Natura 2000 sites produced limited benefits; achieving the favourable reference area (FRA) substantially increased habitat availability and improved projected conservation status. Our results demonstrate that threatened saproxylic beetles are reliable indicators of habitat quality and are strongly dependent on high‐quality, continuous forest habitats. Achieving FRA targets is essential for securing the long‐term persistence of these species, particularly for those currently classified as Endangered or Vulnerable. These findings underscore the importance of expanding protected areas beyond Natura 2000 and implementing passive forest management to meet EU biodiversity restoration and conservation objectives.

The Eocene taxa of fire-coloured or cardinal beetles, Pyrochroidae Latreille, 1806 are discussed with regard to the likely dark colouration of adults. Serratopogonocerus succinius gen. et sp. nov. from Eocene Baltic amber is described and illustrated. Its taxonomic position is discussed and supplementary description and images are provided for another Eocene Baltic amber species currently attributed to Pyrochroidae, Palaeopyrochroa crowsoni M. Abdullah, 1965. A brief overview of extinct Pyrochroidae reported from Eocene ambers of Europe is provided and a short discussion on their colour pattern is provided.
The genus Boletoxenus Motschulsky, 1858 (Tenebrionidae: Tenebrioninae: Bolitophagini), previously considered restricted to the Oriental and eastern Palaearctic realms, is recorded from the Papuan Region for the first time. A new remarkable species with distinct elytral tuberculation and unusual genital morphology, Boletoxenus papuanus sp. Nov. from the Central Region of New Guinea is described and illustrated.
