Objective To examine the result of bilateral malar and mandibular osteotomy on the treatment of square face deformity.Methods Square face deformity resulting of h malar and mandibular angle,treatment by intraoral bilateral malar and mandibular osteotomy under local anesthesia,these operations could be performed simultaneously or at different time.Results From 2003 to 2006,a total of 25 patients with square face deformity accepted bilateral malar and mandibular ostectomy,in which 12 cases were done simultaneously and 13 cases at different time.The following-up period was 6 months to 24 months,all the patients achieved satisfactory results without complications,such as bone facture,nerve injure,infection and massive haemorrhage.Conclusion Intraoral bilateral malar and mandibular osteotomy with local anathei was a very simple and reasonable method with much less complications and more satisfactory results for the treatment of square face deformity with hypertrophic marlar and mandibular angle.
