Objective: To review the mortality rates of prevalent malignancies in Rushan City from 1970 till 1992 and to analyze the changes of these rates during the period between 1970 and 1992,and also to predict the tendencies of changing in incidences of these malignancies in future years in this city for providing information to local government.Methods:Form the total death records registered in the years between 1970 and 1974,1985 and 1989,and between 1990 and 1992,we selected those died of prevalent malignant diseases for our investigation and standardized statistics. Then,we studied the change in the mortality rate of each type of malignant tumor during these periods to predict the tendency of the changing of incidence of each type of malignant disease in future years.Results:During the period of 1970 to 1992,the mortality rate of gastric cancer was still remained at the highest level,and the mortality rates of hepatic carcinoma,lung cancer and leukemia were raised.But the mortality rate of the carcinoma of uterine cervix was declined apparently.Conclusion:To establish the standardized,regular system of malignant tumor registration in every county or city is important for providing this information to the local government to budget correctly the financial expenditure required to satisfy the demand for the diagnostic and therapeutic equipment,etc,for diagnosing and treating those cancer patients in future years in this city.[
Objective To understand the mortalities and prevalence trends of major malignant tumors in rural area of Rushan City,Shandong Province.Methods The data came from the four retrospective death surveys in the past 30 years were analyzed.Results The trends of mortality of malignant tumors increased,of which stomach cancer mortality increased in the end of the 1980s and then decreased to the level in the 1970s level,and liver cancer,lung cancer and colorectal cancer increased in this period.Conclusion The changing trends of malignant mortality are mainly related to the risk factors in environment and the dietary.

Objective:To study the surgical treatment for aged patients with gastric cancer.Methods:From January 1990 to June 1998 336 patients with gastric cancer at the age 60 years old and over were treated by surgery in Shandong Rushan people′s hospital.Results:The types of pathology consisted of mucous adenocarcinoma(90 cases),polypoid adenocarcinoma (76 cases),mucous cell carcinoma (72 cases),tublar adenocarinoma (64 cases),low differentiated adenocarcinoma (26 cases) and nondifferentiated carcinoma(8 cases).There were 298 cases of stage Ⅲ and 38 cases of stage Ⅳ.The resection rate was 897%.Postoperative complication developed in 4 cases (12%) with wound infection.There was no death.Fiveyear survival rate wae 452%(66/146).Conclusions:Intensive perioporative treatment and the right surgical method is the key for the aged gastric cancer patients to prevent postoperative complications.
