NOVELTY - The method involves transmitting a repeating ultrasound signal with a number of full waves into the bone. The number of full waves in the detected signal are determined. A definition is formed to define whether or not the determined number of full waves in the detected signal equals the number of full waves in the transmitted signal. The frequency of the transmitted repeating ultrasonic signal is modified according to the definition.
USE - For bone tissue.
ADVANTAGE - Achieves ultrasonic imaging of bone tissue, which would allow for precise and easily repeatable measurement of ultrasonic travel time and signal amplitude, imaging of internal structure of bone tissue, and optimization of probe orientation by directly utilizing imaging signals received from bone.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for a method for optimizing the orientation of an ultrasound probe on bone tissue, a bone tissue ultrasonic imaging system and a system for optimizing the orientation of a bone ultrasonic imaging probe.
DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The figure shows a schematic illustration of a preferred embodiment of an ultrasonic apparatus for imaging bone tissue.
