Результаты экспериментов, проведенных в Большой аэрозольной камере НПО «Тайфун», показали, что в темноте в очищенном от аэрозолей изолированном от внешней среды объеме атмосферного воздуха спустя 20 мин после его очистки регистрируются новые аэрозольные частицы размером более 15 нм. Образование новых частиц связывается с возможным наличием в атмосферном воздухе газов - предшественников аэрозолей, которые под действием проникающих внутрь камеры космических лучей превращаются в аэрозоли. Наблюдаемая в экспериментах эволюция (в течение нескольких суток) спектра размеров образующихся частиц показывает, что образование новых аэрозольных частиц продолжается не более 20 ч; частицы укрупняются до размеров более 100 нм. После повторной очистки воздуха внутри камеры с удалением вновь образованных аэрозолей новых частиц больше не наблюдалось в течение 10 сут. The results of experiments in the Large Aerosol Chamber of RPA Typhoon revealed the appearance of new aerosol particles larger than 15 nm in an aerosol-free volume of atmospheric air isolated from the external environment in darkness 20 min after the air purification. The generation of new particles is associated with the possible presence of gases - precursors in the atmospheric air. The gases-precursors turn into aerosols under the action of cosmic rays penetrating into the chamber. The experimentally derived particle size spectrum evolution (over several days) shows that the generation of new aerosol particles lasts no more than 20 hours. During the evolution, the particles become larger and reach more than 100 nm size. After repeated purification of the air inside the chamber with the removal of newly generated aerosols, no new particles were detected for 10 days.
The ion wind ability to initiate motions in the originally motionless warm fog inside an enclosed volume is studied. The objective of the study is the experimental check of the possibility to exploit corona discharges for the warm fog modification. The experiment was carried out in a specialized laboratory unit in the Fedorov Institute of Applied Geophysics. The possibility of using the unit to explore the effect of corona discharges on warm fogs is clearly demonstrated.
The results of studies evaluating the efficiency of fog dispersion by collecting water droplets contained in the fog using the grid electrostatic precipitator are considered. The precipitator includes a corona discharge generation system that provides electric charging of fog droplets and a grounded gauze structure free for airflow. When air flows through the cells of the grounded conductive gauze, electrically charged drops are deposited on its surfaces and are separated from the wind stream. The airflow purified from drops is directed to the protected area and forces fog out of it. Data of the presented studies are based on the experiments conducted in the large aerosol chamber of the Institute of Experimental Meteorology (Taifun Research and Production Association). High efficiency of the investigated method is shown, it may be recommended for practical work to improve visibility in fog in a controlled area.
Experimental studies estimating the effect of ions produced by corona discharge on the formation of new aerosol particles are analyzed. It is noted that, not only in a controlled space (aerosol chambers), independent of its volume, but also under conditions of the natural atmosphere, the generation of a corona discharge is accompanied by the formation of new nanometer-sized aerosol particles, the concentration of which exceeds the background concentration by more than an order of magnitude. The results obtained are interpreted on the basis of theoretical views about the effect the electric charge of ions has on the condensation of different admixtures. The coagulation theory and the model of a continuous growth were used to calculate the increase in the radius of aerosol particles as a function of time.
There were presented findings of research of new electric method of gas purification from aerosol particles. The method is based on use of energy of irregular electric field, which formed in purified gas with the aid of electric charge, localized on surface of tubular capacitor. There was described experimental set up and results of measurements of aerosol parameters after action on it electric field. There were described advantages of offered method in comparison with “electrostatic precipitator”. There was established that in formed irregular electric field are separated aerosol particles of whole pattern sizes, including nano sized range. There was made conclusion about possibility of practical implementation of method, taking into account preliminary assessments of energy costs. There were considered potential possibilities of efficiency increase method.
Описаны и апробированы методы измерений параметров аэрозолей с использованием анализатора на основе дифференциальной подвижности наночастиц и диффузионного аэрозольного спектрометра. Проведено сравнение результатов измерения диаметров наночастиц обоими методами. Представлены результаты межлабораторных сличений анализаторов на основе дифференциальной подвижности наночастиц и исследований электродвигателей бытовых приборов, которые являются генераторами аэрозоля наночастиц размером 6 - 50 нм.The methods of aerosols parameters measurement are described and tested with use of differential mobility analyzer and diffusion aerosol spectrometer. Comparison of the results of nanoparticles diameters measurement by these two methods is presented. The results of interlaboratory comparisons of analyzers based on differential mobility of nanoparticles are presented. The results of household appliances electric motors study are presented. It is shown that these electric motors are the generators of aerosol with the size of nanoparticles in range from 6 to 50 nm.
A model of condensation of polar molecules on ions was proposed. The model predicts that, under conditions of significant ionization, a gas consisting of polar molecules condenses into nanoparticles more rapidly than a nonpolar gas. The equilibrium diameter of particles formed via the charge-dipole mechanism is substantially higher than the equilibrium diameter calculated by the Kelvin equation from the vapor pressure over the charged particle under the same conditions.
