Photoexcited charges in 2D polymers are typically trapped in the plane where they are generated. In a recent Nature paper, Zhuzhang et al. use facet-selective nanofilms on poly(triazine imide) crystals to pull holes across layers, lifting the quantum efficiency for overall water splitting to 82% and solar-to-hydrogen efficiency past 1%.1
In a recent issue of Nature Nanotechnology, Liu, Zhang, Wang, and co-workers report an in situ yttrium doping strategy that forms lanthanum-yttrium-oxide (LYO) interphases at garnet solid electrolyte grain boundaries. The lithiophobic LYO interphases improve fracture toughness and mitigate electronic leakage, collectively enhancing dendrite resistance and supporting cathode integration.
