
Using inducers to induce cells to produce inflammatory response is a common in vitro experimental method to study inflammation.However,there are relatively few inflammatory models developed for the cosmetic industry,and there are also great differences in the control of model induction,the selection of inflammatory indicators,and the concentration of inducers.Therefore,in this paper,by systematically studying the effects of Lipopolysaccharide(LPS)on the cell viability,the levels of IL-1α,IL-8 and ROS of human primary keratinocytes,a skin inflammation model based human primary keratinocyte was developed.The results showed that 0.01~100 µg/mL LPS had no significant effect on the cell viability of human primary keratinocytes,while 100 µg/mL LPS could simultaneously induce human primary keratinocytes to produce large amounts of IL-1α and IL-8,and 0.01 µg/mL LPS could induce plentiful ROS.Therefore,a skin inflammation model for differential induction of different inflammatory indicators was established,and the sample OSM2021041301 was tested with this model,it was found that sample OSM2021041301 could significantly inhibit LPS-induced elevated IL-1α and IL-8 levels,the inhibitory effect on LPS-induced elevated ROS level was weak.The results indicated that OSM2021041301 has certain anti-inflammatory effect on inflammation caused by the increase of IL-1α,IL-8 and ROS induced by LPS and its analogues.
On April 10, 2023, the Shanghai Municipal Medical Products Administration issued a notice on the public consultation of the "Shanghai Pudong New Area General Cosmetics On-site Personalized Service Review Rules (for trial implementation)" (draft for comment), marking the public call for comments from April 3 to May 2, 2023. This is another effective regulatory measure following the Shanghai Pudong New Area in June 2022 and the National Medical Products Administration in November to further explore a viable mode for personalized cosmetic services.
May 23rd, 2023, Center for Medical Device Evaluation, National Medical Products Administration introduced Guidelines for the Registration and Review of Recombinant Collagen Wound Dressings (hereinafter referred to as Wound Dressings Guidelines) and Guidelines for Raw Material Evaluation of Recombinant Humanized Collagen (hereinafter referred to as Raw Material Guidelines), which could better standardize the management of the raw material of recombinant collagen and wound dressings. It is worth mentioning that Raw Material Guidelines mainly offers the evaluation methods concerning the raw material of recombinant humanized collagen used by medical devices. Currently, in the medical beauty and cosmetics industry, many products adopt recombinant humanized collagen. These two guiding principles exert an effect on standardizing medical beauty device products, and also have a certain guiding significance for cosmetics added with recombinant humanized collagen.
In order to search an appropriate evaluation method for the soothing effect of cosmetics,the LPS-induced macrophage model,SDS-stimulated zebrafish embryos model and the clinical assessment were used.The results showed that the concentration of NO and IL-6 was significantly reduced in LPS-induced RAW264.7 cells when applied to two essences.The inhibition rate of NO-release was 85.87% and 84.57%,while IL-6 was 44.18% and 38.76%,respectively.Furthermore,the spontaneous rotating of zebrafish embryos was significantly decreased to 51.85% and 76.54% in SDS-stimulated zebrafish embryos model.In the 28 days of clinical assessment,the concentration of hydration was significantly increased to 55.56% and 39.61%,while the erythrodesis was significantly decreased to 4.75% and 6.68%.This indicates that the three evaluation methods of soothing efficacy in this research were effective,and can be used in the evaluation of cosmetics.
The effect of triethyl citrate(TEC)on the stability of cream preparations containing urea or hydroxyethyl urea along with their moisturizing effect on skin was investigated.The results showed that creams incorporating urea or hydroxyethyl urea led to increase in pH value after a long-term and high-temperature storage.pH change in the latter one was relatively smaller.With the addition of TEC,the elevated pH of the formula system was suppressed.In the situation of stable formula,the higher the TEC added,the more significant inhibition effect on the pH change was observed.In the moisture retention test in vivo,compared to 27.19% moisture rate in negative control,cream preparations containing 5% urea or 5% hydroxyethyl urea had remarkable moisturizing effect,which were all higher than 52%.The latter one was relatively more prominent.There is no significant effect on moisturizing effect for product with TEC additive.

This review summarizes the main chemical composition of Aloe vera flowers and introduces their antioxidant,anti-aging,skin whitening,skin moisturizing,anti-skin irritation,and anti-skin allergy effects.Suggestions for the application of Aloe v.flowers in cosmetics are provided.
A device is designed to assess the ammonia removal effect of passive air purification products which derived the QB/T 2761-2006 Methods for determination of purificatory effect of indoor environment decontamination product.The device is composed of three parts:ammonia generator,ammonia removal device and ammonia collection device,which is made up of common laboratory equipment.The reagents used are common acid and alkali reagents in the laboratory.During the experiment,5.0mL of 25% concentrated ammonia water is added to the ammonia generator as the ammonia source,and filter paper is used as the sample carrier.Take 3.0g sample and add it to the filter paper,after the ammonia is absorbed by the filter paper with the sample,the residual ammonia is collected and measured by acid-base titration.The ammonia removal efficacy of the sample is calculated by the ammonia absorption amount of the blank sample and the sample to be tested.This method has the characteristics of simple equipment,small area,toxic or harmful substance free,and fabulous accuracy.Four different samples were tested,and the results matched the standard method.
Numerous literature has reported that polysaccharides-based cosmetics present multifunctional effects in skin moisturizing for protecting the skin barrier.The aim of this study is to investigate the physicochemical properties,purities,composition and cellular functions of polysaccharides extracted from the bulb of Narcissus tazetta var.chinensis(NBP)and to evaluate its efficacy evaluation on skin moisture,elasticity,allergies and inflammation.The polysaccharides were obtained from the Narcissus tazetta bulb by using cold water extraction and ethanol precipitation methods.The residual impurities,polysaccharides molecular weight and composition were analyzed by UV spectrophotometry,gel chromatography,high performance liquid chromatography and infrared spectroscopy;skin hydration and elasticity assay were analyzed following efficacy evalution on human body;laboratory test was used to evaluate histamine and nitric oxide(NO)activity. The results indicate that a yield of 6%(w/w)of NBP,show that the NBP does not contain starch,protein,colchicine,lycorine,etc.,The average molecular weight of NBP is 559 kDa,and is composed of mannose and glucose,n(mannose):n(glucose)= 4:1.0.5%NBP can increase skin hydration and elasticity assay on human body.The NBP is non-cytotoxic,in the basophils RBL-2H3 cell model tests,NBP concentrations at 100~250 μg/mL can effectively inhibit the release of histamine,and the NBP concentrations 600~1000 μg/mL can significantly inhibit LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 cells which are showed dose-responsive effects.These findings demonstrate that the NBP prepared in the study could offer potent skin protection,preserving hydration and elasticity,while also providing anti-allergy and anti-inflammatory properties.It can,therefore,be considered an excellent candidate for polysaccharide-based cosmetics.
The harm of ultraviolet radiation to human skin and the mechanism of traditional sunscreen agents and natural sunscreen agents were reviewed.Sunscreen agents were usually encapsulated with delivery systems due to the instability and skin permeability.The research progress of several common sunscreen delivery systems was introduced,the future research direction of sunscreen agents was also prospected.
Since December 2022,with the announcement of the 20 measures and the 10 new measures to guide national pandemic prevention and control,there has been a nationwide loosening policy on Covid control,which means that from 2023,the consumption era after three years of Covid prevention and control will inevitably enter the post-pandemic consumption era.In the post-pandemic era,therefore,it is wondered what characteristics and trends will the consumption of the cosmetic industry show,and this article will express personal predictions and analysis on these two issues.
The year 2022 is a rough patch for domestic beauty makeups. When major overseas brands have occupied the first echelon of the area list on each major platform,new domestic brands have no confidence to take COVID-19 pandemic as a fig leaf for the stagnant sales volume.Some professional managers find pessimistically that Generation Z groups,which new brands take as main clients,should have turned to grand brands without hesitation.A severe fact has been placed before the Chinese beauty makeup market-the marketing method that domestic cosmetics rely on for starting up is no longer a secret key for competition,and it seems very difficult for the weak product power to resist the overwhelming grand brands.
To evaluate the safety of detergents,the toxicological test results of 580 collected detergents were analyzed.The results showed that,in the acute oral toxicity test,94.4%and 5.6%of the samples were classified as non-toxic and toxic respectively.In skin irritation test,95.1%of the samples were mild irritation or below,and 4.9%were moderate irritation or above.In the vaginal mucosa irritation test,79.0%of the samples were very mild irritation or below,while 21.0%were mild irritation or above.In the acute inhalation toxicity test,the proportion of the samples classified as actually non-toxic and toxic were 87.9%and 12.1%respectively.In the eye irritation test,95.7%of the samples belonged to mild irritation or below,and 4.3%of the samples belonged to moderate irritation or above.The products at risk in category A,B and C products account for 6.3%,7.7%and 14.2%respectively.Of the 580 tested samples,90.9%were relatively safe,while 9.1%were at risk.These data showed that most of the tested samples meet the safety requirements for use.
This article described the current regulatory requirements of cosmetics in the United States,listed the major changes and adjustments of the Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022,such as the mandatory system of adverse event reporting and the registration of voluntary changes to mandatory,and analyzed the new regulatory requirements in depth,and put forward some suggestions for enterprises to cope with the strategy,so as to help enterprises adapt to the new policy more smoothly when exporting cosmetics.
By compounding the cranberry extract,lavender flower extract,Kakadu plum extract,edelweiss flower/leaf extract and aloe vera extract into a composite plant extract(BIRC-Rosée WT100),the whitening effects of this composite plant extract in antioxidation,anti-inflammation,skin barrier maintenance,and inhibition of melanin production and transport were evaluated.By comparing the inhibitory effects on tyrosinase activity between the composite plant extract and α-arbutin,and then analyzing the decline of apparent chromaticity,apparent brightness and melanin content through 3D melanin skin model platform,the comprehensive whitening effect was evaluated and compared with that of kojic acid.The results showed that,the composite plant extract(BIRC-Rosée WT100)had a tyrosinase inhibition rate of 98.99%at the original concentration,which was much higher than that of α-arbutin.In 3D melanin skin model,the apparent chromaticity and brightness could be effectively improved,and moreover,the total amount of melanin in the skin could be reduced,showing remarkable whitening effect.
Ultraviolet(UV),ozone(O3),and particulate matter(PM)in air pollutants in the external environment can induce skin aging through oxidative mechanisms such as free radicals,lipid peroxidation,and protein oxidation.Antioxidant cosmetics can be used to defend against oxidative damage caused by the external environment to the skin.In China,the claimed cosmetics need to be managed according to new efficacy cosmetics,but there are currently few reports on the evaluation methods for such new efficacy cosmetics.The efficacy evaluation methods of cosmetics with antioxidant mechanisms under UV,O3,and PM models were reviewed,and the skin damage caused by UV,O3,and PM were introduced.Suggestions for the application of each model in the efficacy evaluation of antioxidant cosmetics and raw materials were given to provide ideas for new efficacy claims and technical references for establishing a new efficacy evaluation system.
The low level red light irradiation dose that produced positive response on different cell indexes was selected through experiments.In fibroblast detection model,the low level red light irradiation dose that had positive response to the four indicators of mitochondrial membrane potential,ATP release,cell migration and collagen synthesis was screened.The experimental results showed that low level red light with a irradiation dose of 2 J/cm2 had a positive response to the above four indexes in fibroblast.The test model on fibroblast was later transferred to dermal papilla cells for further experimental verification.The results showed that low level red light with a irradiation dose of 2 J/cm2 also had a positive response to the four indicators of dermal papilla cells,namely,mitochondrial membrane potential,ATP release,cell proliferation rate and collagen synthesis.It is proved that the low level red light with a irradiation dose of 2 J/cm2 could improve the mitochondrial function,cell migration and collagen synthesis of fibroblast and dermal papilla cell,thus providing energy for cell activities,improving cell repair ability and cell anti-aging ability.

In vitro skin sensitization testing methods based on the adverse outcome pathway(AOP)were used to evaluate the skin sensitization potencies of 5 commonly used preservatives.According to the"2 out of 3"principle of the integrated approaches to testing and assessment(IATA)the direct peptide reactivity assay(DPRA)and the human cell line activation test(h-CLAT)were used to detect the preservatives commonly used in cosmetics,including phenoxyethanol.methyl paraben,propyl paraben,imidazolidinyl urea and DMDM hydantoin.The DPRA and the h-CLA were carried out according to the OEC442C and 442E guidelines,respectively.The results show that.phenoxyethanol and methyl paraben are both negative in DPRA and h-CLAT while imidazolidinyl urea and DMDM hydantoin are both positive in these two tests.Propyl paraben has negative result in DPRA but positive result in h-CLAT.Therefore,imidazolidiny urea and DMDM hydantoin are sensitizers,while phenoxyethanol and methylparaben are non-sensitizers.Taken animal and human data into consideration,it is predicted that propyl paraben should be a non-sensitizer.The combination of DPRA and h-CLAT can make up for the limitations of using a single method,and it is suitable for the preliminary screening of cosmetic raw materials according to skin sensitization.
To investigate the apparent age of Chinese cosmetic consumers and its influencing factors.The subjects'skin conditions in all dimensions were collected using professional instruments and clinical expert assessment,subjects'lifestyles,skin care and makeup habits were obtained through questionnaire.The apparent age of the subjects was obtained based on the visual perception of photos judged by observers and then averaged.The association between apparent age and skin characteristics,the association between the difference between apparent age and actual age and the subjects'lifestyle and its difference among cities were investigated.The results showed that apparent age had a high correlation with skin tone and severity of skin problems.The model of multiple regression analysis obtained a high resolution(R2=0.704).The use of skin care products may help to delay the apparent aging of the skin.The results of the study have some guiding significance for the development of anti-aging products and the evaluation of anti-aging efficacy and is informative for lifestyle choices to maintain youthfulness.
