The large space observatory Spektr-UF, being created in Russia, is designed to obtain images and spectra of space objects in an ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum (115–310 nm) that is inaccessible to observations by ground-based instruments. The observatory is planned to be launched in the late 20s and the training of potential users for effective work with it has already begun. A necessary component of the observatory for planning and implementing a scientific program (preparation of applications and preparation of an observation program) is special software that allows one to evaluate the possibility of registering a signal from an astronomical object of interest. Historically, such software is called an exposure calculator. In preparation for the launch of the Spektr-UF observatory, the first version of the exposure calculator has been created with the option to work via a web interface. The experience of other missions (primarily the Hubble Space Telescope, HST) was used to develop of this software. The paper presents the main features of the Spektr-UF exposure calculator. Since this is the first publication about the calculator, it provides a brief reference to the scientific instruments of the observatory and the mathematical expressions underlying the calculator programs that characterize the signal registration process. Based on real examples, the possibility of implementing photometry and spectroscopy modes of point and extended astronomical sources using various scientific instruments of the observatory is discussed. Plans for the improvement of this calculator are discussed too.

We report the parameters of the advanced NEVA9090 wide-field detector based on this CMOS and manufactured by NPK Fotonika. The camera can be used as a detector for modern high-performance wide-field telescopes. We present the parameters of a telescope with an aperture of 1 m and a focal ratio of $$F:1.3$$ when operated with the new NEVA9090 camera.
Abstract—The basic principles of the development of an astroclimatic facility using commercially available standard technical solutions to allow rapid production and unlimited replication are outlined. The facility includes an equatorially-mounted $$305$$ mm, $${F \mathord{\left/ {\vphantom {F 8}} \right. \kern-0em} 8}$$ Ritchey–Chretien telescope with a dome, cloud sensor, and an automatic weather station. The proposed device for studying the parameters of atmospheric turbulence including the altitude profile consists only of a Shack–Hartmann sensor with a $$3 \times 3$$ cm subaperture. The feasibility of such an approach has been confirmed by recent studies and our numerical simulations.
Actual problems in submillimeter astronomy require the creation of instruments, which combine high sensitivity, angular resolution, wide field of view, and multi-wavelength (multicolor) spectral range. Currently, new single mm/submm telescopes are in great demand in Eurasia, as well as their inclusion in the Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) VLBI network. The concept of the Eurasian Submillimeter Teselscopes (ESMT) project involves the construction of three structurally identical mm/submm radio telescopes of the 15-21 m class on the Suffa Plateau, Uzbekistan (2400 m or higher), in the Russian Federation (3000 m or higher) and in Tibet, China (higher than 5000 m). The ESMT concept is considered, where the design of the European ALMA antennas is taken as a starting point. The antenna diameter should be increased from 12 m to 21 m, the optical layout and the structure of the truss frame will be changed accordingly, tertiary optics and an “active surface” have been added, and tools for its operational diagnostics have been proposed. The article presents variants of the ESMT optical scheme and tertiary optics, which make it possible to hold a compact cryostat with a KID-matrix in a vertical position to ensure its operability when the telescope is tilted. Comparison of ESMT capabilities with other mm/submm tools and projects is provided. The necessary astroclimatic conditions and characteristics of ESMT sites are considered, estimates of the precipitated water PWV, dPWV and the share of total cloudiness TCC for a number of practically interesting sites obtained using the ERA-Interim and ERA-5 reanalysis databases are presented. The influence of atmospheric turbulence on a radio telescope, radio astronomy methods for suppressing atmospheric fluctuations and possibilities of using adaptive optics, in particular, tip-tilt correction for improving the quality of submm images, are considered.
Abstract—The ultraviolet wavelength range (90–300 nm) is one of the most important parts of the electromagnetic spectrum for astrophysicists. The success of the GALEX and ASTROSAT/UVIT missions has given a new view on the ultraviolet sky with unprecedented detail of extended objects, such as planetary nebulae or supernova remnants. Direct images of the sky allow us to track the morphology of such objects, but provide very limited information about their physical conditions: temperature, density, and radiation fields. Spectroscopic observations make it possible to study local physical conditions, but usually only at one point in an extended nebula. Our proposed long-slit spectrograph (SING, Spectroscopic Investigation of Nebular Gas) will allow tracking emission lines across the entire spatially extended nebulae in the wavelength range of 140–270 nm, which is the key to understanding their dynamics and evolution. The spectrograph will operate onboard the Chinese space station. The article describes the scientific tasks for which this unique device is created, its main characteristics and preliminary design.

We propose a conceptual design of a controlled pre-aperture mirror for the fast repositioning of a wide field telescope with a field of view of 3.75 ◦ and an aperture of 30 cm for a space system to detect decameter sized asteroids (the SODA project). The pointing area is 50 ◦ × 120 ◦ and the repointing time between the adjacent fields is less than 3 seconds. Similar systems, equipped with a pre-aperture mirror, from different Russian and foreign projects have been considered, as well as recommendations on the use of a controlled mirror in the SODA project.

We propose an optical scheme of a telescope with a field of view of 3.75 ◦ and 30 cm aperture for the space system for observation of decameter size asteroids (the SODA project). The main distinctive feature of this telescope is a pre-aperture flat mirror that provides an observation area of 50 ◦ ×120 ◦ and a repointing time between the adjacent fields of less than 3 s. A modern CMOS detector with a small pixel is proposed. Observable sky area when using 2, 3 and 4 telescopes are described. The advantages and disadvantages of each option are briefly discussed.
Abstract—A general description is given of the international (with Russia as the key contributor) project World Space Observatory–Ultraviolet (WSO–UV; in Russian named SPEKTR–UF). The project is aimed at creating a large space observatory for observation in the UV part of the spectrum (110–310 nm). The project has been underway for quite a long time. There are no outstanding engineering issues. Because of several factors not related to technology, the launch of the observatory has been postponed to 2025. The cushion of time allows for a possibility of improvements in the project scheme. The scientific program has been refined; a new design of the field camera has been prepared; a new spectrograph will be installed according to the cooperation agreement between Roscosmos and JAXA (Japan); a new, more optimal orbit has been selected; a system for collecting proposals has been developed and an experimental call for proposals has been launched, etc. Thus, the overall picture of the project has acquired new touches. This paper briefly describes the current status of the project, focusing on these new touches.
SING. The ultraviolet spectral subdiapasons, both near UV (180-300 nm) and far UV (115-180 nm), are highly requested by astrophysicists. The successful space missions like IUE, HST, GALEX and others provided scientists with absolutely new data for astrophysical studies. Direct UV images of the sky allow tracking the morphology of extended objects (planetary nebulae, supernova remnants etc), but these data provide very limited information about understanding the physical conditions (temperature, density, radiation field). Spectroscopic observations make it possible to study local physical conditions, but usually only at one point in an extended nebula. Spectroscopy that is based on long-slit spectrograph observations allow to combine these both. To study dynamics and evolution of extended objects we propose such an instrument SING (Spectroscopic Investigation of Nebular Gas). We plan to install it onboard the upcoming Chinese Modular Space Station (CSS). Here we describe general objectives and preliminary optical layout of the SING.
The project is already developing for quite a long time. There are no outstanding technical issues. Due to a number of circumstances of the non-technical plan, the launch of the project was assigned to 2025. A certain amount of time allowed us to consider the possibility of some improvements in the structure of the project. The scientific program of the project has been clarified, a new project of the field camera has been prepared; within the framework of cooperation the possibility of installing a new device – a spectrograph (Japan) is being considered another more optimal orbit has been selected; a system for collecting applications has been developed and experimental collection of applications has begun etc., so that the overall picture of the project has acquired new touches. This paper briefly describes the current status of the project and focuses on these new touches.
