The modern point of view about antimicrobial spectrum, mechanism of action and practical application of nitrofurans in the treatment of urinary tract infections are described in this review. It is noticed, that furamag is drug of choice for the treatment of urinary tract infections.

A survey is presented of the angiotensin II receptor antagonists (AT 1 blockers, sartans) and their general properties and similarities. Accordingly, their receptor profile, pharmacokinetic and therapeutic applications are discussed. In addition, attention is paid to the individual characteristics of the AT 1 blockers now available.

A survey is presented the thiazide diuretics and their current place in the treatment of arterial hypertension. Mechanism of action, pharmacokinetics, side effect are reviewed. Optimal dosage, proper use in hypertension is described.
Obtaining of some pharmacoepidemiological data, including the list and the rate of out–patient use of diuretics and some other (including «traditional») hypotensive drugs employed in treatment of arterial hypertension (AH) was the goal of the present work in the first stage. For this purpose the retrospective analysis of 664 out–patient case histories (Grodno, Kobrin, Shchuchin) and the results of the questioning of 118 doctors of polyclinics (Grodno, Gomel, Zhlobin) has been carried out. It has been revealed, that only four drugs from the group of diuretics were used: furosemide, hydrochlorothiazide, spironolactone and indapamide. The tendency of increase in quantity of the patients receiving diuretics in AH has been revealed. The essential drawbacks of pharmacotherapy however remain: 1) preference of furosemide by some doctors (probably because of its cheapness); 2) use of spironolactone for monotherapy; 3) insufficient use of modern drugs (indapamide); 4) administration of low doses of diuretics. The use of so–called «traditional» antihypertensive drugs remains rather high. In the second stage of the investigation the received list of preparations has been estimated by means of the standard pharmacoeconomic technique of «cost–minimization analysis». It has been revealed, that the most economically grounded treatment is treatment of AH with hydrochlorothiazide diuretics and with Adelphane — Esidrex as a «traditional» antihypertensive drug and treatment of hypertensive crises with clonidine.
Arterial hypertension is the most common cardiovascular pathology in the world which requires long-term treatment and in many cases lifetime treatment. For that reason, there has always been a great interest in the rational treatment of hypertension. That is why, it seems to be usefulfor the practical medicine to estimate the current practice ofantihypertensive treatment over the last several years. Retrospective analysis of 160 case histories of the out-patients receiving antihypertensive treatment in the Brest regional hospital has been made. The goal of this work was to study the spread of antihypertensive drugs of different classes in the treatment of out-patients in comparison with the data obtained from the in-patients' treatment.
Arterial hypertension (АH) is a cardiovascular pathology most widespread in the world which needs long time treatment, and in some cases such treatment is conducted during all life of the patient. Hypertensive crises (HC) make worse current AH and are the proof of either insufficient efficacy of antihypertensive treatments or of complete absence of such who were treatment. Retrospective analysis of 182 case histories of hypertensive patients having in the anamnesis one and more HC treated in outpatient hospital was done. The goal of the present study was the investigation of the antihypertensive drugs used in outpatient treatment. The aim of the present research was to find probable relationship between the clinical diagnosis and drug therapy, on the one hand and the occurrence of HC, on the other hand. It has been revealed, that diagnosis NCD, in general, interfered with the duly administration of antihypertensive treatment and with the occurrence of hypertensive crises. The list of the drugs used for hypertension treatment is rather scarce. The tendency to minimize dosages of the drugs has been revealed. Retrospective analysis of 182 case histories of hypertensive patients having in the anamnesis one and more hypertensive crises treated in outpatient hospital was done. The goal of the research was studying correlation between the clinical form of hypertensive disturbances diagnosed by the doctor with the subsequent adequate medication and the occurrence of hypertensive crises. It has been revealed, that diagnosis NCD, in general, interfered with duly administration of antihypertensive treatment and with the occurrence of hypertensive crises. The list of the drugs used for hypertension treatment, is rather scarce. The tendency to minimize dosages of the drugs has been revealed.
