Through hybrid recombination, convergent backcross, and pedigree selection, a new flue-cured tobacco variety Zhongyan-100 was developed by crossing the female parent tobacco strain 9201which is resistant to multiple diseases and the male parent variety NC82 which has good quality but is susceptible to brown spot and sensitive to low temperature and short sunshine time. Results showed that the new variety had good adaptability, favored fertile soil, and was easy to cure. It was tolerant to weather spot and resistant to black shank and brown spot. The cured leaf was rich in oil and had shining bright and well-distributed light-orange color. The chemical composition was favorable and well-proportioned to meet the requirements of manufacturing cigarettes with Chinese characteristics. Compared with the main check variety, the new variety's leaf yield was increased by 9.44%, average price increased by 9.24%, ratio of the high and middle class leaf increased by 3.3%, and production value increased by 18.36%. In conclusion, Zhongyan-100 was a variety with favorable characters suitable for China's main tobacco growing areas.

中烟99系选用烤烟新品系88-4009与中烟86杂交,杂种F1经花培纯化定向选育而成,2000年12月通过全国烟草品种审定.该品种较耐肥水,田间生长势强,优质烟成熟特征明显,分层落黄好,易烘烤;烤后原烟金黄至桔黄,油分多,色泽鲜亮,化学成分协调,烟叶质量符合目前卷烟工业要求;兼抗黑胫病、赤星病和气候斑点病,耐普通花叶病,比对照品种产量提高5.64%,均价提高8.19%,中上等烟增加5.93个百分点,单位面积产值提高11.28%;是一个品质、抗性、产量、适应性等方面较能兼顾,适宜于黄淮、东北烟区种植的优良新品种.
