OBJECTIVE To find out the vitamin A intake in middle-aged and aged females, and to investigate the relationship between retinol intake and bone mineral density (BMD). METHODS Two hundred and fifty women aged 45 to 66 were enrolled and received physical examination and BMD scanning, and their fasting blood samples and dietary records were collected. Serum retinol and beta-carotene were analyzed by HPLC. Assays for bone turnover markers (such as bone specific alkaline phosphatase, osteocalcin and 25-(OH) D3) in serum were performed by using commercially available kits. Subjects were divided into normal BMD group and low BMD group, and the dietary RE intakes and serum retinol were compared. RESULTS The average RE intake was 455.8 microg (n = 169), which reached 65.1% of RNI. Serum retinol and beta-carotene in normal BMD group were a little bit higher than the low BMD group, but there was no statistic difference. Vitamin A intake of normal BMD group was 53.0 microg, which was lower than the low BMD group, and carotene intake of normal BMD group was 107.6 microg, which was higher than the low BMD group. The ratio of plant sourced retinol in normal BMD group was higher than the low BMD group. Bivariate correlation analysis on BMD and dietary RE intake showed no statistic correlation, but with a slight negative trend (P = 0.203, r = -0.140). There was a significantly difference in age, bone mineral contents, BMI and BSAP between low BMD group and normal BMD group (P < 0.001 or P < 0.01), and bivariate correlation analysis showed that the age (P < 0.001, r = -0.380), BMI (P < 0.001, r = 0.394) menopausal age (P < 0.05, r = 0.244) and body weight (P < 0.001, r = 0.434) were significantly correlated with BMD. The result of stepwise linear regression analysis showed that the age, menopausal years and BSAP were entered into the regression equation (R2 = 0.552, F = 24.661, P < 0.001), which indicated a strong connection with BMD. CONCLUSION (a) RE intake did not reach RNI, and the use of supplements was not common (32.5%). (b) The intake of milk and milk products and beans and bean products was low, and the calcium intake did not reach 50% of AI. (c) Higher serum retinol in normal range might maintain BMD. (d) Too much RE intake might associate with decreased BMD, especially the BMD in femoral bone.
Objective:To develop a method of biotin determination in food by bioassay.Methods:The growth of Lactobacillus Plantarum(ATCC 8014) and the biotin content in solution are linear relationship.Biotin content in food can be measured by absorbency of bacterial solution after a certain period of time.Results:The interrelaring coefficient of the standard curve was good in the range of 0 ng~1 ng.RSD were 1.1%,4.1%,2.5%(n=6),and the average recovery rates were 84.2%,92.4%,99.7%.Conclusion:The method can be used for biotin determination in food.
OBJECTIVE:To determine the bioefficacy of pure beta-carotene and beta-carotene from spinach to vitamin A in schoolchildren of different vitamin A status.METHODS:Thirty two schoolchildren aged 7-9 years old were selected and then divided into two groups randomly. Each group included 16 subjects, of which the vitamin A level of 8 subjects was normal, the other 8 subjects suffered from vitamin A deficiency. In the first 7 days, one group was given 5 gram spinach (containing 230 microg 2H10-beta-carotene) before lunch and dinner and the other group was given pure beta-carotene capsule (containing 200 microg beta-carotene). Before breakfast, both groups were given 100 microg 13C10 retinal acetate capsule. Blood was drawn on the 3, 7, 8, 22 and 28 day. HPLC and GC-MS were used to determine the retinol concentration and enrichment of isotope and then calculate the bioefficacy of pure beta-carotene and beta-carotene from spinach to vitamin A.RESULTS:The conversion factors of pure beta-carotene to vitamin A in oil capsule were: 2.9:1 for the children with normal vitamin A status, 3.2:1 for those suffering from marginal vitamin A deficiency. The conversion factors of spinach beta-carotene to vitamin A were 10.1:1 and 10.3:1 for the children with normal and low vitamin A status, respectively.CONCLUSION:The vitamin A conversion bioefficacy of pure beta-carotene from oil capsule is much higher than that of spinach. There is no difference of beta-carotene bioefficacy to vitamin A for children with different vitamin A status.
铁缺乏和缺铁性贫血是全世界范围最常见的营养缺乏病,主要影响较大的婴儿、幼儿和育龄期妇女[1-3].增加膳食铁摄入量和提高铁的生物利用率可预防铁缺乏和缺铁性贫血.
目的评价保健食品辅助改善人记忆作用。方法以50~60岁某工厂的工人为对象进行某保健品人体试食试验,用修改韦氏记忆量表测试其记忆商(MQ)。结果试验组MQ由试验前的79·28±13·85上升至试验后的84·74±12·10,试验组试验后MQ高于试验前(P<0·01),差异有统计学意义,而对照组差异无统计学意义。结论该保健食品对人体具有辅助改善记忆功能。
采用十八烷基硅烷键合硅胶柱,以乙腈-水(1∶9)为流动相,流速为1.0ml·min-1,检测波长为280nm测定保健食品中红景天甙的含量以控制产品质量。结果表明,红景天甙在0.4~4.0μg范围内呈线性关系,平均回收率(n=6)为98.96%(RSD=1.16%)。该方法简便、准确、重现性好,可用于保健食品中红景天甙的质量控制。
【Objective】 In order to observe the effect of micronutrient supplements on cognitive ability of healthy school children. 【Methods】 220 children aged 8~12 years,in a center primary school at a poor county in Zhejiang province,were selected and randomly divided into two groups,which is the placebo and the supplemented groups given with a micronutrient supplements for six months. 【Results】 After the intervention,the supplemented children performed significantly better than the placebo in reading speed,learning capacity,arithmetic examinations and the rank of scores in the class. 【Conclusion】 From the present study,it could conclude that micronutrient supplementation improved the cognitive ability of school children.
Objective:To study the effect of multi-micronutrients supplementation on nutritional status of children. Method:220 students aged 8-12 years were observed for 6 months and 1 year follow-up. A half of them was given the supplements, another half as placebo. Results:In comparison with the placebo, the supplemented children had a higher urine excretion of vitamin B2 and vitamin C after loading; a higher concentration of serum 1.25(OH)2D3, hydroxyproline and hydroxyproline/creatinine ratio in fasting urine, and a higher bone mineral content and bone mass density in mid-ulna. The supplemented children performed significantly better than the placebo in reading speed, learning capacity and arithmetic examinations. After one year there was still significant difference between intervention and control group in hemoglobin content and marginal vitamin A deficiency. Conclusion:The micronutrients supplementation played a notable rule in resulting better nutritional status and learning ability of school children, and intervention would have a long effect on their health and nutritional status.
OBJECTIVE:To study the effect of balanced diet on the nutrition status of primary schoolchildren in the mountain area in November 2004.METHODS:All the subjects aged 7-9 years old were divided into intervention group and control group. The balanced diet was provided for the intervention group and the control group was maintained on their usual diet for 30 days in December. The anthropometric and nutritional status of the subjects were checked before and after the study.RESULTS:The growth and nutritional status of the intervention group improved significantly. However the unbalanced diet in the control group affects the normal growth of the children because the usual diet can not meet the nutrient requirement.CONCLUSION:The nutrition intervention can improve the growth and nutritional status of the primary schoolchildren in the mountain area.

To learn the oral toxicity and mutagenesis of Lindera aggregata (Sims) kosterm.Traditional toxicological experiment was conducted.The acute oral LD50 is more than the weight of 100 g/kg. The micronucleus test showed negative. Sperm malformation test showed negative. Ames test showed negative. In 30-days high-dose feeding test, the size of the rats' liver increased relatively (female P0.05, male P0.01). No significant effect was found on body growth, biochemical blood and pathologic index.[Conclusion] Lindera aggregata (Sims) kosterm is actually nontoxic and has no mutagenesis.
目的从红细胞中提取鞘磷脂.方法采用分离血液、取血球、溶血、脱水等方法提取鞘磷脂,并用高效液相色谱分析其含量.结果可提取到红细胞膜中的鞘磷脂,其含量为5.2%.结论此法工艺可行,为工业化生产提供了依据.
