In this research, we analyze the associative practices developed by agricultural entrepreneurs in rural spaces undergoing transformation from the late 20th century to the present. We examine the main transformations of the agribusiness model, explore entrepreneurs' perceptions, and articulate them with the associative dynamics of a central institution in the sector. The empirical Analysis focuses on the Asociaci & oacute;n Argentina de Consorcios Regionales de Experimentaci & oacute;n Agricola (AACREA). We argue that the agribusiness model has entered a new phase, characterized by the expansion of digitalization. In this context, the entity deploys a set of strategies aimed at expanding its capital and preserving its position in the political field.
The predominant agricultural model in Argentina is going through a crisis marked by technical, economic, social, and environmental problems, which has driven the emergence of productive alternatives. This article analyzes the speeches of professionals from the public and private sectors related to extensive production from different regions within the Pampas agriculture and who have incorporated alternative approaches to respond to the limitations of the current paradigm. Through interviews, the actors' vision, motivations and trajectories are explored, identifying the common diagnosis of the effects of the predominant model and the various forms of construction of new perspectives on its problems and solutions. Based on these findings, profiles are created-as ideal types-representing the different visions in the sector, contributing to the understanding of the dynamics ofproductive change in the Pampas agriculture.
This work aims to observe and analyze the evolution of the quality of employment ofprivate agricultural wage earners in Uruguay between 2004 and 2019; a period characterized by profound transformations in the agricultural sector and institutional changes in the workplace. To measure the evolution of the quality of employment, the "Bad Jobs Index" (IME) is used, a synthetic index composed of four dimensions: social security, productivity, income and working hours. In summary, the results show a gradual improvement in the quality of employment, however, given the context, this improvement does not seem to be enough; There are still pending challenges to achieve a substantial and equitable improvement in working conditions in other productive sectors.
This article seeks to highlight the main territorial transformations that have occurred during the last 20 years in the peri-urban areas of the La Plata district. To this end, the methodological approach starts from investigating the growth trends present in the sector during the study period, recognizing four axes linked to the main communication channels that guide said expansion. Then, the predominant uses and the main socio-territorial conflicts present in each of these axes are identified in order to characterize different types of peripheries and delimit urban-rural interface sectors. Finally, using satellite photo surveys, we proceed to construct peri-urban typologies based on the predominant occupation logic during the study period. The results reveal the presence of a process of unregulated urban expansion that has resulted in the displacement of the La Plata horticultural belt and a broad socio-environmental impact.
The article aimed to identify some key elements for understanding the historical and current circumstances of agricultural production in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brazil, focusing on the territorial area of the municipality of Tupanciret & atilde; (RS), Pampa region. The analysis is based on a qualitative approach, using bibliographic and documentary research, drawing on other works and secondary data related to the topic, as well as observations and conversations with local subjects. It can be seen that the occupation of RS comes from various historical processes, with the Portuguese occupation being consolidated with the donations of "sesmarias", which contributed to the formation of the state's characteristics, such as large land properties, and a productive hegemony in extensive livestock farming, linked to the production of jerky, and later, refrigerated meat, marking the economy of Rio Grande do Sul, and of the municipality of Tupanciret & atilde; until the last decades of the 20th century, when agricultural activities were introduced and expanded, mainly soybean production.
