To investigate whether tourism can act as a catalyst for regional economic convergence during the period 2000-2023, this study fills a critical gap in previous research by simultaneously examining the impact of tourism on economic disparities from both static stock and dynamic incremental perspectives, while accounting for spatial dependence. This study analyzes the economic convergence effects of tourism at the Chinese provincial and regional levels using sigma convergence and the spatial Durbin model in a conditional beta convergence framework. The results confirm the benefits that tourism brings to economic growth and convergence. Spatially, northeastern China exhibits stronger effects, followed by western and eastern China, in contrast to the relatively weaker impacts in central China. Structurally, its direct effect is more pronounced: the convergence effect is stronger for local areas than for neighboring areas. Temporally, the effect is most pronounced in the early (2000-2012) and late (2020-2023) phases, but becomes statistically insignificant in the intermediate period (2013-2019). By moving beyond the question of whether tourism drives growth to reveal for which regions it is most beneficial, this study offers a refined analytical perspective and actionable insights for achieving balanced regional development in China and other countries and regions at a comparable stage of development. The findings also highlight the potential of cultural heritage as a lever for sustainable and equitable regional growth, channeled through tourism.
This study proposes a multiscale evaluation framework for recreation services (RS) based on the Environment–Opportunity–Potential (EOP) model, aiming to better understand the dynamics and drivers of RS across spatial scales. Using the Yangtze River Delta (YRD) region of China as a case study, this research assesses the RS levels from 2010 to 2020 based on the Environment Opportunity and Potential (EOP) framework. We investigated the trade-offs and synergies among multiple dimensions of RS and analyze their driving mechanisms at varying spatial scales. Key findings include: (1) The YRD exhibits a distinct spatial pattern characterized by higher values in the southeastern areas and lower values in the northwest, and the average level decreased by 5.85
Exploring the characteristics of changes in cropland function trade-off and the influencing factors in highly urbanized areas can promote the synergistic development of urbanization and fine cropland management. Taking the Yangtze River Delta region as the study area, this paper developed a cropland function evaluation system from the production–ecology–living perspective, identified the spatial and temporal changes in cropland function trade-offs through Wavelet analysis and Root mean square error, and explored the driving factors of the trade-offs by using GeoDetector. The results indicated the following: (1) The cropland function in the Yangtze River Delta region has undergone a transition from a single production function to a composite function integrating ecology and life in conjunction with urbanization. The trade-offs between cropland functions are weakened, and the rate of decline from 2010 to 2023 is significantly higher than that from 2000 to 2010, and the characterization of cropland in different types of cities is revealed. (2) The turning points of cropland function trade-off changes in cities of different scales diverge, with the inflection points of small and medium-sized cities and large cities shrinking toward the center (decreasing from 42–48 km to 30–36 km), and metropolises showing an obvious trend of outward expansion (expanding from 42 km to 60 km). (3) The influence of natural and socioeconomic factors on cropland function trade-off intensity generally increases over time, with socioeconomic factors increasingly becoming significant drivers of the trade-off intensities. It is recommended that the study area focus on developing cropland characterization in different types of cities in the future, and continue to improve the degree of sharing the integration of profits from cropland functions, so as to promote optimal development.
Maintaining ecosystem health on islands is essential for constructing an ecologically balanced civilization and supporting sustainable development of island tourism. This study provided a quantitative analysis of the ecosystem's evolution on Hainan Island from 2000 to 2020, meticulously investigating the interplay between biodiversity, tourism, and local economic activities on ecosystem health. Additionally, it simulated ecosystem health in 2030 across four distinct scenarios: ecological conservation, eco-friendly tourism, natural development, and economic growth. Finally, practical management suggestions were proposed for achieving multifaceted sustainable ecosystem development. The findings indicated: (1) Ecosystem health on Hainan Island exhibited an overall declining trend from 2000 to 2020, with a noticeable decrease moving from the central mountainous to the plains area. (2) Variations in ecosystem health were primarily shaped by natural geographic factors such as altitude and slope, though socio-economic factors and tourism development increasingly influenced these trends. In addition, natural environmental factors and tourism factors contributed positively to ecosystem health, while socio-economic factors had a negative effect. (3) Simulation predictions demonstrated that prioritizing ecological protection alongside promoting tourism can positively impact ecosystem health on Hainan Island, whereas exclusive emphasis on economic growth may jeopardize long-term sustainability. This study offers invaluable perspectives for conserving biodiversity, fostering socio-economic progress, and aligning ecological conservation with tourism development towards a harmonious multi-objective strategy.
Food vlogs are an important way to promote food tourism, but the effect of food vlogs on potential tourists' travel intentions is effectively discussed. This study discusses a new interactive method, namely, bullet comments, which is an important means of communication between audiences and vlog content with high real-time interaction. We analyzed the effect of food vlogs on audiences' travel intention expression. The main results were as follows. Firstly, we identified 126 highly engaging sessions. A typology analysis of highlight moments was carried out, mainly including food experience, fun, place, interaction, and production techniques. Secondly, by constructing five kinds of bullet comment themes, the flow relationship between vlog content and bullet comment content was established. Finally, we proposed three approach hypotheses to explain the process mechanism of travel intention expression. In the para-social interaction, the interactive participation of bullet comments effectively improves the audience's active perception of food and destination.
The ecological environment of tourism-oriented towns is attracting increasing attention. Taking the cities of Haikou and Sanya as examples, we examined changes in six ecosystem services (ES), including water conservation (WC), crop production (CP), soil retention (SR), carbon storage (CS), habitat quality (HQ), and tourism recreation (TR) from 2005 to 2020. From the three perspectives of geographical environment, socioeconomic development, and tourism development force, 14 indicators were chosen to examine the impact on ES. Except for Haikou's TR, the other ES of Haikou and Sanya showed a decreasing trend from 2005 to 2020. The values of six ES were lower in coastal zones than in noncoastal zones, which were more obvious in Sanya. Specifically, the areas of low value in Sanya were concentrated in the coastal region, and the areas with low value in Haikou were primarily distributed in blocks along the coast and in bands or points in the central and southern areas. From the perspective of influencing factors, the natural environmental factors dominate in Haikou, followed by the socio-economic factors and finally the tourism development factors, while the natural environmental factors also dominate in Sanya, followed by the tourism development factors and finally the socio-economic factors. We provided recommendations for sustainable tourism development in Haikou and Sanya. This study has significant implications for both integrated management and scientific decision-making to enhance the ES of tourism destinations.
乡村文化是乡村旅游地的精神内核,探究乡村旅游地文化胁迫现象并据此提出文化资源开发模式,是有效推动乡村传统文化创造性转化和创新性发展的基础工作.选择典型乡村旅游地江苏省东山镇进行田野调查、深度访谈和问卷调研,结合多种空间计量和数理统计方法揭示其文化胁迫演化特征及动力机制,进而提出乡村文化资源的创新开发模式.结果表明:乡村旅游地自然景观、聚落景观、生产生活、人际交往和精神仪式文化胁迫演化特征存在明显差异,整体表现出路径依赖和空间锁定效应,且当前随着旅游开发程度的提升这一特征趋于明显;当地居民个体层面的差异及乡村整体层面的旅游产业弊端、社区发展和人口变化均对乡村文化产生影响,两个层面的胁迫因素通过阻滞力和调整力,持续驱动乡村文化系统发生嬗变并实现阶段式发展;提出修复与保育、活化与参与、公平与导引、自主与创新、身体与仪式五大乡村旅游地文化资源开发模式.研究可为乡村文化资源的科学保护与合理利用提供实践参考,为实现乡村旅游的高质量发展以助推乡村全面振兴提供理论依据.
Ecological resilience (ER) is considered a key factor in resolving complex human and natural systems conflicts and managing risk during the period of rapid development. However, the importance of landscape patterns for ER is not given enough attention in previous studies. Therefore, we selected the Yangtze River Delta region as the study area, incorporated landscape patterns into the assessment of ER and proposed the way for identifying ecological sources based on the combination of ecosystem services and landscape patterns. Combining the multidimensional ecological resilience assessment indicators system, we calculated the ER for the Yangtze River Delta region and explored the importance and nonlinear effects of landscape patterns on the ER using a random forest regression model. The results showed that the comparative analysis of ecosystem services and landscape patterns enhanced the scientificity of ecological source identification. We identified 94 ecological sources mainly in the southern of the Yangtze River Delta region, including important mountain ranges and water bodies. In addition, the ER was significantly strengthened by considering the landscape patterns. The random forest regression results indicated the nonlinear relationship between the landscape patterns and the other elements in terms of ER. This study can contribute to a comprehensive and integrated approach to the identification of ecological sources and the evaluation of ER, which can promote the conservation of regional ecological functions.
Food vlogs are a new trend in destination marketing, but there is limited cognition of food tourism motivates potential consumers to travel. We used content analysis and natural language processing for the effect of food vlogs on awakening travel intentions. The results showed that life-oriented and mundane food vlogs could significantly awaken travel intentions. Meanwhile, unique food community prompted the transformation of viewers into potential foodies, triggering their travel intentions. Furthermore, food vlogs revealed that viewers expressed their opinions around six dimensions, with a sense of place and empathy at the core. Finally, the paper verified that food vlogs created a unique community circle and promoted positive destination image perceptions among viewers to awakening travel intentions.
针对旅游地图方面的系统回顾,借助CiteSpace5.7.R2软件对564篇国内外旅游地图文献,进行关键词共词网络分析、研究热点聚类、研究特征分析以及研究阶段划分.通过梳理、分析,发现国内外旅游地图的研究内容、关注重点、方法创新、发展趋势等方面存在差异性,借鉴国外研究经验,提出未来国内旅游地图研究需要不断扩展智能、便携、文化、艺术美观等实用功能.结合旅游地图发展趋势,建议从旅游地图的信息搜集、筛选效率提升着手,确保旅游地图数据类型的精准化、个性化,重点加强其文化功能和商品价值以及与地理信息系统多种方法的集成与融合.
探究旅游开发对乡村文化的胁迫问题是进行乡村旅游实践反思以实现高质量发展进而推进乡村全面振兴的基础工作.以不同发展阶段的乡村旅游地(杨湾、翁巷和陆巷)为例,综合运用定性与定量研究方法,进行旅游开发对乡村文化的胁迫维度分异、胁迫阶段判定及内部差异研究,结果表明:1)乡村旅游文化胁迫包含自然景观、聚落景观、生产生活、人际交往和精神仪式5个维度,总体上乡村文化胁迫处于预警阶段,居民对聚落景观文化胁迫的认可度最高;2)不同发展阶段的乡村旅游地各类文化胁迫水平及所处胁迫阶段存在差异,其中自然景观、生产生活和人际交往的文化胁迫水平随乡村旅游发展阶段的提升呈上升趋势;3)居民对5个乡村文化胁迫维度的感知情况在陆巷、翁巷和杨湾存在较大差异,基于这些差异可将案例地居民划分为"聚落景观守护者""旅游开发反对者""旅游开发支持者""人际交往乐观者".该研究是乡村旅游文化影响研究的继续与深化,对更有针对性地发现乡村旅游带来的文化胁迫问题以及乡村文化的保护传承和可持续利用具有参考价值.
Since the Anthropocene, drastic changes in the relationship between humans and the earth have prompted human beings to pay more attention to the living environment. As a metaphor to reveal the state of humanity and nature, ecosystem health has gradually become an important issue closely related to global sustainable development ever since it was widely discussed in the 1990s. This study reviewed 4354 publications about ecosystem health from the Web of Science Core Collection by using CiteSpace software. In addition, 135 empirical papers were selected to further analyze the evaluation methods and characteristics of ecosystem health. This study was able to answer four questions: (1) What are the definitions, research content, and characteristics of ecosystem health? (2) Are there any features during the different periods of the development of the ecosystem health? Are there geographical differences in the research? (3) What are the methods and cases selected for studying ecosystem health, and under what kind of conditions do they apply? Are there any patterns or characteristics in the use of these methods? (4) What are the gaps and deficiencies in ecosystem health research, and where should we set our focus on in the future? In general, this study combined bibliometric analysis with a systematic review method, aiming to summarize the current status of ecosystem health research, make up for the deficiencies in the current review, and put forward new insights regarding the concept cognition, evaluation, and future outlook of ecosystem health research.
Tourism is an important economic and social activity with distinct characteristics of human-land interaction, which creates increasingly pronounced ecological and environmental challenges. The changes in four ecosystem services, including water yield (WY), carbon storage (CS), soil retention (SR) and habitat quality (HQ) in the coastal and noncoastal zones of Sanya were analysed, and the influencing factors were discussed. We found that from 2000 to 2018, the built-up land area of the coastal zone of Sanya quadrupled; CS, SR and HQ of the coastal zone were lower than those of the non-coastal zone with a clear downwards trend; and WY was higher than that of the noncoastal zone, indicating that the development of coastal tourism in Sanya damaged the surrounding ecological environment. The decline in ecosystem services in Sanya from 2010 to 2018 was smaller than that from 2000 to 2010, indicating that Sanya's ecological and environmental protection measures have been effective in recent years. The ecosystem services of Sanya were mainly affected by the natural environment, such as precipitation(P), and fractional vegetation coverage (FVC), but the impact of tourism factors, such as total tourism attraction (TA) and accommodation capacity (AC) also gradually became significant. Based on these findings, we propose to adhere to the sustainable development of coastal ecotourism, implement dynamic planning and dynamic monitoring, and strengthen the protection of coastal and its buffer zone. This study is of great significance to the scientific decision-making and comprehensive regulation of tourism-oriented cities and towns to improve ecosystem services.
传统村落作为历史文化、民俗风情、建筑艺术的重要载体,是中国优秀传统文化的重要组成部分.以我国西南地区1912个传统村落为案例,运用计量地理法与GIS空间分析探索传统村落空间分布特征及其影响机理.结果 表明:①西南地区传统村落空间分布不均衡,区域差异明显,且逐渐形成滇西北、黔东南—黔东北、黔南和云南红河州四大高密度区.②地理探测器因子探测结果显示:自然环境的影响因子最强,地域文化次之,经济发展水平等人文社会因子影响力较弱;各影响因子间交互作用增强,且海拔高程、坡向和河流间两两交互的增强作用最为明显.③从影响机理来看,西南地区传统村落的形成演化是自然环境、社会经济和政策导向交互耦合作用的结果.自然环境因素是决定西南地区传统村落的空间结构和发展方向的"基石",起着主导作用;人文社会因素是传统村落发展演化的内在驱动因素;政策导向是形成现有空间格局的外在动因.
集成生态系统服务量化、生态安全格局构建与生态安全评估等多种方法,构建并评估了苏州市区的生态安全格局.结果显示:①2017年苏州市区食物供给、淡水供给、空气净化、涵养水源、碳汇服务、旅游休闲、土壤保持和生境质量等服务分别为32795.94元/hm2、686.6 mm、283.68元/hm2、28.62mm、86.99t/hm2、3736.75元/hm2、174.8t/hm2和0.47.②识别出太湖、东山、西山、穹窿山、大阳山-天池山、旺山-上方山、阳澄湖、长漾湖和太浦河等9个重要生态源地.③提取出生态廊道36条,生态节点32个,建议100~200 m和60~100 m分别为苏州市区重要生态廊道和一般生态廊道的宽度.④苏州市区整体生态网络闭合度较低,生态网络连接水平较复杂,生态节点连接性较低,生态网络成本较高,应优先建设重要性高的生态廊道,加强大面积水域、湿地之间的生态廊道建设,提升水域与周边山地丘陵的连通性.通过此研究以期为探索生态系统服务应用价值、落实长三角一体化发展战略、助力生态文明建设等提供有益借鉴.
