Density can be used in process control and quality evaluation in packaging printing industry.The issues about density were studied,which included the concept and the meaning of density,the origin of density,the relationship between density and vision,the types of density,the relationship between density and dot area,and the application and limitation of density in process control and quality evaluation.The purpose was to be people clear on density.

This paper is to study the influence of UV light in color measurement. Our research is based on an actual measuring experiment, in which IT8.7/3 (basic) was printed to paper with OBA and one without OBA and measured using two devices in two conditions: including UV light and excluding UV light. Experimental results show that UV light only affects colors on paper with OBA, and there will produce color difference between two measuring conditions on this kind paper, as well the effect of color shift due to UV is quite global, colors are shifting towards the blue direction. Experimental results also release that UV light affects colors near white and blue heavily and has slight influence to colors near yellow and black.

As we know,device calibration may be based on an existing adjustment curve,how to combine the new adjustment curve with the previous curve being a problem in the RIP setting since there is only one interface for tone curve setting.This study has found that a curve combining method,using the Jones diagram,in studying digital proofer adjustment is appropriate.In our research,the adjustment method,based on gray balance,is applied.The result verified that our curve combining method is reasonable and practicable.

Pleasingness is key to color reproduction. Pictorial color image match is key to digital color proofing. Different color proofing approaches are deployed in the color proofing market. The objective in this study is to evaluate if there are real differences among various color image adjustment methods. In doing so, an offset printed color reproduction serves as the reference. Different image adjustment techniques, including device calibration and color management, were implemented with the use of an inkjet proofer. Subjective evaluation of color image match between color proofs and the offset reference was conducted in a previous study. This paper describes the use of color chart, color measurement, and data analysis techniques in predicting pictorial color image match between proofs and the offset reference quantitatively.
