Remarried couples who experience infertility face unique stressors requiring effective dyadic coping. Research rarely examines how family functioning and posttraumatic growth jointly influence dyadic coping through an indirect pathway involving marital quality. This cross-sectional study of 318 couples, utilizing the actor-partner interdependence mediation model, examined these relationships. Results showed family functioning, through higher levels of marital quality, positively influenced both one's own dyadic coping (actor effect) and one's partner's dyadic coping (partner effect). Posttraumatic growth, through higher levels of marital quality, positively influenced one's own dyadic coping (actor effect). These findings underscore marital quality as a pivotal pathway for enhancing dyadic coping in remarried couples that are experiencing infertility, guiding targeted clinical interventions.
BackgroundWe aimed to explore the influence of solution-focused approach (SFA) on anxiety and depression, sleep quality, quality of life and clinical pregnancy rate among women aged 35 or over undergoing in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET).MethodsThe study was performed at the reproductive center in a public hospital in Lanzhou city. Totally, 112 women were enrolled in this study, and were divided into group SFA (n = 56) and group control (n = 56). The patients in the group SFA completed five sessions (30 minutes/turn), and patients in the group control received routine care.ResultsThe intervention group showed a significant decrease in anxiety (t = 11.906, P < 0.001) and depression scores (t = 14.991, P < 0.001), as well as PSQI scores (t = 7.055, P < 0.001), and increased FertiQoL scores (t = -2.828, P < 0.001). Comparing the two groups after the intervention, the intervention group demonstrated significantly lower SAS scores (t = -10.348, P < 0.001), SDS scores (t = -8.416, P < 0.001), and PSQI scores (t = -5.087, P < 0.001), while FertiQoL scores were higher than the control group (t = 2.389, P = 0.019). The intervention group reported a satisfaction rate of 96.2% to 100% with the SFA.ConclusionsSFA can help relieve anxiety and depression, improve sleep quality and reproductive life quality. Improvement in psychological distress might not contribute to increasing female fecundity. Patients in the group SFA were satisfied with the intervention.Trial registrationChinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR2300075444).
Fatigue seriously reduces the sensory sensitivity and operational efficiency ofmariners, which is a major safety threat to ship navigation. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between resilience and fatigue and to explore the chain-mediated role of coping style and psychological stress among mariners during ocean voyages. Using Connor-Davidson resilience scale, simplified coping style questionnaire, psychological stress self-evaluation test and multidimensional fatigue inventory, a questionnaire survey was conducted on 510 mariners from a Shandong fleet who finished a 32-day ocean voyage on September 12, 2023. SPSS 26.0 was employed to perform correlation analysis, while Amos 21.0 was applied to establish structural equation model and demonstrate the mediator effects. Daily working hours, negative coping style and psychological stress were positively correlated with fatigue, while resilience was negatively related to fatigue (all P < 0.01). The structural equation indicated that the 4 paths of “resilience → fatigue”, “resilience → psychological stress → fatigue”, “resilience → positive coping → psychological stress → fatigue” and “resilience → negative coping → psychological stress → fatigue” occupied 68.72
Background: The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between infertility-related stress and dyadic coping with quality of life (QoL) in couples with infertility issues, and verify gender differences and dyadic interactions in the associations between them. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 340 couples who were recruited from the First Affiliated Hospital of Lanzhou University between March 2022 and November 2022. The Fertility Problem Inventory, Dyadic Coping Inventory and FertiQoL were used to measure infertility-related stress, dyadic coping and QoL. The Actor-Partner Interdependence Model was used to analyze the effects of infertility-related stress and dyadic coping on the couple's own QoL (actor effect) as well as on their partner's QoL Results: Female patients perceived significantly lower levels of QoL and dyadic coping than those of husbands. There was no statistically significant difference in the infertility-related stress between wives and husbands. Husbands' infertility-related stress had actor and partner effects on their own and their wives' QoL, while wives' infertility-related stress only had an actor effect on their own QoL. Husbands' dyadic coping had both actor effect and partner effects on their own and their wives' QoL, meanwhile wives' dyadic coping had both actor effect and partner effects on their own and their husbands' QoL. Conclusion: Husbands' QoL was impacted by their own infertility-related stress, dyadic coping and their wives' dyadic coping. Whereas wives' QoL was influenced by infertility-related stress and dyadic coping from both their own and their spouses. Therefore, elevating the level of dyadic coping may contribute to improving QoL for both husbands and wives. Moreover, enhancing the ability to cope with infertility-related stress might be useful for husbands and indirectly contribute to wives' QoL.
This study aimed to explore the relationship between caregiver burden and anticipatory grief among caregivers of elderly cancer patients, and to examine the chain mediation effects of family functioning and resilience. A total of 624 valid questionnaires were collected. The Structural Equation Model was established to test the mediating effects of family functioning and resilience. Results showed that caregiver burden has a direct positive effect on anticipatory grief, both family functioning and resilience have negative effects on caregiver burden and anticipatory grief, and that resilience moderates the mediating effect of family functioning. Our findings suggest that reducing the caregiver burden among caregivers of elderly cancer patients, improving family functioning, and enhancing resilience have important effects in alleviating the anticipatory grief of caregivers. Our findings provide some references for further research. Medical staff should better understand the grief experience of caregivers and implement interventions to enable caregivers to better cope with anticipatory grief and psychological stress, so as to promote the quality of care for elderly cancer patients.
Background:This study aims to examine the relationship between anxiety and depression and dyadic coping in infertile couples, exploring gender differences and dyadic interactions in these associations. Methods:A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 288 couples recruited from the First Affiliated Hospital of Lanzhou University between November 2021 and November 2022. The Dyadic Coping Scale, Anxiety Scale, and Depression Scale were utilized to measure dyadic coping, anxiety, and depression, respectively. The Actor-Partner Interdependence Model was used to analyze the actor effect and partner effect. Results:Wives exhibited significantly higher anxiety and depression scores compared to husbands (p<0.001). No statistically significant difference was found in dyadic coping between wives and husbands. Positive dyadic coping in infertile couples had significant actor effects on anxiety and depression (p<0.05) and partner effects (p<0.05). Positive dyadic coping negatively predicted anxiety and depression of oneself and one's partner. Negative dyadic coping in infertile couples also had significant actor effects on anxiety and depression (p<0.05) and partner effects (p<0.05). Negative dyadic coping positively predicted anxiety and depression of oneself and one's partner. Conclusion:The dyadic coping style of infertile couples has both actor and partner effects on their own and their partner's anxiety and depression. Anxiety and depression in infertile couples are influenced by their own and their partner's dyadic coping style, respectively. Therefore, dyadic coping serves as an important indicator for predicting psychological outcomes in these couples.
Objective To provide reference for promoting the construction of nursing courses through the analysis of research hotspots on ideological and political education in nursing courses in China. Methods The literature related to the ideological and political education of nursing courses in CNKI,Wanfang,VIP and China biomedical database(CBM) were searched, and the keywords, course type, ideological and political elements of the literature were analyzed. Results A total of 336 literatures were included. The research on ideological and political teaching in the course of fundamental nursing held a large percentage. The research focuses included the design of teaching plan, the excavation and integration of ideological and political elements, and the exploration of evaluation methods.Ideological and political elements mainly included professional quality, medical ethics and humanistic care. Conclusion The number of papers on ideological and political teaching research of nursing professional courses has increased year by year, and the teaching reform has achieved initial results. Still, there are problems such as paying more attention to theory than practice courses, uneven geographical distribution of curriculum research, and unified evaluation system. In order to construct a comprehensive, diversified, progressive and mutually supportive curriculum system of ideological and political education for nursing, future studies should strengthen cooperation across provinces and colleges, and create a resource sharing platform.
Background The infertility prevalence of married couples in China is increasing gradually. The dyadic coping level and its influencing factors of infertile women in China are poorly reported. The relationship between dyadic coping and the family cohesion and adaptability in infertile women was investigated. Methods A total of 482 infertile women in the reproductive clinics of three affiliated hospitals of the Lanzhou University were selected by the convenience sampling method. The self-made general information questionnaire, family adaptability and cohesion evaluation scale, and dyadic coping questionnaire were used in this study. Results The average age of infertile women was 31.73 ± 4.57 years, the duration of infertility was 28.66 ± 27.99 months, the total score of dyadic coping was 132.66 ± 25.49, the total score of family cohesion and adaptability was 101.48 ± 20.96. A significant positive correlation between dyadic coping and family cohesion and adaptability was observed (r = 0.74, p < 0.01). The multiple linear regression analysis showed that religious belief, number of miscarriages, relationship between family members, family intimacy, and adaptability were the influencing factors of dyadic coping level in the family of infertile women (R2 = 0.566, p < 0.01). Conclusions The dyadic coping level of infertile women is in the medium level, which is significantly positively correlated with family intimacy and adaptability. In clinical nursing, nurses try to improve the family relationship of patients to increase the level of dyadic coping of infertile women.

Context α2-Macroglobulin (α2-M) is believed to be a potential anti-irradiation agent, but related mechanisms remains unclear. Objective We investigated the irradiation protective effect of α2-M.Materials and methods A total of 10 Gy dose of irradiation was used to damage human skin fibroblasts. The influence of α2-M (100 µg/mL) on the proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis of fibroblasts was observed using Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK8), wound healing, transwell, and flow cytometry. Malondialdehyde, superoxide dismutase and catalase was measured using related ELISA kits. The levels of mitochondrial membrane potential and calcium were detected using flow cytometry. The expression of transient receptor potential melastatin 2 (TRPM2) was investigated through western blotting and immunofluorescence staining. Results High purity of α2-M was isolated from Cohn fraction IV. α2-M significantly increased cell proliferation, migration, invasion, but suppressed cell apoptosis after irradiation. The promotion of cell proliferation, migration and invasion by α2-M exceeded over 50% compared group irradiation. The increased cell ratio in the S phase and decreased cell ratio in the G2 phase induced by irradiation were remarkably reversed by α2-M. α2-M markedly suppressed the increased oxidative stress level caused by irradiation. The mitochondrial damage induced by irradiation was improved by α2-M through inhibiting mitochondrial membrane potential loss, calcium and TRPM2 expression.Discussion and conclusions α2-M significantly promoted the decreased fibroblast viability and improved the mitochondria dysfunction caused by irradiation. α2-M might present anti-radiation effect through alleviating mitochondrial dysfunction caused by irradiation. This study could provide a novel understanding about the improvement of α2-M on irradiation-induced injury.
Abdominal crush injury has been widely reported. However, abdominal crush injury cases involving most of the organ systems have seldom been reported. In the present case report, a 58-year-old man was hit in the abdomen by a 4-ton machine tool. The case described a rare combination of cardiac arrest, intestinal ischemia necrosis, multiple fractures, hemorrhagic shock, renal failure, disseminated intravascular coagulation and thrombosis after severe abdominal crush injury. During the treatment, crush syndrome, anemia, electrolyte disorder, pleural effusion, pulmonary emphysema, compartment syndrome, respiratory failure, pulmonary hemorrhage, injury of the right common peroneal nerve and tibial nerve, septum abscess and malnutrition were also observed. Systemic and symptomatic treatments were performed for >3 months, after which the patient was discharged from hospital without any further risk of fatality. The related treatments were also described in detail in the present case report. This case represented one of the most complicated cases among abdominal crush injuries that have been reported, and the treatment experiences reported here will hopefully provide suitable reference points for similar cases.

BACKGROUND:Stigma, social avoidance and distress may seriously affect the quality of life of infertility patients. Psychological resilience has been proved to effectively combat psychological stress. This study aimed to explore the mediating role of psychological resilience between stigma and social avoidance and distress (SAD) in females with an unfulfilled wish for a child. METHODS:Stigma Scale, Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (SADS), and Psychological Resilience Scale were used to evaluate 266 females with infertility. Structural equation model was used to test the mediating effect of psychological resilience on the relationship between stigma and SAD. RESULTS:The SADS, stigma scores, and psychological resilience scores of 266 females with infertility were 13.36 ± 5.77, 77.84 ± 16.91, and 58.84 ± 12.24 points, respectively. The stigma scores were positively correlated with SADS, and negatively correlated with psychological resilience scores. The psychological resilience scores were negatively correlated with SADS. Psychological resilience played a partially mediating role between the stigma and SAD of infertility patients, and the mediating effect accounted for 25.5% of the total effect. CONCLUSION:Psychological resilience had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between stigma and SAD, and could reduce the negative effect of stigma on the development of SADS. Therefore, positive psychological interventions improving psychological resilience might help to reduce stigma and improve SAD in infertility patients.
Background A key outcome in coronary heart disease (CHD) is Health Related Quality of Life (HRQoL), and family functioning is important in the management of CHD. But few studies have examined both together, and little is known about them among inpatients with CHD in less developed areas of China. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the HRQoL and family functioning status of inpatients with CHD in Lanzhou from Northwest China, and identify the factors that affect their HRQoL. Methods A cross‑sectional study was conducted in 224 CHD inpatients at one major hospital. Sociodemographic data and disease information of CHD inpatients were collected by face-to-face using a structured questionnaire and data were also obtained from patient medical records. HRQoL was measured using the Sickness Impact Profile (SIP). Family functioning was measured using the family APGAR index. Multiple binary logistic regression analysis (MBLRA) was used to explore potential risk factors associated with HRQoL, and Pearson’s correlations were used to assess the relationship between family functioning and HRQoL. Results The overall, physical and psychosocial SIP scores were 25.03 ± 8.52, 18.61 ± 9.90 and 28.08 ± 9.64, respectively. The total family APGAR score was 6.11 ± 2.45. MBLRA found older age, poorer cardiac function and more severe disease were associated with poorer HRQoL, while better family functioning, higher monthly income, and urban living were associated with better HRQoL. Family functioning was weakly to moderately correlated with total and psychosocial HRQoL. Conclusions Older and less affluent inpatients with lower educational level, less family support and more severe CHD have poorest quality of life, and health care providers should consider interventions to support them.
We aim to investigate the status and influence factors of health risk behaviors among middle school students and explore the relationship between social support, family care, and the health risk behaviors. The study was conducted in 3 middle schools in the Fan county located in the Puyang city. Independent measures were applied to assess adolescent health risk behaviors, perceive social support, and family care. Multiple regression analysis was used to analyze the main factors that affect adolescent health risk behaviors. The total scores of health risk behaviors were 53.87 ± 9.97, and all kinds of health risk behaviors were very common. The highest score was health-compromising (2.45 ± 0.43), and the lowest score was unprotected sex behaviors (1.07 ± 0.28). Multiple regression analysis showed that sex (P < .001), grade (P < .001), parent relationships (P < .001), father’s occupation (P = .035), mother’s education level (P = .011), social support (P < .001), affection (P < .001), and growth (P = .003) were the main factors of health risk behaviors, accounting for 25.3%. The health risk behaviors among middle school students in Fan county should attract the attention of education administration, schools, and parent due to the varied influencing factors. Related interventions should be conducted to reduce the severity and frequency of adolescent health risk behaviors and protect the health and growth of adolescents. In order to better analyze the health risk behaviors of middle school students, we will incorporate more influencing factors and carry out further causal analysis in the future.

OBJECTIVES:To examine the relationship between cardiovascular disease risk factors and frailty in a sample of older Chinese adults.METHODS:A total of 458 community-dwelling older adults (≥65 years) in Lanzhou, Gansu Province of China participated in a cross-sectional survey. Their status was evaluated in terms of frailty phenotype (unintentional weight loss, exhaustion, low activity levels, slowness and weakness). Participants were categorized as not frail, prefrail or frail. Cardiovascular disease risk factors that were assessed included: blood pressure, body mass index, waist circumference, blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides, low-density lipoproteins and high-density lipoproteins.RESULTS:Individuals with obesity had an increased risk of prefrailty (OR: 2.26; 95% CI: 1.05, 4.84). Hypertension was inversely associated with frailty among the participants (OR: 0.31; 95% CI: 0.11, 0.87) after adjusting for covariates.CONCLUSIONS:The findings suggest that much more attention should be paid to weight control of the elderly in the community for preventing them from transition to prefrailty or frailty. Active prevention and control of cardiovascular diseases among the community-dwelling elder are still of great importance.
