The author of this article analyses the results and importance of the 4th All-Russian missionary’s congress, which was in 1908 year in Kyiv, in context of church policy of the Russian government. For the investigating this problem author used scientific literature, archives documents and the matirials of the periodical press. 1905–1906 years, during probability of the reforms was too high, displayed, that independently realize any constructive reform’s program the Russian Orthodox Church does not be able. It had status the state church and had not inside monolithic character. That is why the Council couldn’t be the decision of all problems of state Russian Orthodox Church that historical period. The basic idea of this article is that the IV All-Russia missionary’s congress showed that nothing changed in the church policy of the Russian government even after the revolution events during 1905–1907 years. This missionary’s congress appealed to Orthodox clergy and missionaries to use all means that government to limit the freedom of religion in the country. Those kind decisions led to new aggravation the religion situation in empire. The religion question was one of the causes that led to fall the Russian empire.
The purpose of this article is deep analysis the problem of the participation of the Rome-Catholic clergy on the Right-Bank Ukraine in the liberal and revolutionary-democratic movements in the second half of the 19th — in the beginning of the 20 th ct. For the investigating this problem author used scientific literature and archives documents. At the end of 18th — in the early 19th ct. the top of Roman-Catholic Church, despite the significant differences in the ideology of Catholicism and Freemasonry, went to the rapprochement with Poland Masons of political reasons — the struggle for independence of the Commonwealth. This was due to the inevitability of secularization of land ownership and the establishment of the «Latin» church of the same administrative control by the imperial government, under which long ago was the Russian Orthodox Church. In this historical period, the Polish elite largely relied on Masonic organization guided exclusively patriotic aspirations to revive the Great Poland. For the Polish secret societies support the Roman-Catholic Church was a significant factor on the eve of the uprising against Russia in 1830 –1831, they were preparing hard, since Catholicism had significant ideological influence on a significant part of the Right-Bank Ukraine. This goal subordinated forces formed at the beginning of 19th ct. in Right-Bank Ukraine in the Polish secret societies and Masonic lodges and local Roman-Catholic clergy. As the evidence archival documents, they continued their work in the middle of 19th — in the early 20th ct., especially before and during the uprising against autocracy in 1863–1864 years, achieving the overthrow of the Russian monarchy. However, part of the Roman-Catholic clergy in this process was somewhat more modest than in the beginning 19th ct., which was caused by the tsarist government holding tight against church policy of the Roman-Catholic Church, including the Right-bank Ukraine.
The purpose of this article is deep analysis of the Rome-Catholic Church political position in the Right-Bank Ukraine to Russian autocracy in the 19th— early 20th ct. For the investigating of this problem author used scientific literature, archives documents and the materials of the periodical press. Rome-Catholic Church in the Right-Bank Ukraine on the whole supported the policy of the autocracy, because the most religion ministers of this confession satisfied social security, which gave them Russian government. But existing of social stratificationon also seriously influenced on their official position , because among clergy of this confession were as hierarchs, as a simple clergy. Their political positions often did not coincide. Church’s hierarchs on the whole supported Russian autocracy. Simple clergy often had another, non-official position, display of opposition. Anti-Catholic Church’s policy of government which played vital importance role in forming of Rome-Catholic clergy political position was also very important in this situation.
The purpose of this article is the deep and honesty analysis the problem of political differentiation of Orthodox clergy of the Right-bank Ukraine in the end of the 19 th — early 20 th ct., the participation of clergy in activities of Russianand Ukrainian political parties of this historical period. For the investigating this problem author used scientific literature, archives documents and the materials of the periodical press, including the pre-revolutionary publications. In the wide historical retrospective on the basis of archives and published documents, especially author wants to show the influence «The union of the Russian people» on the activity of the Orthodox clergy of the Right-bank Ukraine in the beginning of the 20th ct., the participation of the Orthodox clergy in the politics, in the Parliamentary elections and in the activity of the first, second, third and fourth Parliament of Russian empery.
This article strives to analyze issues of alienation of Ukrainian peasantry from official Church institutions in Right-bank Ukraine during the first half of 19th cent. Changing the official status and russification of Orthodox Church in Right-bank Ukraine created the blank wall of mistrust and hostility between many lo-cal parishioners and clergy, caused peasant antichurch disturbances, weakened ideological influence of Church on all layers of the society. However, the majority of Ukrainian peasants retained traditional worship practices, original understanding of Christian ideas, Church and clergy as institutions. As a result of this reality of Christian life in Ukraine and particularly Right-bank Ukraine, two types of religious approaches began to coexist: the first one was imposed by the church and other official institutions, and the other one based on folk Christianity, which relied on Christian elements and pagan naturalist worldview. Peasant religiosity in the face of these reforms, as well as after abolition of many rights, went through substantial changes, but nevertheless it remained a spiritual factor which to a large extent determined future of the peasantry.
Basing on the archives documents, scientific literature and materials of the periodic press, the author tries to investigate the role of mason organizations in social-political processes in the Russian empire, including the Right-bank Ukraine, in the early 20th ct.
