Introduction: The use of digital media in young people has generated both opportunities for learning and social interaction and mental health risks, especially in relation to cyberbullying. Objective: To analyze the scientific literature and the relationship between the use of digital media, cyberbullying and mental health in young people, identifying the main psychosocial risks, as well as the protective factors associated with interactions in digital environments. Method: A narrative review of the scientific literature published in academic databases on digital media, cyberbullying and mental health in adolescents and young people was conducted. The studies were analyzed thematically to identify trends, conceptual approaches, and relevant findings on the impact of digital interactions on psychological well-being. Results: It was evidenced that the intensive use of digital environments can be associated with problems such as anxiety, depression and social isolation, particularly when experiences of online victimization occur. However, the literature also highlights the potential of digital technologies for learning, social participation and the construction of support networks when their use is accompanied by educational processes and family mediation. Conclusion: It is necessary to promote comprehensive preventive approaches that involve the family, educational institutions, and public policies to favor safe digital environments and protect the mental health of the young population.
Introduction: The practice of healthcare workers is not restricted to disciplinary functions, but also involves emotional aspects, among others, which is why their training must include these aspects. Objective: To recognize emotional management in teachers in their pedagogical practice in order to promote healthy educational environments. Methodology: Using a qualitative case study approach, a pedagogical and community action was designed to understand the experiences of five participating teachers through techniques such as semi-structured interviews, non-participant observation, and field journals. Results: It was observed that adequate emotional management improves teachers' well-being and positively impacts the quality of the pedagogical environment. In addition, it opens doors to future research.
Objective: This research article aims to analyze the levels of compliance with each of the habilitation standards established by the regulatory framework defined in Resolution 3100 of 2019, within the dental clinic of the Fundación Universitaria del Área Andina. Materials y methods: To fulfill this purpose, a quantitative approach with descriptive and institutional audit scope was designed. A verification instrument was applied to assess the seven habilitation standards: human talent, infrastructure, equipment, medications and supplies, priority processes, medical records, and interdependence. An initial visit was carried out in which 169 quality criteria were evaluated; only 20.7% met the legal requirements. As a result, an improvement plan was developed to minimize risks and ensure patient safety. Results: In a second audit, a positive balance was observed in terms of improvements and corrective actions. For example, the "equipment" standard reached 100% compliance, while “priority processes” improved from 15.1% to 80% compliance. Nevertheless, weaknesses remain in the administrative system, particularly in the management of medical records. Conclusion: In conclusion, internal audits and quality control mechanisms can strengthen areas of care, promote the ongoing training of human talent—not only in clinical practice but also in regulatory frameworks—with the ultimate goal of delivering high-quality healthcare services to users.
Introduction: There is interest in conducting studies using the Sense of Coherence Scale (SOC), whose validity is characterised by its robustness and high quality, supported by the evaluation of its measurement properties, the result of an exhaustive methodology. In addition to the documentary review, we sought to evaluate the quality of the scientific evidence of the SOC. Methodology: A narrative review was conducted on the measurement properties applied in the validation process of the Sense of Coherence Scale in its different versions, following the guidelines established by the COSMIN methodology for the evaluation of methodological quality and SANRA for the evaluation of quality. Results: In terms of psychometric properties, the following were assessed as sufficient in terms of overall quality: structural validity, internal consistency, cross-cultural validity, criterion validity, construct validity, and responsiveness; measurement error was the property that was assessed as indeterminate in most items. Quality of scientific evidence: as evidence, reliability was moderate, and measurement error was low. The rest of the properties were rated as high in quality. Although the methodological quality assessment of structural and criterion validity was "very good," not all results were sufficient. Conclusion: The Sense of Coherence Scale can be used as a valid and reliable tool in different populations.
Introduction: Congenital rectal atresia is a rare anorectal malformation characterized by a normal-appearing anus with an interruption of the rectal canal a few centimeters from the dentate line. Its clinical signs mimic other causes of neonatal intestinal obstruction, and diagnosis may be delayed if anal patency is not properly assessed. Case Presentation: A full-term male newborn presenting with abdominal distension, vomiting, and failure to pass meconium. The initial evaluation reported a “permeable anus,” leading to a misdiagnosis of necrotizing enterocolitis. At 3 days of life, a laparotomy was performed, revealing a colonic perforation. A second procedure confirmed the diagnosis of rectal atresia. Surgical management was performed in stages: colostomy, posterior sagittal anorectoplasty with end-to-end anastomosis, and colostomy closure at 11 months. The patient had a favorable clinical and functional outcome. Discussion: The normal appearance of the anus can delay diagnosis. The neonatal physical examination should include instrumental verification of anal patency. The staged surgical approach allowed for patient stabilization, definitive diagnosis, and successful reconstruction, consistent with reports in the literature. Conclusion: Rectal atresia should be suspected in neonates with signs of lower intestinal obstruction despite a normal-appearing anus. Early diagnosis and timely surgical management are essential for a favorable outcome.
