Objective: This study reconceptualizes organizational behaviour through experiential learning, developing a multilevel theoretical framework integrating individual, team, and organizational dynamics. Theoretical Framework: Drawing on Experiential Learning Theory, particularly Kolb’s cyclical model, and incorporating multilevel organizational theory, social constructivism, and dynamic capability perspectives, the framework advances a process-oriented understanding of how experience shapes organizational action. Method: The study employs a conceptual, theory-building design based on an integrative and critical interdisciplinary literature review. Core constructs are systematically synthesized, and multilevel propositions are developed to explain cross-level interactions. Results and Discussion: The proposed framework positions experiential learning as a generative mechanism linking individual reflection, collective sensemaking, and organizational adaptation. It identifies feedback loops, emergent behavioural patterns, and contextual moderators such as leadership and culture, addressing micro–macro fragmentation in the literature. Research Implications: The model bridges learning theory and organizational behaviour, offering guidance for adaptive systems and leadership development. Originality/Value: The study introduces a novel multilevel synthesis, articulating dynamic cross-level mechanisms that extend contemporary organizational theory.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of customer satisfaction on customer loyalty, with the aim of establishing the relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty among passengers of rail transport services in Kenya. Theoretical Structure: This study was based on the theory of disconfirmation of expectation. Anchorage's theory is supported by theories of cognitive dissonance, cue utilization, and social exchange. Method: The research adopted a descriptive, cross-sectional and convergent mixed methods design. Data collection was done through a semi-structured questionnaire. A sample of 357 respondents was targeted by the 4 rail passenger service providers. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the data. Results and Discussion: The results indicated that customer satisfaction had a direct influence on the loyalty of rail service passengers in Kenya. The results showed a significant and positive relationship between customer satisfaction and loyalty. The limitation of the study was that the design applied did not increase the generalizability of the results. Research implications: The results of the study are based on customer satisfaction and the theory of knowledge about customer loyalty, as well as the need for managers to develop marketing strategies to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty. Originality/Value: The results of the study will help marketers formulate market-driven services to exceed customer expectations while increasing customer satisfaction and loyalty. This is important for the growth of the rail industry, given the scant academic study focused on the provision of passenger rail services.
Objective: This study analyzes the complementarity between behavioral and cultural determinants of the auditor-auditee relationship and their influence on internal audit effectiveness, in the context of auditing social programs, illustrated through Morocco’s National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) programs. Theoretical Framework: Literature on internal audit effectiveness identifies the auditor-auditee relationship as a central determinant of audit performance. Existing studies mainly approach this relationship through professional and behavioral dimensions, focusing on auditors’ skills, attitudes, and compliance with procedures. Limited attention has been given to cultural values shaping interactions, particularly in social and public-sector contexts. This study integrates behavioral determinants and cultural values to provide a more comprehensive understanding. Method: The study adopts a qualitative case study approach based on semi-structured interviews with nine stakeholders involved in the evaluation and governance of “INDH” programs. Data were analyzed using NVivo software. Results and Discussion: Findings reveal behavioral determinants affecting the auditor–auditee relationship, including attitudes toward auditing, communication, cooperation, access to information, and responses to recommendations. Cultural values such as the primacy of relationships over tasks, warm interpersonal relations, and trust also structure this relationship. The results show that the auditor-auditee relationship is both professional and relational and cannot be understood solely through behavior. Research Implications: This research extends understanding of internal audit effectiveness by showing that auditor-auditee interactions in social program audits are shaped by both professional behavior and cultural values. Trust, respect, and interpersonal warmth are essential for collaboration. The study emphasizes that improving audit effectiveness requires combining technical skills with relational practices aligned with the cultural context. Originality/Value: This study contributes by highlighting the combined influence of behavioral and cultural determinants on the auditor-auditee relationship in social program audits.

Objectives: The objective of this study was to investigate the influence of strategic leadership’s dispositional features on the sustainable organisational performance of Government owned State Corporations in Kenya, with the aim of establishing the impact of strategic leadership effects on the organisational effectiveness of public entities in a developing country. Theoretical Framework: The conceptualisation of this study was undergirded by two theories in strategic management. The upper echelons theory (Hambrick & Mason, 1984) anchored the study with auxiliary support from the organisation theory (Donaldson, 1985). Method: This study was based on an analytical cross sectional cenusus survey targeting 250 Government owned State Corporations (SCs) in Kenya. Primary data was collected using a self-administered structured questionnaire based on a 5 point Likert scale. The respondents comprised top management team (TMT) members within the SCs. Results and Discussion: The results show that strategic leadership’s dispositional features positively and significantly influence sustainable organisational performance. Intresetingly, this significant effect also applied to the psychograhic indicators used to operationalise the strategic leadership construct in the study. The findings validate the predictions of the theories that informed its conceptualisation. A limitation of the study is that it was operationalised in the context of public sector organisations in a developing country which has contextual idiosyncracies. This may limit the extent to which the study findings can be gerneralised in other different contexts. Research Implications: The findings make important contributions to theory by addressing some of the black box problems associated with the upper echelons theory. Additionally, the study findings provide useful information that can guide policy in public sector organizations. Finally, the results have important implications on management practice as it provides useful insights on how to strengthen the strategic leadership framework in public sector organisations and how these entities can ensure long term sustainability by adopting ESG sustainability performance measures. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the ongoing debate between micro and macro research foundations in strategic management research. Additionally, the research deepens the field of leadership by highlighting the importance of strategic leadership multi-level dispositional features in influencing sustainable organisational performance which is a shift from the frequently researched TMT demographic characteristics.
Objective: The objective of this study is to investigate which is the best strategy for the international development of the automobile producers and prove it through a model developed by the author on the basis of the existing concepts. Theoretical Framework: A theoretical review on the leading concepts for strategic management is carried out. The most relevant theoretical framework - the matrix for local responsiveness versus global integration is applied on the automotive industry so that the industry specific forces are considered and classified according the direction of their influence. Method: The basic scientific methods of deduction and induction are employed in application of the theoretical framework on the studied industry. Analysis of statistical data is carried out for the determination of the industry specific features and the recent trends in the automotive market development. The statistical material consists of predominantly from secondary data, collected from official references of international and national agencies and organizations. The graphic model is developed with the help of instruments from the analytical geometry. Results and Discussion: The position of the crossing points of opposing driving forces displayed on the matrix with the four major strategies for international development shows the best strategy to be followed by the automobile producers – the transnational one. Research Implications: The transnational strategy is associated with greatest complexity and challenges but also with most opportunities for the automobile producer especially in time of dynamic industry restructuring. Originality/Value: This study contributes to the management theory and practice by the universal application of the suggested model on other industries.
Objective: This paper discussed how an integrated ABC-XYZ inventory management strategy is used to enhance corporate profitability in the food and beverage sector and improve financial performance. Methodology: The study embraced a quantitative approach through a structured questionnaire that was administered to the professionals in the food and beverage industry. The study sample encompassed (110) respondents, and the data analysis was based on SPSS, employing descriptive statistics, correlation, regression, and mediation. Results and discussion: It was found that effective inventory management has a statistically significant positive impact on corporate profitability. To be more specific, the findings revealed that inventory efficiency attained by means of the ABC-XYZ classification helps to have better cost control, increase cash flow, and sales revenue. In addition, operational costs, sales revenue, and cash flow have a significant mediating impact on the relationship between inventory efficiency and profitability. The paper has indicated that focusing on high-value and demand-sensitive products with the help of proper forecasting and integrated information systems can improve decision-making and finance. Research Implications: The study has a theoretical contribution, as it adds to the existing body of research on inventory management in a sector-specific period; and a practical contribution, as it presents practical advice that can be adopted by managers who want to streamline inventory operations.
Objectivo: This study set out to understand how market opportunities for Micro Small and Medium Entreprises in Western Kenya are shaped by two main factors: the age of the business owner (and how long the business has existed) and the type of business they run. The market segments preferred by different categories of micro and small enterprises. The goal was to examine how age and type of business influence market practice among micro and small enterprises. among counties such as Bungoma, Kakamega, Kisumu, Siaya, and Busia and how these factors would determine investment criteria. The aim was also to established criteria to train and finance the MSMEs in order to scale their growth and sustainability, with an internation to spare economic growth Theoretical Framework: The research was guided by the International Labour Organization’s Start and Improve Your Business (SIYB) model, which emphasizes training, structured planning, and market awareness as key tools for business growth. Together with basic market segmentation theory, the model helped explain how differences in age, experience, and business structure affect how MSMEs start improve their business. Conceptual Framework: The study assumes that access to markets is influenced by a combination of personal characteristics (such as age, gender, and education of the owner) and business characteristics (such as registration status, legal form, size, and years in operation). These were used as the main segmentation factors to determine how different groups position themselves in the market and what an investor would consider in determining where to invest, what to invest and the product to have in the market. Method: A mixed-methods approach was used. Data were collected from MSME owners who attended outreach session across the Western region. They provided details on their age, education level, gender, business type, registration status, years of operation, and income category. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and comparisons across age groups and business types. Qualitative responses were also reviewed to understand how entrepreneurs make market decisions. Results & Discussions: Entrepreneurs aged 26–34 emerged as the most active group in business ownership, training participation, and registration—mostly running micro-scale sole proprietorships. Older entrepreneurs tended to manage fewer but more stable businesses. Most enterprises were still young (1–5 years old), suggesting a highly entrepreneurial environment but also one still in early stages of growth. A significant number of businesses remained unregistered, limiting access to formal opportunities. Education and location also played a role—counties like Siaya, with higher education levels, showed stronger registration and growth patterns than counties. Research Implication: The findings suggest that MSME support should be tailored rather than generalized. Younger entrepreneurs may need mentorship, incubation, and startup capital, while older businesses may require scaling finance and marketing support. Sole proprietors may benefit from basic training in bookkeeping and branding, while partnerships and limited companies may need guidance in compliance and team management. Segmenting support based on age and business type would make interventions more effective. Originality: Unlike most previous studies that focused on either age or business structure alone, this study combines both to show how they jointly influence market access. By focusing specifically on Western Kenya, it also gives regional-level insights that can inform county-based policies and development programs.

A positive association was observed between the level of participation in extracurricular activities and knowledge scores (P < 0.0001). A potential limitation was the online application of the questionnaire, which could allow consultation of other sources, although participants were advised to avoid it. Originality/Value: In Brazil, there are few studies that assess the knowledge of health science graduates about scientific research. Given the relevance of research to evidence-based practice, this study contributes by describing the level of knowledge of these students and by analyzing whether their extracurricular experiences are related to the development of this competence.

The study concludes that competitive intelligence is not yet prevalent in Mexico. Research Implications: The study offers a clear roadmap for Mexican businesses, especially medium and large enterprises in their introductory phase. Mangers and practitioners can leverage the identified success factors to design, implement, and evaluate their own competitive intelligence systems. Originality/Value: This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the literature from 2000 to 2024 about CI practices in Mexico, serving as an update to the research conducted by Ojinaga (2018).
Objectives: This article discusses decision-making systems from the perspective of the metabolic cost of the human brain and presents the Metabolic Cost Diagram as an integrative model to explain why deliberate thinking is rare, costly, and selective in neurobusiness, management, and executive education contexts. Theoretical Framework: The study articulates estimates of information flow and conscious capacity proposed by Norretranders, Csikszentmihalyi, and Miller with Herculano-Houzel’s data on the distribution of neurons between cortical and subcortical structures. It also integrates Kahneman’s dual-system model, Freud’s notion of the unconscious, MacLean’s historical triune brain metaphor, Damasio’s somatic marker hypothesis, Stanovich’s reflective mind, consumption decision evidence in Lindstrom, and contemporary models of cognitive effort, opportunity cost, and expected value of control in authors such as Westbrook, Braver, Kurzban, Shenhav, Inzlicht, and Otto. Method: This is an exploratory and integrative literature review. Books and theoretical and empirical articles in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, behavioral economics, and applied fields were selected. The sources were organized into thematic axes on informational capacity, decision systems, emotion, memory, and cognitive effort. The analysis compared convergences and tensions among the authors, resulting in the formulation of the Metabolic Cost Diagram as a conceptual and heuristic synthesis. Results and Discussion: The diagram organizes processing into four layers. A massive sensory input that exceeds the capacity of consciousness by millions of bits per second. An automatic, unconscious filtering guided by System 1, by emotions, habits, and “importance buttons” that prioritize stimuli relevant to survival and social status. A narrow conscious window, limited by a small number of chunks and by a bandwidth of a few dozen bits per second, in which System 2 operates, mediated by inner speech and executive control. Consolidation into different memory systems that feed future routines and adjust subjective sensitivity to cognitive effort. Based on effort and control-cost models, the article interprets the use of System 2 as an investment decision in which the brain compares subjective cost, opportunity cost, and the expected value of control, which helps explain decision fatigue, aversion to complex tasks, and resistance to innovation. Research Implications: The Metabolic Cost Diagram offers a neuroscientific and neuroeconomic basis for designing teaching practices, strategic communication, management, and neurobusiness interventions that treat attention and cognitive effort as scarce resources. The model guides decisions on informational load, meeting structure, message design, creation of flow states, and recognition policies that increase the perceived value of control in critical decisions. Originality/Value: The main contribution lies in articulating, within a single graphical and conceptual model, dispersed contributions on consciousness, emotion, decision systems, memory, and cognitive effort, bringing together classical literature and recent control-cost models. The Metabolic Cost Diagram functions both as a theoretical lens for future research and as a practical tool for leaders, educators, and professionals who need to make high-impact decisions in environments of high informational complexity.
